Another reason I love this game and the series is that I get to play the anti-hero. There is nothing more boring and cliché than playing "the good guy".

I'm a bit lost on this one. Whenever was GTA about playing the good guy ? I've never played the good guy in any GTA game.

Are you sure you were playing GTA bro ?

let me be more clear most games deal with a protagonist who is trying to save the world from zombies, aliens, terrorists or other outside force that is usually malicious in nature. In the gta series the player plays a character whi is in general a low life or questionable in nature, he might not be completely nasty but he doesn't exactly have the best intention for others, he's just trying to get to the top or be rich or wants revenge.

Oh my bad I only just read your original post properly - it makes sense now. Sorry for my misreading of it.

1:It got some of the best cars in GTA Series

2:Michael is my favorite of all.

3:The Story until Mr.Phillips was awesome, then it was cool and in the docks mission was OK and then well...but i got to admit i liked Bury the Hatchet and The Wrap Up(Best Mission)

4:I liked how you can use the phone in the game like in now days, but you can be in the middle of the ocean, take the phone and still open the internet in 1 sec

5:Great Map

Mainly because of the awesome atmosphere it has to offer. There's isn't a single open-world game out there that comes even close to GTAV's world design and atmosphere. it also has a lot of content, even if some has been cut out. Not to mention the awesome lighting system.

I don't care what anyone says, the original musical score blows the liscensed crap from the previous games out of the water. The one that really stands out is "We Were Set Up" which plays during the long stretch and during online survival modes. There is also the quiet derivative of that song that plays when flying aircraft, it's f*cking beautiful. The score during the missions really adds life to the overall story, as opposed to the previous games, where shootouts in particular felt dull, dry, and bland due to lack of score.

I personally could not stand V's score. It sounded corny and cliche as hell. I hated it.

I like the background music that plays during parachuting. Gives me a Vice City vibe IMO.

^probably the original score piece by Tangerine Dream

you know, no one ever talks about the original score or atmospheric music here on GTAF :p on other forums like NeoGAF, it's probably one of the top 2 or 3 most talked about praise about the game... how incredible the original score (a first for the GTA series) is by Tangerine Dream

and yeah it does sound a bit like Vice City...

it's very 80s synth, jazzy, a little cyberpunk... very very Drive-esque or Michael Mann's Miami Vice

tangerine dreams "no happy ending" is one of my favorite songs in the game. It sets up "burying the hatchet" nicely.

Well I pretty much like this version of it, whenever I have a wanted level while screwing around I always try to get this one.

1. This game has a sweet soundtrack, both in terms of licensed music (I've bought and downloaded a lot of Los Santos Rock Radio) and in terms of original score. The BGM for missions like "The Long Stretch", "Trevor Philips Industries" and "Friends Reunited" is fantastic, the radio is scripted to play certain songs to set the mood, and there's even tracks for certain sandbox events like taking someone to the Altruist cult. As has been pointed out, it does have a very 80s feel, perfect for Michael.

2. The voice acting is really good, not just for specific characters, but in general. Ned Luke gives a great performance as Michael, and Steven Ogg is top-notch even if I'm not much of a Trevor fan.

3. I know this isn't the most popular opinion, but the "government intrigue" missions were my most favorite. I loved seeing everybody meet up at Lester's factory or the lot off El Rancho to plan stuff, and the Bureau Raid is easily my preferred heist.

4. There's a lot of "hidden" sh*t. Just playing the game, you probably aren't going to know about the Epsilon missions or the Lenora Johnson case unless you really explore the overworld and the in-game Internet. It's one step closer to Skyrim in a Grand Theft Auto-type setting.

5. Every character has their own personal, respawning vehicle.

6. There's a lot of content on Bleeter and the characters' Lifeinvader pages. Being able to track your progress in the game's story isn't a new feature by any means, but it's well-implemented nonetheless.

7. I get that this isn't uncontested, but I do think the vehicles handle better than IV.

8. The missions as a whole are very smooth. There aren't really too many that you'll end up dreading or that feel like a chore, and for me at least, the partially regenerating health made the game much more enjoyable without making it too easy. The cover system is well-done, and your weapons have good range.

Yeah there's so much extra story content in stuff like Liveinvader and Bleeter, Hangout mode, internet and radio news, character switch cutscenes... I felt like it took me beating the game 3 or 4 times before I really started to get a grasp on such all the extra flavour details everywhere.

Agree with your other reasons, too. "Smooth" is a great way to describe the missions. Probably one of the best parts was how much better paced V is the other GTAs. Usually GTA games get massively bogged down by so many new 'surprise' characters that have nothing to do with the plot -- they're great if you like the characters but otherwise they're horrible. Every GTA has at least 1 or 2 that I just dislike, and with not compelling relation to the core plot, they just ruin the pacing. V's pacing is just so smooth though. Also, the planning and meet-ups at Lester's, El Rancho, T's meth lab, the fishing docks, etc are definitely great and one of the best parts of the FIB missions. Almost every 'meet up' with the FIB is one of my favorite cutscenes -- I don't always like the story but it's super cool to see them meet up and plan stuff.

I miss Lester's textile factory :( Wish we could have turned that into a Safehouse! and T's meth lab should have a garage.

