Will R* Split GTA V And GTA Online?

Hi guys/gals,

It's as the topic title says. Because if Rockstar are going to expand GTA Online in the future to different cities, regions or even countries they'll have to be separated at some point surely?

Do you think we'll see new areas as part of GTA Online itself or will they come along when a new GTA is released?

Look forward to hearing your opinions...

New game will bring new cities to online, so yes.

Drill Sergeant

I think they already have. They treat it like a separate game. Maybe we'll find out more in the future or when another GTA comes out.

ViceCityStalker

As above stated I`m pretty sure it is regarded as a seperate entity already it`s just that it comes with GTA V i`ll put my cock on a block and bet that GTA VI will also come with GTA Online when shipped as a way to save people downloading it.

GTA Online will be eventually independent from V, I assume. It will also evolve into something of a larger scale than it is now, judging by what Rockstar said in the pre-release time. New cities can and will be most likely added to the multiplayer component, without the need for a new game. That's not to say there won't be a new GTA in the future. There will be, most definitely.

I am seriously curious if the newly added cities and areas are going to be available for single player, though. If so, will they be exclusive to the next GTA or does V on next-gen and PC have a chance to get them as well?

Personally, it wouldn't surprise me if GTAO will be available as a seperate product (basically its own GTA, hence the name) down the line.

They should just have so they are two seperate discs because i hate having my ass kicked back to storymode when the servers start acting all funky.

Should they, yes.

Will they, hard to say.

Regardless, "speculation" must be the new drug on GTA forums, because everyone seems to know what is going to be a part of R* and GTA's future...

Buh it is already seperate, they are two different games, i bought gta v and didnt get online later for FREE.

R* said they would expand the map and everything which means i can just carry on playing with my ps3 copy! Yay! R* is number 1 . Stop whining and being so entitled.

Rockstar's core competency is Story Mode. The money invested goes to Story Mode, so either two things. Rockstar adds new and dynamic land masses to Story Mode, which are then reflected in GTA Online, or they just add re-textured maps from previous games, saving time and energy. I'd hate to see them do the latter, because that means it's just Call of Duty all over again, adding re-textured maps. Rockstar is better than that, and Story Mode is where it's at for GTA.

Because as it stands, there is no money to be made with GTA Online. We all know this.

If they were really treating it like a separate game, they would allow players to buy just the single player or online portion. But instead R* bundles them together, forcing players to pay the $60 (when it was $60 and new) for both. That way R* got more money. So C**Kstar puts them together, yet states that they are their own separate thing.

Just another TINY example of why I laugh at people who defend R*

It probably should have been sperate since its the combination that's made most of the glitches.

But rockstar wanted there to be some seamless switching between the two. I don't think its important since even after year most people haven't even played single player much.

I think you and Vineet Kumar would get along just fine ;)

To reply to miss malevolent,

Yes they are separate as such, but you can't play GTA Online without buying GTA V at the moment. So to go ahead with R*s plan for online in future, you will have to be able to play Online without GTA V...

If they want to keep online until gta VI or maybe even 7, they need serieus rebalancing. Most people are already over 100 or even 200. They need things to unlock.

I'm just excited to see how Online is going to transform over the next few years.

Playing from the start and seeing it blossom into something more will be an incredible experience.

So quit bitching and moaning to mods about what people say/do on here. :^:

I just want more involvement online, maybe story mode integration.

If they split it, you guys would want $30 per version.

I'm sure they'd much rather sell both at the same time for $60.

Wow, I really hope im just reading that as sarcastic trolling, because if its not, please stop commenting.

Their longterm plans are to integrate all the next releases into one large world. This is no secret and can easily be found in interviews.

Imo this would be very easy as it would only entail adding in cutscenes of an airplane flying while you are loading up Liberty City or whatever the new game is.

Now whether or not they go with their big plans is another story. From what I have seen over the past year, I have my doubts.
