Remember how R* said something like GTA Online is a different game then GTA V?

Yet on the PS3/360 version it was basically just the online portion of the game, and had to be launched from the disc.

Do you think that since they are starting fresh on a new console that they will make it so GTA Online is a standalone game that can be bought on it's own and updated on it's own and will continue until the end of the console's life cycle and when say GTA VI comes out will get updated with the new cities and new stuff and your characters will carry over?

Why not? Obviously on the past gen they weren't going to make any new GTA games so it wouldn't have made sense to make GTA Online a standalone title when they could stand to make more money by making it so you have to buy GTA V to play it.

 

But what if on the next generation R* releases GTA V and GTA Online together, and eventually within a year releases GTA Online on it's own as a standalone title, and provides new updates and DLC and patches for it, and then the next GTA comes out and GTA Online again gets a new update to get the map, and new content and game play features that GTA game had, and people keep their characters and money throughout the consoles life cycle.

No. I think you read too much into the hype R* wanted to create for GTA Online. They also said GTA Online would have a continually expanding world. It's just cheesy (and misleading) PR speak. GTA Online was never a different game, it was simply a mode they were able to advertise separately from the single player experience. One that, I must add, still doesn't have the stuff they promised it would have at launch.
