This thread is not about what they will transfer, as no one knows definitively. This thread is about how you think the process should work.

I've seen on the forums people for and against a completely new slate for everyone upgrading to the newer version of GTA Online.

Those with lots to lose (money, cars, clothes, limited edition items, etc) want to carry over their stuff with them.

Those with nothing to lose say "reset everyone" as it would be "fairer" to new people (cause f*ck those guys that have been playing for a year) joining the game. This of course ignores the fact that people who have just started the game last week are also at a disadvantage. Should there be a reset every time someone new joins a game? (To borrow a phrase from another poster, this ain't Pacman.)

But I do realize with all the hacked/glitched money/vehicles, that ASPECT would not be fair to newer players (and for that matter existing players). So in discussing this hot button issue I thought of how Rockstar could make the process "more fair" for all. It won't be completely fair, but fair enough.

A verification process for all accounts that want to be transferred.

Would you agree, and I'm talking to folks that want their stuff carried over, to a 3-5 day hold on your account in which it is checked for hacked money/cash/etc? At the end of which you would be passed through or denied (If you are denied you would then have to escalate to support or create a new character) transfer of your character?

No, it's a good idea but no. i think they should say have a quick check process that takes about a couple of minutes to determine whether your account is dodgy, if after that process the account is dodgy then they go through a process similar to your's OP.

But like menopause said whether they transfer their accounts or start anew the cheats/glitchers will still be about.

Oh yeah, I can't wait for an official Rockstar newswire post that says: "Due to unknown factors the account verification may take a while longer. Details will be released soon."

I'm not jumping ship right away regardless. I'd like to believe everything will transfer over, but that answer will be clarified following the release date of Nov 18th. As for Rockstar making everyone start over due to a new player base is ludicrous. Not directed at you OP, but I see new players every time I'm in a lobby, so for Rockstar to use that as an excuse would further diminish PS4 sales. I started a new account mainly for the PS4, and all of the games that I will play on it. But also starting fresh with GTA is nice.

I can actually see how much I'm earning without my numbers being out of whack like it was from the billionaire days. As you mentioned in the other thread about not being the sacrificial lamb come transfer time, I'm with you on that. There will be plenty of other people that will do that for us, but from a personal standpoint I think it will all work out. But then again I lost a level 90 character when I first started the game last October. I like to be positive and not a pessimist, but with Rockstar anything can happen.

EDIT: In reference to your poll, I think they will put something in place to see if there is hacked or glitched money. So if you have 30-100 million in car sales with 20-30 days of game time, I'd say to whoever has that as good luck in keeping your money. But then again they might not have a such a system in place, so those who have all of that glitched cash might luck out. As far as the amount of time the verification should take, probably no more than 48 hours, but I'm waiting 2-3 weeks before I decide to change over regardless, because my current new character which is level 150, will be in mid to high 300s by the time PS4 version is released.

I have to agree with you that being made to start over cause of fairness is a ridiculous premise...like you, I've seen level 10s and lower on the game TODAY...should I be made to start over every time some new person comes along? Hell, no. That's not fair, that's arbitrary...

I think people want this to be GTA 4 multiplayer where you didn't keep anything but your level and the unlocks that came with that. You didn't "own" stuff like you do with this game.

Yes i agree there should be a verification process to keep the hacked money out, i have no issue waiting for processing.

This is a fantastic idea i hope Rockstar stumbles upon this post and takes it into consideration.

I would hope that everything is transferred, i have put a ridiculous amount of time into the game for everything to not transfer.

If it doesn't go to my liking i will not buy the game for ps4, only time will tell.

Good job creating this topic and polls, creative and thought provoking.

Great thought Miss Malevolent. I have no idea if they can conclusively prove guilt or not, but if so, I'd wholeheartedly agree with people being able to elect this procedure. :)

I think they should, because as far as I know PS4/XB1 are not moddable yet so it would be the best to keep the ones with modded stuff out of these platforms or wash them :D

PC? That would be a different story. A lot would probably mod on PC after converting.

I don't think it's necessary. I haven't had my day ruined by some guy who had 200M dollars because he had 200M dollars - it was because he was an asshole and that will always transfer.

The biggest problem you have here though, is you're making your repeat customers step through validation hoops and have to wait while their account is validated. The "punishment" is essentially targetted at those who buy the game twice which isn't really ideal from a business standpoint.

I disagree with that idea. I think that we should be easily able to transfer our cars, property, and weapons. It should be our reward for playing and enduring what is essentially a beta version of their game.

I don't care if having our last-gen assets from the get-go puts us at an unfair advantage. I am not going to lose my cars. >_>

As if they are going to manually check every account. It would cost them far more in labour than they make from the sale of each copy of the game. Never ever going to happen.

What will happen is your PS4 will load your save off the server exactly like the PS3 did, same server, same file. Easy.

Who says manually check the account? My thought is that it would go through a more stringent automated system. Not individuals sifting through millions of records

That`s why I`ll do a 100% story mode first before even touching Onlne. Let all the impatient people test the transfer stability first :D

I bought a ps4 2 weeks ago and I just literally stopped playing gta v. I played gta everyday since it was released until 2 weeks ago I told myself I won't play gta till it's out for ps4 but if my gtao stat gets reseted for transferring i rather play it on my ps3

It is more fair, but no.

I want to play when I bought it. Not have to wait 24 or more hours, while I haven't done anything wrong.

Just verify the people who are in cheaters pool or bad sport.

Surely that's a good enough reason to reset and start again if it's a beta version?

Just seems completely unnecessary. Rockstar created this hot mess. Why should I be inconvenienced due to their ineptitude.

Besides. $60 is all the verification I should need.

Very well thought out idea tho Miss.M.

Just verify the people who are in cheaters pool or bad sport.

I mean that goes without saying that cheater's and bad sport pools will be checked if not outright penalized (in the case of the cheater's pool) from the jump.

But there have always been those that have slipped through the cracks. This process could handle that aspect to quell the ire of folks who think that's "unfair".

There are some who are simply fueled with petty jealousy (cause they couldn't/wouldn't invest the time in online and want everyone reset down to their level, we call them socialists in the real world) or others that think the game should be like GTA 4 multiplayer (no one "owns" anything).

I'm not addressing those folks.

I'm talking about the folks who are okay with people transferring their legitimate items/money but have critiques about those who are slipping through the cracks and the "fairness" of that.

And I was wondering if this would be a feasible solution for that justified criticism?

Hmm, well you might me right. But 24 hours is very long.

They should just check everyone with 10 million or more money and everyone with level 400 and higher or something. They however should not have to wait, but they get a message that they are being reviewed.

Its not entirely the same. We dont know yet what it will be like. It might be the same but it might rin smoother. Ludicrous saying its the same game if it was it would have released last sept when last gen released.

Having a year in between im sure its more than a simple port. Well see.

I wouldn't care if R* would notice my 40 million I got from using the Hooker glitch.

The game will be buggy as sh*t again, there will be enough Money glitches to use.
