As everybody know GTA v is going to look amazing l, but my concern is the gameplay. Do anyone know if the shooting mechanism will be fixed because the shooting Is horrible, I'm not understanding how R* came from that amazing shooting of MP3 and red dead (single shooting guns) to this mess. Even gta 4 had better shooting that I enjoyed. With gta 4 and mp3 you could have a assault rifle and tap the trigger to get more efficient shots and accuracy when a target is at a longer distance. With gta v all you have to do is hold down the trigger I found out the hard way the first couple months tapping the trigger. With IV if you held the trigger the bullets would spread more and less accurate this bring a challenge to tdm and made the game fun. Its done got so dull when you go to a tdm the rules are ARs Only because the try-hards love that they can just hold the right trigger down and shift side to side. Speaking of that R* need to remove the hip fire from the game if there not going to add some kind of accuracy and bullet drop system like gta 4. And will the car handling have values like gta 4 I'm tired of the race car game feeling to the cars.

I really doubt we'll know that until it's released. There was no mention of any of that in the release info or the info that's since been removed.

I'm personally not a fan of the need for auto aim because of the lack of a full time sight dot like red dead and my main issue with driving is the deceleration game acts like the brake is lightly depressed at all times allowing you to corner without braking. Ruins racing in my mind. was also not the biggest fan of the cover it always tries to leave chunks of your char sticking out of cover to be shot so yeah i hope stuff like that is fixed. that and the vehicle top speeds but id imagine those would be fixed im taking that for granted tbh.

Overall for a game played in 3rd person the gun play of Gta 5 is good imo. Target assist/lock is good when 1st person aiming is not offered. Short bursts with automatic weapons provides the best results in most games as it often provides the accuracyy for more hits per shots

The cover system however is disappointing and often fatel when attempted. Online the cover system lags and often requires 2 taps instead of 1 tap. Also there is the standing up while i want to remain in cover along with the fidgety body movements often present in missions. Having a crouch option would help. However any cover system is better than not having any cover system in a game with gun play.

It's hard to compare GTA IV's shooting mechanics to GTA V's, given how different they are and how much these games differ from eachother. How long has it been since you've played GTA IV? It's almost an entirely different game. Seriously, pop it in.

GTA IV was MUCH more focused on shooting, thus it's combat was much more fluent, (until somebody would walk past the wall you're hiding behind and then whoop your ass), - It improved vastly with the installments of Red Dead Redemption, and Max Payne 3, - but those games were focused on shooting entirely, that is why they were so great in that category.

GTA V isn't trying to focus a great deal on one thing. It isn't trying to focus a great deal on shooting. Sure, there are problems, but it's a GTA game, not Max Payne 4. I'd say it has a nice balance of focus in everything. It brings a game to you that is the master at none, but good at everything. (IMO). Besides, the game is too much of a monster already to introduce the same shooting mechanics featured in Max Payne 3 and GTA IV, it just isn't possible on last gen consoles, so be happy with what you got.

Rockstar took an 'arcadey' approach to GTA V, and honestly, given the game's theme, I'm okay with that.

Agreed in terms of lack of memory and resources for the old systems i feel it is as good as it can be for ps3/360 however for ps4/one id expect it to be better with all the added resources it would be simple to have a high end combat system high end driving mechanics and rich graphics all at once. Whether it will or not remains to be seen though.

Whether it will or not remains to be seen though. yes this is what I'm saying. Imo GTA v only stepped the graphics up to me. The detail in story didnt improve, shooting, pedestrians, city interactions, side missions, continuous play value, there is absolutely no interiors to explore and most importantly the driving. There is no such thing as frame damage suspension damage. The car damage is very important. In gta 4 you had to worry about if I hit this car or wall to hard I can1. Fly out the wind shield and die instantly or I can total my car out. Do you know how much this would help in online mode. The try hard kids wont be driving wreak less in supercars trying to throw sticky bombs on you or your car. With the handling they would be losing control more and crashing more eventually totaling there car out and that's when the mechanic fees kick in on there butts then they would think twice in using there personal cars to be a troll. I'm just saying some of GTA 4's mechanism would do justice for GTA v. I complain because I'm a fan on GTA series and I grew up playing driver and GTA so this I my type of gaming genre

Well, it ain't getting better on last gen. It just is not capable.

