Working at the docks with the Dock Handler

Dunno for repetitive missions... (recall shoveling mutant cow sh*t for XP in FOnline), but for heist and missions it would a cool, even a throwback feature.

And should it be included in freeroam, so please as a part of trucking missions feature. Loading up, driving away.

Also, why this can't even flip a car?

Stuff like this would be good for immersion. It would also be great if we could deal in drugs and set up a large drug enterprise, thereby giving you the feeling to actual be someone in that world. It would be great if crews could then become actual crime enterprises, instead of just a bunch of guys going on killing sprees.

yes indeed, but you really think they can handle that kind of stuff when it took them 6 years to make the crapfest we currently play? GTA 2020, maybe, haha!

anyway OP are you serious?

they finally seemed to understand that we don't need useless repetitive dates or cousins to go bowling with

and I think that after GTA:O they probably won't bother with the silly sh*t like tennis or golf since literally no1 is playing it. (could be wrong though they are pretty dense over at R*)

and now you're asking for about the most boring activity possible, heck if you like driving forklifts I'm sure there's some factory that will hire you

just keep that sh*t out of my ENTERTAINMENT thank you very much

if anything we need vigilante missions or something

Nice contradicting yourself there. People play golf and I get quite a few invites to tennis, surprisingly. Just because you don't play sports in a video game doesn't mean there's no sport games. While we're at it, why not tell Madden to stop making games? Hell, you should just go out and get your own concussions. Just keep that sh*t out of my ENTERTAINMENT thank you very much.

how exactly am I contradicting myself?

I don't mean literally no1 is playing but the fact that you like to play some extremely crappy golf minigame with your 1 boring friend does not mean it has a place in this game

same goes for tennis.

GTA should stick to what it's good at and leave the sports business to EA or something

ow and who ever said anything about sports games?

not me, that's for sure, so I don't know why you're dragging madden into this

I'm talking about these shallow 2 button mini-game nonsense not actual sport games

but since you're asking

yes people should just stop with that silly misnamed sport altogether (football? more like handegg)

there's like literally 2 minutes of actual playtime in an entire game

I've seen coma patients more exciting than that XD

but that's kind of besides the point entirely

not having anything like this is a conscious choice on their part and by no means a lack of resources or anything.

there's text based crime games that do exactly this, overlaying such a mechanic on the game we have now should be no challenge at all for a multimillion dollar company like R*

they just chose not to do it.

As a legitimate source of income in GTA Online we should be able to work at the docks with the Forklift and Dock Handler moving crates and cargo to a designated area, then load them with the crane onto semi-trailer trucks in a way similar to what we did in Scouting the Port. We could get paid by the crate or shipping container we move and load, or by the hour. This actually makes sense since we'd be shipping all those damn cars Simeon keeps bothering us about that he wants to ship abroad.

You obviously think this would be a good earner. Believe me, it is not.

It's really not about the money as much as it being something new to add to the remastered version of GTA V.

I could argue once more to prove my point but that sentence is proof you're the type of person to ask someone in a wheelchair if he's able to play QWOP so I won't even bother with you.

f*ck it, I'll bite.

GTA can explore other mediums and do what the f*ck it wants. GTA Vice City introduced properties to buy and continued in SA because it was popular. But then again vigilante missions, very popular side-activity, isn't present in GTA V so it's not quite clear how R* thinks. And who said anything about sports games? I did. GTA V has an extensive golf game that could rival that of Tiger Woods games (not as in-depth and has as many options but it's still a 9 hole game that can easily last 30 minutes a game with 4 players). It's clear you never played golf in GTA V as there's no "two buttons" such as tennis does. You need to pick your golf stick, where you'll hit the ball, you can spin it in the air to change its direction and even use a sidewalk for one of the holes to get an advantage (tactics!). You also can't prove exactly how many people play golf so to say that only my boring friend and I play it is wrong as I've seen many players and met many of them via golfing. Also, you're contradicting yourself by saying;

"they finally seemed to understand that we don't need useless repetitive dates or cousins to go bowling with

and I think that after GTA:O they probably won't bother with the silly sh*t like tennis or golf since literally no1 is playing it."

You're saying they seem to understand that no one liked the "useless" and "repetitive" dates and bowling yet bowling was a great minigame and even spawned many GTA IV memes such as Roman who wants to go bowling and Niko bowling like an angel. With that said, if they understood GTA IV minigames and dating was useless, it shouldn't be in GTA V, right? Dating isn't but minigames are now overhauled - thus contradicting yourself.

Have a nice day.

I've edited my post to reflect my thoughts (typing it while you blatantly insulted me).

make an assertion and as soon as it gets challenged you back out yet still maintain that you're right. (over something that was obviously a joke and completely besides the point nonetheless)

That would do it. I used to work at a lumberyard and a forklift like the in-game one would have trouble moving a lift of cedar, let alone flipping a car.

