Rockstar should stop support for PS3 and 360 & focus on NG

I don't want to invest in a new gen console and if they decided not to release story dlc for my 360 version it would kill what little faith I have left in them. Just a f*cking awful idea on so many levels.

This will make a lot of the people on here who whine and complain upset but it's the truth.

 

First, R* has already supported the game for over a year most games do not get that amount of support, free DLC and patches.

 

Second of all, anyone who has played a next gen game can easily realize how much better the new consoles are. They can support better graphics, better frame rates, better controls, better physics, better AI, more realistic worlds, more things going on at once, when GTA V came out on the PS3 the first half a year that I played it I was wowed and thought it was a technological masterpiece after getting my PS4 and not playing it for a few months it was very hard to come back to, because of issues like the frame rate, lack of varied traffic, and not much pedestrians or traffic around.

 

Third of all, eventually just about everyone who likes to play video games and likes GTA will upgrade. If your so much of a GTA fan that your posting on here and upset about missing features in the PS3 version chances are you are either going to quit playing video games all together, or will upgrade your console or computer. Chances are the PS3 or Xbox 360 won't be the last console you own. Do you honestly think that in 2 years when more and more people buy a next gen console and when the prices drop somewhat that a lot of people will still be playing the PS3 or Xbox 360 version online? Is it even a lock that Xbox Live for the Xbox 360 will still be around within 2 more years?

 

Fourth of all, the next generation version is closer to the true vision of what R* wanted to make in the first place. It should have all the support possible as it's the version of the game that people are going to be playing until the next GTA comes out. It should have as many new features, as many bugs fixed, and as many additions as possible.

 

I understand what you mean I think they should concentrate on the new gen more but they should also focus on last gen because like other people have said there are 35 million + who have got this game and many are still on old gen since the new gen only came out late last year and it would seem unfair to those who are not planning on upgrading yet or those who cannot afford it (me included atm for hopefully a few more weeks until I have the money) but like I said and I do agree they should put just that little more effort into the new versions.

If they want profit, they should stop making anything for the ps3 and x360.

 

I know they will lose some fans, but we all know R* can f*ck GTA VI in every way possible and we are still going to buy. (atleast GTA Lovers)

 

 

As old gen console guy talking, I wont be surprised if they stop making DLC's and Updates for old gen, ofc I wont like it, but thats how it is.

 

 

Atleast they gave us all the free content till now, some people dont realise that.

you say it as if it was that easy to do, but believe me, getting a job specially in third world countries is pretty hard, also you're not taking into account that each people has different needs, not everyone has enough money to buy a new console not even with a job, a week or two?, hahahaha

I mean honestly OP, if R* dropped support on LG, that would be f*cked up and here is why....

 

 

LG is the reason the NG version exists.

 

If it weren't for any LG consumers to buy GTA V at all, you would not have this NG version in-front of you, I can guarantee it.

 

As well, most of the players still play on LG regardless of NG being released.

Last-gen will be a viable revenue source for quite a while and it's not that hard for Rockstar to to make last-gen versions of everything they make for current gen. The differences are in the level of detail in the world, not in the gameplay. Building everything with multiple levels of detail is basic to building an open-world game, so this is a natural evolution for Rockstar. When last-gen is no longer bringing in enough money to pay for the relatively low incremental cost of maintaining it in parallel with current gen, they'll let it go.

but for millions of people across the planet that's not the case not everyone can afford new things, they might have family's and bills to play life has to come first before spending money on whatever you want. But like you said it can be easier when getting older but that depends on what responsibilities you have if you where younger, with no home no kids you don't have that much to do other than pay rent to you parents if you are working (also depends if you parents even make you pay rent) other than that you have money to spend but its different for say someone who's either younger or older depending on who has kids husband/wife a home that they need to pay for those things first.

no one is forcing owners to just flush all systems down the drain once a new one comes out.. but damn how long have we known about this "next gen" crap BEFORE it's initial release.

I still have all the nintendo's, and a OG playstation, but damn if I'm playing the same games or better ones on an older system. Just keep em for the classics and let it go. just let it go.

If every GTA V owner had current gen then yes, but a lot of people are sticking with last gen, if i was stuck on last gen either through choice (an odd choice) or not being able to afford a new console i'd be a bit annoyed if they just dropped it, i think anyone would.

 

They did make sh*t loads of money, now they're getting even more, so it's not a budget thing. Rockstar have a lot of staff too, so they can do both, obviously current gen will get the better version though.

 

Although if they did drop last gen they could focus more on the new version, rather than the old gen holding them back, which it will kind of do.

 

I'm sure any DLC, will probably have an extra or 2 for current gen, story DLC may have a few extra things, you can't really moan about that though and come off as a reasonable human being.

Ok fine, my TV display tends to show the resolution as 1080P but when I play GTA V it shows 720P, I would have figured it would have been down scaling based off of that you got me on that one.

 

Either way, my point still stands that the game is not at the native resolution of most modern TV's, when I play GTA V compared to just about every other game it looks significantly worse on this TV, it's blurry, text is harder to read, and it is laggier on a 720P TV it plays better.

 

 

My basic point of this thread, is why bother to release new updates and try to keep a game up to date that is going to be so technologically inferior to the new versions? Especially when the new versions of the game need incentives that will make average people ( beyond the average person who just cares about graphics ) want to buy it?

 

 

From a business standpoint and a technological standpoint supporting GTA V on the PS3 and Xbox 360 any more and releasing a story mode DLC in the middle of next year when a much larger group of people will have moved on from the PS3 and Xbox 360 to the new consoles doesn't make much sense.

 

Because, luckily for us, YOU'RE NOT FROM R*, you don't know jack nor understand the things you're told. The support will continue bc, essentially, it's not bothering them. They're doing a 20 car DLC for next gen? No problem, let's put a 10 car DLC for last gen. Everyone's happy, no one's whining. Period.

 

Plus, cutting out all the support and stuff, they're going to basically give the finger to 20 million persons who bought the game, that's not even 1 year old. You call that wise? I call that an incredibly dumb move.

 

Like what, Microsoft are a company full of dumbasses just because they supported Windows XP till April 2014 (and their support lasted kinda 13 years)? "Gee, buy Vista, it's all good looking and shiny! We're not updating XP anymore 'cause our new OS is so beautiful and you HAVE TO upgrade if you want some features more, byatch."
