First Person = Murder Simulator?

The recent rumors of R* adding first person perspective to GTAO brought a smile to my face.

 

To me, it is among the final steps to creating a truly immersive game that closely replicates a realistic modern day environment.

 

Why go through all the effort of creating realistic cities, buildings, roads, vehicles, pedestrians, weapons, weather, animals, etc. just to make us view it hovering 10 feet in the air watching an avatar interact with it?

 

Some may be concerned that first person perspective in such a game creates too strong of a connection between the player and the realistic violent nature of GTA.

 

However, I think it is THE WAY to experience a game with such ambitious replication of our modern day environment.

I've hopped into lazers & buzzards to improve my flying/shooting skills recently and found that 1st person makes it easier to hit targets, but can't imagine ALL of GTA being that way.

 

Driving, perhaps, except for tanks - how would you use the turret?

I'm not sure I'd use it on the PS4/XB1 versions, but it would be brilliant (and almost essential) on the PC version (mouse+free aim).

I never said there hasn't been a FPS before...I was speaking in general when I said it's the last step to creating an immersive game.
