Rockstar hatred is absurd...

i've been lurking around these forums for the past few months, and the amount of hatred towards Rockstar is shocking. Hating on Rockstar on not releasing an update/DLC soon enough or not having enough cool stuff to buy/do in it is totally unnecessary. Rockstar is not required to release updates, especially FREE DLC, and they've been doing it once a month since the beginning of the year. Call of Duty releases gun camos once in a while and they charge you $2.99! be grateful that Rockstar loves its community enough to do this for us.

 

Also complaining about shark cards and re-releasing GTA 5 on next-gen because "[email protected] iz s0 gr33dy lulz" is also the dumbest thing i have ever heard. Rockstar sells shark cards so they can make some money back from all the DLC they create. developing and releasing updates/DLC AND running and maintaining the servers necessary to host GTAO is not free. Rockstar is not re-releasing GTA 5 on next-gen just to make more money. They're releasing it so YOU (if you are so inclined to purchase the game again) have the opportunity to relive one of the, if not THE, greatest GTA game ever released in a much more beautiful, detailed, and immersive way. They aren't required to release it on next-gen, so i'm sure if they didn't everyone would be bitching.

 

Anyways, all i'm trying to say is that be grateful for what you have and be patient with Rockstar, because they are doing everything they can to give you guys the greatest possible gaming experience.

This forum is a great place with a lot of really cool people, but it also gets some of the most rediculous complaints I've ever seen in my life as a gamer. And while some are justified, people bitching that Rockstar is greedy or that we were lied to is just getting obnoxious at this point.They released a complete, and breathtaking game and continue to crank out FREE DLC monthly. I don't know why else to say but that a lot of people around here are entitled. I grew up on games that you paid $60 for, beat in a half hour and hardly ever played again. And while there was the occasional Zelda or Final Fantasy or something with some real replay value, that wasn't the norm. Most games were a total rip compared to the experiences we get today. exactly! everyone is so spoiled these days. i played San Andreas constantly up until 4 came out, and i played that constantly until 5. GTA has some of the most replay value in any game i've ever played. i don't understand how almost no one else sees that.

Yes! And since you mentioned San Andreas, everyone has a right to their opinion of which GTA is the best, but if I hear one more person say that San Andreas is a deeper or more complex game that V is, I will scream. For the record, Vice City is still my favorite in the series, but I can take my fanboy goggles off and still enjoy V for what it is.

Correction, Rockstar doesn't make SOME money back from the ''free'' dlc they create, NO, they make an enormous amount of money compared to what they have to spend to create some guns, clothes and vehicle models, vehicles that also cost absurd amounts of money for you to run and grab a Shark Card to buy them.

Imagine you go to a shop to buy strawberry ice cream, only to realize back at home that the container only has frozen ice in it. Strawberries need to be purchased separately for a price of $3.00. OR, you can buy strawberries + chocolate sprinkles in a bundle for just $1.99!

 

Now apply this to virtually every recently released game and maybe you will understand why the hate. Especially against Rockstar, who in the past weren't anywhere near this greedy, and especially against effin players who support these ill practices.

It all started with R* announcing the coming of heists, nerfing missions the first time, and deleting vehicles from garages.

Also the monthly free DLC is now expected since R* started it. Complaints will follow every single time they're released or not released. LOL

I read less complaints about players being banned/console banned, bad sported, or put in the cheaters pool.

Where are the good times where a game was just the game you bought and that's all? Maybe some patches to improve performance,that's all.

 

I can deal with paid DLC if they are significant and fun, like Episodes From Liberty City, Undead Nightmare (Red Dead Redemption) or BloodDragon (Farcry 3), but most of the DLC content nowadays is pure bullsh*t to get even richer.

I dont see whats the problem with DLC's, they all look cool, and whats the best is that they are free. Sure items are overpriced in game, thats why you have 500 or more missions in Online that you can pass, then you have flight school DLC which gives alot of money, races, and other contents.

