Why did Billy betray The Lost?

Recommended Posts

Pau Diaz

Did the police coerce him to do it? Did he want The Lost to go down for personal reasons?

Billy looked pretty dedicated to me. When I first played TLAD, I did not expect him to turn against his own. He looked like the devoted sort to me. On GTA Wiki, it said something about Ray poisioning Billy against Johnny. Does anyone have any more insight into the subject?

I always assumed the FIB agent that kept harassing Johnny eventually took his own advice. He said something along the lines of "Some other members of your crew aren't as loyal as you." I took that as the agent got to Billy. A combination of Ray and Brian talking sh*t about Johnny, the FIB cutting a deal with him and his overall psychotic nature after being released from rehab in the beginning of the game lead to the club's demise.

No, I think Billy was caught before he turned. Agent Jones was referring to Brian when saying 'some aren't as loyal as you'. Brian has no explanation when Johnny confronts Brian about what happened to Billy when he was arrested, something that pissed me off that Johnny didn't press him more on because it'd have evaded the whole war, but I guess that was sort of the point. Presumably Agent Jones easily manipulated Brian into believing he could head up the Lost MC and he'd only have to turn Johnny and Billy over, of course the only goal Agent Jones had was to cause infighting within the Lost which he succeeded.

Furthermore, when Johnny goes to Brian's house to kill him alone, Brian is seen cutting a deal of some kind on the phone trying to avoid prison time. Presumably when Brian's 'leadership' of The Lost wasn't going at all like he had hoped.

Billy was obviously making a play but his only thing at that point was trying to get the Triads to kill Johnny in exchange for getting the heroin back for free (other than killing Johnny and Jim). After being caught, Agent Jones simply appealed to Billy's obvious desire to destroy Johnny.

He clearly believed in it once. "Five years ago, Billy woulda' lead the charge into Alderny State himself! He may have helped build up this club, but he sure as sh*t ripped it apart."

The hounding of federal agents probably encouraged Billy to turn, but the initial catalyst was probably the drugs. The early missions in TLaD were murder to satisfy Billy's blood lust. He was a strung out narcissist who kept reminding everyone who their leader was.

What was kinda disappointing is that Billy really WAS the guy "sticking the finger to this sh*tty thing we call 'conformity'." Driving around, smoking, f*cking, and murdering anything he pleased. Johnny wasn't an idealistic biker, putting business before the lifestyle, he was a realist. Had I not seen all the places where Billy deliberately and selfishly f*cked up and where Brian was a little kiss-ass sh*t, I'd probably be on his side instead of Johnny's side.

Billy was nothing but greedy and a sell-out from day one. When Jason was murdered, Billy made it look like he wanted vengeance but really he just wanted the Angels of Death MC heroin which was in the clubhouse and to get his hatred out against the AOD. With Johnny believing that seizing the heroin was a bad idea, I don't think Billy really trusted him or didn't think he was dedicated enough to the cause of making money for the club. Then Billy sent Johnny to see Elizabeta Torres for details concerning selling the heroin, but it turned out the deal was an undercover sting. When that didn't work, Billy made another deal with a Triad lieutenant apparently concerning "selling the heroin", but the basis was that Johnny and Jim would go into the building and the Triads would murder the both of them. When all failed and Billy thought he was the one that was set-up, Brian didn't really cover the plan up enough and was implying that it was better off Johnny being killed/set-up than Billy. With Billy in police custody, he had a mountain worth of charges and I don't think he saw another way of bringing down Johnny than talking to the authorities.

I think Billy betraying the lost was a pretty dumb move, in my opinion. I mean, when the Lost were united, they were a force to be reckoned with. They had charm, character, drive, spunk and then when Billy was taken out of the picture, they no longer had the kind of appeal they did at the beginning of the TLAD. Okay, Johnny did well as leader, I have to admit, but the group was never the same. I only wish Billy and Johnny had resolved their differences.

This,he being a drug addict and mentally unstable contributed to his betrayal, don't get me wrong here there is plenty of people who are more "stable" making use of drugs, you don't see Trevor making use of drugs, but you clearly see that due to his childhood abuse he is unstable and even people who are considered "familiar" are not confortable around him.

Yeah, I agree with you.

With Billy out of the picture, the Lost MC wasn't the same. But I'm glad something happened to Billy, he was really in for himself and wild. He wanted to start wars and cause havoc without any proper reason. If Billy stayed in the Lost MC for a longer duration of time then I guess the Lost would of ended earlier. The original members would run for cover due to the Angels of Death MC having a large influence throughout the entire US and the heavy attraction by the authorities. Johnny saw that from the start, and eventually the others picked up on that. Brian and the rest were disillusioned and were really stuck-up dicks and were in for themselves. Sooner or later, Johnny would of been taken out by Billy and I'm glad he wasn't.

IMO, Billy was annoyed that Johnny wasn't running the club as he saw fit, such as when Johnny sold Billy's bike to pay for his lawyer's fees. He mentioned that Johnny wasn't a brother to him anymore in Chinese Takeout ('I guess a disloyal Jew bastard ain't worth sh*t to me'), and perhaps, as with Stretch in GTA V, things had changed since being released from prison. Of course, people are right with his wanting to start chaos, be in it for the money and so on (what with the heroin and all), but I'd like to also add that Billy wanted The Lost to return to how it used to be back when he was president.

Billy had small dick syndrome and was jealous of Johnny. he was just a control addict and pretty unstable. i dont think he was very smart either. he thought he could do as he please cause he's the leader. which backfired at him.
