It seems like one side of Rockstar seeks unconditional enhancements to the game. They don't have most if any additions to GTA Online require payment.

Then the other side alters the game in ways that would make cash cards sell more, sometimes to the frustration of the players.

 

These two concepts interact. If shark cards weren't selling, Rockstar would likely be unable to make those additions to GTA Online. GTA V's sales were ground-breaking, but GTA Online needs a steady supply of income because Rockstar has made it clear they want GTA Online to be a continuing project. No renewable supply of profit = No finance for GTA Online.

 

Obviously, the only other steady supply of income if shark cards were out of the question would be to require payment for every addition to GTA Online. Games such as Call of Duty do this and while it does work, it's more frustrating for all parties at the end of the day.

If you think about it, Rockstar's seriousness over protecting shark card revenue isn't entirely them being greedy and out for the cash. It keeps GTA Online afloat in a way that gives players a choice instead of forcing payment. I'd say it's definitely better than the alternative.

Anything which is discussed more on the Internet than in real life gets a magnitude of hatred and criticism it would not get in the real world or in old media.

 

A textbook example is George Lucas — yes, the Star Wars prequels are weird and disagreeable in some ways, but the guy created Star Wars. Star Wars is at least two really great movies with moments of greatness in all of them. Any creator who gets trapped in his own franchise can develop a dysfunctional and uncomfortable relationship with demanding fans. When Lucas finally admitted it had gotten to him and said, “Why should I make any more when everybody yells at you all the time and says what a terrible person you are?” I realized, and other people should realize, that the people who create the stuff we obsess over are fully within their rights to take their ball and go home. (Fortunately, Lucas passed the ball to Disney before going home.)

 

The people at Rockstar are smart and I hope they've learned to just filter the Internet hate and take it as an inevitable phenomenon of the medium that they shouldn't engage with emotionally. There are substantive ideas and valid criticism online but you see a lot of other stuff trying to find it.

I think its because there's no SP DLC, johnny getting killed, online (which millions play) and lack of things like vigilante missions and everything from every other GTA.

 

The conspiracy theories, the whole 'rockstar are milking us' from people who apparently know nothing about the real world, are all quite funny

Why is single player so important apart from campaign and getting 100%. Almost anything u can do in SP u can do in MP apart from the lack of animals and some activities. Ive got 100% recently and I dont see why would I spend more time playing it, when I can just go and have fun with friends on MP. I pretty much only use SP now to pre customize cars so i know how they look for MP

Despite the countless discussions, some people still can't figure about the simple fact that one wants and hopes for, in essence, every GTA to be a better and new experience as much as possible.

Rockstar has consistently come so close in offering such kind of overall experiences, in the PAST without any SP DLC, without getting so many strong reactions from fans about things they want are missing, and being abused by fans, calling them as evil and bad, up and till the point of moving to HD.

I loved both IV and V simple for what potential it had during the pre-release days, but I can't help but feel disappointed that after their actual releases, Rockstar didn't tap enough of the potential to be hailed as a breakthrough strictly speaking of making the gameplay as fun, and engaging, with more variety, and better original content.

Simple as that.

Even the many disappointments I have have nothing much to do with any missing features, and even ONLINE, or any other conspiracy theories and all!

And to others V is a massive leap forward, has more to do than any of the old games, the best car selection, the best missions, biggest map, no vigilante missions though, no pizza boy stuff or gang wars, paramedic missions, the flame thrower, chainsaw, screwdriver? hydra or hunter, some other vehicles, clucking bell and burger shot, mr whoopee missions, buying houses in 2 of the games, that's about all that's not in. I'm really not sure what makes a GTA, these things?

 

If anyone expected these things, or whatever else isn't GTA enough for them, they're going to be disappointed. Luckily, for people who like the game, who don't just think about what it doesn't have, it sold sh*t loads, so there will be another one

 

At least they tried to make a step forwards, rather than back to please some people. That's not a bad thing.

IF Rockstar hated the fans, they would shut everything down and take their ball home. This hasn't happened. They are genuinely excited about GTA Online.

 

R* neither hate or love their fans! I tired of explaining this to everyone, R* is only making business, not making love for a God's sake! So if they do something to alienate or betray their fan base its not due to them being hateful, its because there were business background for them to do so! And in return if they do something, that their fan base likes or approves of, then its not because they LOVE them, it is because there were business motivation to do so! In both cases they could care less what their fan base think about this! Whether they likes or not! If there's someone, who doesn't like what they do with their business, there will always be someone who does, and vice versa! There should not be "love and hate" between customer and developer, there can only be a TRUST, that trust is managed based on whether business model is successful or a fail! If it it is successful - then developer gains more trust with its customer, if its not well...too bad for them! But there is no love and hate between these groups! Its bizarre people! LOL

Many gamers don't want to play games with other people, including their own friends. They get the best enjoyment gaming on their own. I never imagined something so simple and straightforward as that would be so hard to understand.

Not too far away there will be a new SP story dlc, most likely with new interiors, so basicially the things people have been complaining about all the time. I find it funny that the rest of the gaming community thinks GTA V is perfect and Rockstar put in more content in it then any other developer would have found necessary but the GTA community itself, It's dedicated fanbase bitch and whine and complain about it like self entitled pricks with nothing better to do then complain about everything down to the smallest detail that no sane person would give two sh*ts about. Other gaming communities would just go out there and say that every other game is inferior while this community inexplicably does the opposite and list every reason why the game sucks.

 

Let's face it, Rockstar has spoiled us.

I've got to admit some of the hate on the game itself is somewhat just, but to hate Rockstar themselves is atrocious. I guarantee that the next non-GTA title to be release will have everybody sucking their dick around here, yet by the time V DLC or another GTA in general comes out we're going to go back to the "Rockstar are dipsh*ts" phase. I swear GTA is doomed to face nothing but sh*t from now on around here.