You are talking about bigger DLC's there, a story line DLC's. Rockstar is releasing small DLC's for GTA Online that are gladly free and all these will be available already in new gen and PC, so for example vehicles given from DLC's will be driven by peds from now on. YOu might complain why it didnt happen on PS3 and X360, but think about crap HDD space and crap ammount of RAM.

I simply cannot agree enough with the OP. I've been saying similar things for a while and it's really disheartening to see such belligerence and, yeah, impotent rage.

 

Gamers, in part due to the ability to post every single thought they have online, are some of the most obnoxiously vocal, entitled, critics of any form of modern media. You don't get such spite and venom on a movie forum, for example. But also due to their completely overwhelming sense of entitlement. Their lack of understanding in the financial requirements of making a game, or the process of creating and testing a game, or of how the world itself works, when compared to their petulant demands and expectations based on their suppositions and imaginings, derived from the content of a one minute long trailer, is embarrassing.

 

And yet these armchair experts demand so much for their measly fifty bucks. They expect repetition of previous features, which, if we had had all of, from all previous games, would have resulted in a piecemeal mess of incoherent and disjointed features that would make the game feel unfocused and, yeah, like a cheap sandbox clone like Saints Row. They want this, while claiming to be hardcore GTA fans, but this comes across as being afraid of innovation, afraid of risk. Not a hardcore fan, a fan that can only handle certain themes and feel GTA needs to be a clone of its past self. A fickle fan. The hardcore, and I count myself in that particular set, are those that stick by the game throughout all iterations and are able to love the game despite shortcomings, flaws and dips in quality and quantity.

 

That fear of innovation and need to have everything how it was before is sad. That's ignoring what Rockstar do best - propel the genre they defined forwards into new areas that some aren't ready for.

 

And that's why I'm a fanboy. And that's why I defend them. And that's why I fight against the entitlement and hatred. And that's why I'm here. I have always been increasingly impressed by each GTA and V was no exception for me. It is one of the best games I own, and one of the best I've ever played.

 

I can't understand why so much energy goes into their complaining. Surely if they don't like it and have moved on to other games, coming back to complain about the same things day in day out is a waste of their time?

 

There's no point to the hating. Hopefully the horribly vocal minority will pipe down soon, if they can bring themselves to move on to V.2.0.

 

And bear in mind, even if it's perfect and exceeds every expectation, some will still find things to complain about.

They are not 100% free -.- I said a thousand times why not, yet people here seem to not understand it.

 

And about the old gen thing, they cars are already in the HDD if downloaded and they would take as much RAM as any other car, so they could spawn too, but that's not the point. Plus there are stuff like apartments, clothes or items that you can't get in SP....

And most of the R* hate comes from the self-entitled PC gamers. They complained that they waited for years for that game even tho the PC version was officially announced at June 2014, and it was coming at FALL 2014 which is about 5months. Then it was delayed and pushed back to Jan 27, 2015, which means the wait is increased by 2months. You guys basically have to wait 7months, from June to Jan 27, 2015. GTA IV was released 8 months after the console release.

When it comes to the consoles I agree. When it comes to the PC that's a completely different story, and you aren't even talking about PC so I won't get into my thoughts on that.

 

But I also do not know where all the hate for Rockstar comes from with this game. To be honest it's nothing new. Similar hate was done when GTA IV was released.

People will complain to complain, and others will complain about others complaining about their complaints.

 

I don't understand why most of the people that complain about the game won't just trade it in or sell it for something else. I can understand for those that bought the digital version of the game because they're stuck with it...but for others that have the disk version, it's just...ugh.

 

This is why I don't come to this part of the forums that much. I like my IQ where it is. Too much GTA V section and I can begin to feel it drop with each thread I look through.

Are you sure you have been lurking on here for a few months? If so then i am sure you have already heard rebuttals for everything you just brought up. For instance your first point.. R* themselves said that this DLC was a way to sell sharkcards. Its no favor or gift to you. And yes, i am sure R* not releasing GTA V for next gen to make more money.. Just to be 100% honest with you. I Have played free to play games that update constantly and have good servers.
