Cargobob doesn't float on water

Every helicopter floats on water. You just have to make sure you lightly "land" on the water first. Then the trick is not spazzing out with your controller.

It's entirely useless, yes, but it's something.

You're like trying out a speculation about floating Cargobob which was discussed after a screenshot of it more than a year ago...

IRL I land my cargobob on sea every morning, drink some coffee and then get out for some underwater diving. It still floats.

I'm with you on this

You can float it while you're in it but if you get out you're f*cked mate. Need to give it a little throttle.

If you have to give it throttle or stay in it then simply it doesnt float does it. Never did.

You don't need to give it as much throttle as you would to normally lift a cargobob and it doesn't actually lift off the surface of the water. You just give it enough to kinda displace the water surface. I suppose it's kind of half way between flying and floating.

Cargobob DOES float on water, provided you land it with precision. Then you can use L3 and R2 to propel it.

The other helicopters cannot land on water, from my testing. Anyone have video proof of Landing a Maverick, Buzzard in water?

No helicopter floats. Its just an illusion of how the rotors work.

...why would you land a helicopter on water in the first place.

For something to "float," it needs to stay above water using buoyancy force and buoyancy force alone. If you're using any other force to stay up, you're not floating. So if you sink once the rotors stop turning, you were never floating.

Midnight Vibes

Helicopters can land on water, not float. Big difference. So yes, you're correct OP, it doesn't float, it lands. All helicopters do this.

If you are unable to access the skills required, does that make it impossible? Or just impossible for you?

By landing on water: what on gods green earth leads you to the logic that floating is not a factor? I urge you to elaborate on this "big difference". Edited by MantisFang

This. It all depends on your definition of "float"

Isn't that hovering above/in the water and not floating?

Let's not have the buoyancy argument again, it made you all look like dickheads last time.

This discussion started out with a non-existent OP has attracted too much spam and has degenerated into an argument over semantics.

We're done here.