1. big map with lots of diversity

2. los santos. a lot of sunshine

3. better driving. cars feel unique. don't feel like boats anymore.

4. 3 characters. pretty cool being able to switch between them.

5. return of planes. love flying.

6. fun story that doesn't take it self seriously.

basically, it's not GTA IV.

Despite it not being my favourite GTA (IV has that title) there's still a ton of reasons why I love it. In no particular order;

- I've followed the series since the very beginning. Simply seeing how far it's come is a joy in itself.

- The car selection, customization and street racing circuit. One of my favourite hobbies is to roleplay Franklin as an ambitous racer. I spend my days making moves (robbing Gruppe Sechs trucks, gas stations or stores, dabbling in stocks), scouring the map for different cars and then testing them before taking them to race meets. Sounds basic but it keeps me entertained for quite some time.

- BICYCLES! one of my favourite things in San Andreas was cycling. I love how I can relive my old passtime of cycling up and down Mt. Chilliad. The physics make it more of a challenge in V so getting to the bottom in one clean run after jumping and tricking my way down feels great.

- Snapmatic. So many cool details in this game, it's great that I can now capture them. I usually keep a photo journal of each story playthrough I do and I still keep finding new things, bringing to my next point;

- The density of the map. I thought IV was about as good as it could get for immitating a living city but V topped that and then some. I could write a damn essay on all the little details scattered throughout the map.

- The rural/desert areas. I love LS but road tripping through the sticks is always fun.

- The character switching system. Great for character building and convenient for when you're getting a bit bored.

- Michael, I like the fresh outlook on things from a family man and it's fun playing midlife crisis man: playing golf, losing at golf, smashing all cars in the golf clubs carpark, getting drunk at the Vanilla Unicorn, getting thrown out of the Vanilla Unicorn, getting into random punch ups, etc.

- Trevor, which seems to be an unpopular opinion here. I like how Rockstar went a bit deeper than making him just another psycho, though it doesn't always show. Plus he had me laughing out loud a bunch of times.

- Triathlons. Another welcome return from San Andreas.

- Motorbikes don't handle like they did in IV.

- The police system. For me it's just right and made me re-think my evasion tactics. Now I'm darting down alleyways looking for ladders and buildings to scale as well as simply using my car to escape.

- Pam Grier is the DJ for The Lowdown. Pam Grier.

- You get to tattoo a dick on Lazlow.

- Decent clothings options.

- The beards.

- Simply driving around as one character whilst hanging with another and hearing their discussions.

- The Western Daemon. So good it has a point all to itself.

- The heist planning. Some might find it boring but I like the realism. As epic as Three Leaf Clover was it always struck me as odd how you just got shoved into that situation with little warning.

- Dressing Trevor and Michael up in the same outfit and taking them out on bro-dates.

- Wildlife. Particularly the wildcats. I crap myself just a bit each time I hear one of them coming. :panic:

- Nods to past GTA's and other Rockstar games. I was so happy when I figured out where to buy the Love Fist vest for Trevor.

- Being able to save anytime outisde of a mission using your phone.

- Buying cars/boats/bikes online. Sure you can steal most of them but grinding and saving up for them makes getting them a lot more rewarding.

I agree, It's time to see some more positive in these forums!

Reasons huh? Well let's just say it took pretty much everything I loved about IV, pretty much everything I loved about SA and pretty much everything I loved from VC too and put it into one game with an even more detailed world and a load of stuff to do. It exceeded my expectations because I kept them realistic and I am looking forward to replaying this on Xbox One more than playing any of the other games coming out this month.

Oh yeah! How could I miss that! The score was incredible and suited the theme of the game very well. I'd even go as far as saying it gave GTA even more personality than it already had! I'm really looking forward to hearing it again later this month!

For me it is my escape world, No other game comes close.. not one does what Rockstar do for me. If I want to rampage I can rampage, or just fly.. drive.. troll pedestrians, hike up the mountains.. go scuba.. the list is endless. Then with online you can do it with tonnes of other people from every part of the world you would never actually meet offline. Its just fun and everybody gets it.

I have my social time with friends, I date girls.. i work my job.. but when im having a chill day or a night in.. I HATE TV its awful, Movies are just as bad.. The internet is what it is. You can only jack off to hot blondes online for so long before you need something else to leave you content... GTA woot.

Because it is THE No.1 open world game ever made untill the current gen V comes out. And right next to RDR.

You can count on the fingers of one hand only how many 3.rd person open world games with a huge map full of beautifull countryside have been made. And only few of them are breath taking. V takes the cake of course.

Countryside and animals are two things not many games have. And that`s where R* are the best at.

GTA V- the game so awesome that even haters can`t stop playing it. More they hate it, more they play it!

I like the missions, they're varied. The one where Trevor chases the crashing plane, i played that thinking holy sh*t i really like this, and the other one where you drive along the train as Trevor, i missed the bloody thing so much the 1st time i played that. The majority of the missions were quite good actually.

Varied missions is what i like too in V. In IV they were so repeatable that it started to really iritate me. Chase that guy and kill that guy- that was all IV missions had. But in V they are all diferent and it isn`t just about chasing and shooting someone.

To me, V is the game with highest replay value among all series. I`ve replayed it more than 20x times and i`m still not bored of it.

I just wished there were more missions than just 69.