GTA V was never trying to be what GTA IV was. GTA IV introduced a much more bottlenecked world, and was completed with realistic driving mechanics, and realistic cover mecanics to pad the game's ideals.

GTA IV is a gritty, crime-ridden and dangerous world, where killing gets you somewhere - This was what GTA IV aimmed to be, and they succeeded. They wanted to illustrate to the player with these beautiful features to make the player feel more immersed in the big city.

This, however, imo, wasn't the aim of GTA V. The aim of GTA V was to introduce the player to a scene of wealth, and extremely risky crime, - To me, GTA V was aimming to be a bit like an 80s action-movie. Considering the countless references to cult classic crime films and TV, (Drive, Heat, Miami Vice, etc) and if you just take a moment to listen to the OST, it's why they introduced special abilites, its why you're repelling from burning buildings in the story, and you can make a kill count 40+ playing as Trevor. That's why cars are no longer as realistic, and combat is no longer as realistic as it was in GTA IV. I would argue it's because the PS3 and 360 just couldn't handle it, but I don't see Rockstar taking the same approach as they did with GTA IV on current gen releases.

Honestly, I thought the shooting and driving mechanics were slow and unresponsive in GTA IV. Even though I consider them beautiful. Shooting and driving in GTA IV had a bit of a learning curve that I'd imagine Rockstar wanted to do away with so they can introduce their game to a bigger audience. Shooting and driving were definitely fun, but not everyone would agree. In 'V' a monkey can participate in TDMs and racing and have a good time. Its just how it is.

yea i get your point but this pick up and play era is really ruining games. whats the point in playing a game when your not learning nothing. wasnt auto aim enough for the noobs?

I feel you man, its even making me feel like I should stop buying future titles.

Games are just starting to feel dull, and more and more are beginning to show the colors of industry and marketing, instead of the colors of good effort and creativity, (I'm looking at you, EA).

You sound like an old head, same as me. Games are different, especially on console. Its all about mass appeal, marketing, pick up and play, in game purchases etc. They need to appeal to as many people as possible, instant gratification and reward, they are dumbed down. The arguements from the auto aimers believing its somehow challenging will show you that, the people that need to almost be hand held to work out the simplest thingis another example. Sorry to say it fella, but if you're as old as you sound, you've (like me) grown out of video games.

I still have the odd blast on gta, but the ps3 lives in my lad's room now. I'll probably buy a ps4 for them at Christmas and will have a go on it, but it's a kids toy now, gone are the days when I'd have a play on it with a friend after dinner while the wives chatted in another room, for example. I'd be embarrassed to even suggest it now.

It can still be fun, this game can be a good laugh, but look elsewhere for a challenge or a need to actually plan, or (god forbid) think.

Personal opinion only, so if I touched a nerve with someone who believes this is the worlds best game, there's no need to become defensive.

Heh, I'm actually very young, but at the risk of sounding egotistical, I like to think I have a good eye in what's a good game, and what isn't. But I got a lot of friends, and I have an older brother that bitches and is as critical about the games he plays as much as I am. I'd say his standards rubbed off on me.

I still have a lot of faith though, and I still believe that great games can still be made. There was a game that was released a bit ago, (about a year and a half or so ago), that game went by the title 'Bioshock: Infinite' - And that was a game that absolutely hit home for me. 'Games like that give me faith that there's still plenty of potential out there.

GTA V, (to me, imo), is a masterpiece despite it's issues. Many would agree that it's a few notes short of being a masterpiece, and is the first step Rockstar is taking down the dark corporate road, and as much as I'd like to agree (only because I'm a concerned, worried fan), and as much as I'd hate for something like that to become of one of my favorite developers, I can't. We just simply have to wait and see.
