Will R* Split GTA V And GTA Online?

Wow, I really hope im just reading that as sarcastic trolling, because if its not, please stop commenting.

Their longterm plans are to integrate all the next releases into one large world. This is no secret and can easily be found in interviews.

Imo this would be very easy as it would only entail adding in cutscenes of an airplane flying while you are loading up Liberty City or whatever the new game is.

Now whether or not they go with their big plans is another story. From what I have seen over the past year, I have my doubts.

Relax.

I want to see them make additions to GTA Online, but at what cost? And with what resources? Have you done the market research yourself? Unless they were to re-texture LC, and re-sell it, yes, pay for it, then I might agree with you. But there's very little incentive to to provide further content for GTA Online as it provides very little sources of revenue.

GTA has always been a single player game, and it's going to take a huge paradigm shift in creative development to shift GTA away from Story Mode to Online. What I am saying is that if they do make additions, they will be Single Player DLC additions, which are then reflected in GTA Online.

You need to put the horse before the cart.

New CITIES? where the f*ck is the source from? I'll be very happy if this is true.

In the trailer, Rockstar said something like "ever-changing and expanding world" so people jumped to the oddball conclusion that it must mean new maps..."changing" and "expanding" can mean anything, like the Online updates, but it's been rambled on so much that people actually think that new maps are coming...

...they're not

People need to understand that the majority of people who buy game consoles don't play games online and/or aren't video-game-freaks that constantly play games all day, every day...

...has any number been released of how many of the 33+ million copies of GTA V sold vs. the number of people that have played Online?

There was something i read that the take two ceo said about 70% of all copies sold played online.

The question is how many of those are still playing?

I'm not one to start jumping the gun etc but I think R* did specifically say expand to new areas in the future...now, in the future to me means around 10 years if your lucky (or at least forget about it for now)...but i am pretty sure they said its a definite possibility for the future adding that if the could they would create a world the size or earth...as in, that would be their ultimate expansion if they could manage it but take one step at a time...the interviewer then suggested that Liberty City would be an obvious choice as its already built. I know that sounds ridiculous but thats why I remember it...I think it was The Benz getting a bit hyper

It's already seperate. This is a trial run, we honestly have no idea where online will go and what it will expand into. The only thing we know is that this is R*'s baby and they're gonna try and make it a success.

I don't think they'll ever come on seperate discs though. I think the best theory is with every new GTA release it'll get bigger and bigger.

Wasn't there talk that future games would expand the online with the cities of each new GTA game? also that Liberty City might return but with larger suburbs and better res.... dunno if that means LC comes as DLC or another game...hope it's DLC as more LC single player is a bit much but online LC was fun. Anyway they (R*) did say they wanted to build the world in GTA lets hope so...

Miss Malevolent

To reply to miss malevolent,

Yes they are separate as such, but you can't play GTA Online without buying GTA V at the moment. So to go ahead with R*s plan for online in future, you will have to be able to play Online without GTA V...

Doesn't matter if you can't access without having the other. But I believe, and I may be wrong about it, as they release other games, those "worlds" will be added onto the base online structure that they have created with GTA V. Thus why I believe it is separate. You may always have to have a disc to access the onilne aspect...but that doesn't mean it will always have to be a GTA V disc...maybe a GTA V: Liberty City Disc or GTA 6 Disc or however long they plan on going with this thing. Maybe the game will go the entire life of the new systems...so we're looking at a possible ten years of GTA Online before we get GTA Online Version 2.

I can't see R* waiting until the next GTA to expand the map.

The whole GTA V project I have no doubt was sadly geared towards Online. :facedesk:

I just want to bring up my phone and select freemode like IV.

Thumbs up for that article.

I thought it was an interesting look into the psychology of how consumers view a "deal".

Take that last quote and take it to a mirror. GTA Was a single player game, and what you mention above is exactly what they have been doing!

Every update and accessory released so far is geared towards Online. Flight school the only SP game addition, but hey, its online too.

Is your Trevor character broke? Go buy a shark card! Ohh wait, online only.

I could go on, but I put the horse in front of the cart, hitched up, got on, and left you to wave to me as I ride into the sunset.

To reply to GRINCH ASS BITCH,

It came up in an interview with The Benz who said the expansion Into GTA Online could potentially become several places (towns, cities, areas or countries) all connected and i believe "even a GTA World", although I'd definitely take the last bit with a pinch of salt...

I wish R* would split 'em up then glitches from online patches wouldn't mess up SP if we look at the patch notes from 1.01 - 1.16 there full of online fixes ONLINE needs to die .......SP is what GTA is all about that's why most of us bought GTA V

GTA:O is killing the franchise .

Sometimes I feel bad responding, because posts like these almost embarrass themselves. But I'll help you save face and leave you with this instead: When a new Story Mode DLC is released for GTA V, and it retails for $20, I dare you to come back on this thread and tell me I'm wrong.

Deal?

Wait? Am I not expecting a single player dlc for 20? Because I am, probably a couple, surprised one hasnt been released actually. Still doesnt change anything I said before.

I accept your apology.

New game will bring new cities to online, so yes.

best icon ever!

GTA Online will be eventually independent from V, I assume. It will also evolve into something of a larger scale than it is now, judging by what Rockstar said in the pre-release time. New cities can and will be most likely added to the multiplayer component, without the need for a new game. That's not to say there won't be a new GTA in the future. There will be, most definitely.

I am seriously curious if the newly added cities and areas are going to be available for single player, though. If so, will they be exclusive to the next GTA or does V on next-gen and PC have a chance to get them as well?

Personally, it wouldn't surprise me if GTAO will be available as a seperate product (basically its own GTA, hence the name) down the line.

i agree with this guy.

The game is 1.5 years old, if there was going to be an addition, there would have been already...another 1.5 years and GTA 6 will be out...

Nope, GTA Online was an afterthought, and one of the reasons GTA V was delayed

The rank cap alone says it all, to have to set at 8000 could be for few reasons. 1 to catch the obvious not so smart attention seeking modder, or player who decided to get his account modded to 8000. Or that GTAO will continue with future GTA releases. But again as others have mentioned, it has to be taken with a very fine grain of salt.

GTA Online is a separate game, but is leeching main assets from the game it sticks to.

Unless you really want to buy, for example: GTAV (Los Santos) and then GTA:O Los Santos.

I hope that sometime in the future we will have a story based online mode. Imagine 3 protags that are each controlled by a real person.