Well this is a forum so everyone is allowed to join in any conversation. Also, I've edited my post on how you contradicted yourself and how retarded you are for wanting to exclude fun minigames from GTA. I can tell you right now that those who played GTA IV The Lost & Damned loved the sh*t out of air hockey.

I know a mustang gt weighs in at around 3500 lbs. That's what I drive...and the forklifts we used that looked about that size are rated for 2500 lbs. but whatever. It's a video game lol. I also discovered that none of the trucks in game can haul a pallet of cement without bottoming out hard, so no realism there.

I'd expect a forklift of that size to lift a lot more than 2,500 lbs (1.113 tons), and I say that as someone who drives an 8 or 10 tonner as part of their job.

8 or 10 tons? That's pretty big. Either, way, what you'd expect is irrelevant in this case. As I said, this is a game. But even if it wasn't, comparable to the size of a dominator,(mustang gt) the in game lift is approx. the same size as the ones we used to use, and the load capacity was 2500 pounds. Period. It's not what "I'd expect", it's what I know for certain. There's nothing to argue about. ANYWAY, back on topic for change. What about stealing containers instead of actually working there? Like having to offload them onto a truck and drive the truck somewhere to deliver the goods?

Stealing containers would be a pretty nice addition as well; we load the shipping containers onto a semi-trailer truck and sell them to make easy money. So, how do we get into the port without making a scene, stealth, sniping security or do we go guns blazing?

I was down there looking around a little while ago, and I think it would have to be at least four people, two to split up and distract security/cops, one driver, and one lift operator to load the things and then ride shotgun to protect the load. This sounds like a heist now, but if it could be done one every two in game days or something, it could be feasible. What would be interesting I think is if the containers held different crap all the time, and you risk ending up with nothing for your trouble lol.

I 'stole' one of those container moving machines from Titan of a Job once, but it spawned in the middle of the 'road ring' at the airport in freeroam and it won't go under the elevated road.

Are there any containers in freeroam that can actually be moved by that vehicle?

Role Play? :)

Sure! Helluva idea....! Seen it here in a few threads, so I'm not opposed to any idea they could legitimately make GTA:O Cash! Maybe some more ideas to throw around:

1. Dock Work. (For OP's sake) ;)

2. Dock Security.

3. Airport Worker. (Moving planes, security, hired pilot for smuggling operations?) I know, I said legit! :)

4. Emergency Services. Police, Fire, Medic.

5. Lifeguard.

6. Tow Truck driver/Repo man. Works in single player... Why not?!

7. Beach Bum. (We can give money, maybe someone would be willing to give to beggars?) LoL!

8. Prostitute. Yeah, not "legal" work, but legit and the actions are already there!! X^)

9. Ship Captain. Cruises? Yachts? Ferryboat? Smuggler/Runner?

10. Military. Oh you know you want to!?

11. Humane Labs work.

Maybe some illegal activities?

1. Hitman/Assassin. Lester does it now, but kinda lame. Kinda similar to bounties, I suppose?

2. Bounty Hunter. If cops can arrest, criminals should be allowed to break out/jump bail, so somebody has to be Dog & Crew, Brah!

3. Pimp. Gotta protect ya ho's!

4. Hooker/Prostitute.

5. Stripper. Dancing could be as simple as Luis' dance routines in Gay Tony. :)

6. Business Owner. (Own stores for clothing, convenience stores, Ammunation, YouTool, LSC...? Maybe even a dance club?)

7. Land Tycoon. (Similar to previous GTA:SA where gang land takeovers, are now hostile land area take overs zones?)

8. Kidnapper. (Maybe sell certain folks to Cults, like in SP)

9. Serial Killer. Hey, why not!? ;)

Just saying. FWIW.

Just takes a little imagination, Folks! Again, role play how ya like, but the majority of any of these "jobs" suggested could be done in Solo, Crew, and Open Lobbies.

I wasn't really thinking of role playing a dock worker but more of on the side activity to make some legal and illegal cash by shipping both contraband and legitimate shipping containers. You move shipping containers from point a to point b with the Dock Handler or forklift and load them on a semi-trailer truck with the crane, then you either continue until the day is up or you decide to hijack one and sell it to the highest bidder. Either way you look at it it's something new to occupy our time in free mode as opposed to the run and gun scenarios currently present.

I like your idea about the different cargo the containers have each time you decide to hijack one. One time it could be shipping Simeon's cars abroad, or taking a container full of pineapples, or another time you could hijack Merryweather cargo loaded with firearms and other weapons and you could sell it to Trevor, then he would reroute the cargo to Mexico for the cartels to use in their drug wars.
