That aside and more on topic, I'm one of those who can't afford the new gen right away. (well, I can, but won't because I'm saving for a new car.) I'm waiting for the after Christmas sale, ps4 including a second controller and game or so. By that time everything will be clear and I will know if I transfer or not.

People seem to forget that money doesn't grow on tree except for kids who parents but them whatever they want but getting a PS4 + PS Plus + GTA V = $509 and not many parents are going to buy Jr the PS4 right now since PS4 is more of a Christmas present than anything else.

If i hadn't of won my PS4 i don't think i would've bought one til the prices were lowered on em and a lot of people won't be buying a new console until the prices come down so there will actually be MORE PS3/360 GTA players then there will be new console players at least for the first year of the new gen GTA

I thought all of you complained about squeakers, gta is a 18+ game, now all of a sudden the amount of players matter but 70% of them are kids & tweens - Hypocritism at its finest.

Your telling me that the current player base of new gen will surpass the current player base of last gen in the next 2 years? Maybe, but if it does it will only just.

 

His financial situation isn't only unique to him unless you've been living under a rock for the past few years. People can't afford to shell out 400+ quid on a piece of kit that isn't essential as they already have a device capable of replicating the experience of "next gen" in most ways. The PS3/360 will get supported into 2016 generally speaking at least as that's where the most players will be, or enough players will be there to warrant new games being made made for them. Most of the big AAA games will still be on last gen for this reason until at least 2016. Even EA pledged that they will support PS3/360 till at least 2017. By then I'd expect the price to drop significantly with a new cheaper model of both current gen platforms. Why? Well it happened before in last gen.

 

Just because you can afford them doesn't mean everyone else can. Oh and I'd say you're being the hypocrite if you are going to say others are basing their "financial situation" on their argument where you're essentially doing the same.

Kids make up a lot of the player base for the console gaming community correct. Whats you're point? No ones depending on who or what. That isn't the point we are trying to make that you keep bring up. The majority of kids won't migrate to 8th gen as their parents won't bother. They'll wait it out for the price to drop. Cause you know, getting expensive things when you have kids isn't easy when the money doesn't grow off trees.

 

Now moving specifically on to GTA. With all this in mind that the player base for last gen will still be large enough to warrant content to still be put on it, why wouldn't R* continue to support that? As long they they make money off last gen they will continue to add to the already numerous updates into 2015 at least. When their revenue starts to drop to the point that it isn't worth it for last gen then only maybe then they will stop. I'd imagine the year of 2016/end of 2015 is when last gen support stops and most probably 8th gen as well simply because the game will be dated. Next year we'll get the Story DLC's and possibly a map expansion/extra map. All this will be for all platforms to maximumly monetise their full audience, once that happens what can R* do for the game? They'll just move onto new projects and keep the servers up like IV. I don't see them doing anything else after the main content R* have planned find their way on to the game.

 

Anyway I probably went of on a tangent there, don't know, but the fact is

 

TL;DR: The player base will still be large enough by 2016 on last gen to warrant new content to be put on it by R*, if they won't it will be due to console age. And similarly I'd imagine content for PS4/One will stop by 2016, again due to age. By then R* would have been working on GTA 5/Online for up to around 6 years. At this time I'd think R* will move on, be it last gen is supported as well as next gen or not.

Not gonna quote your post but i did read it. Its not that deep really.

 

Once a new console comes out the old usually fades out 2 years after. Its coming up to a year in november for ps4. That has been the norm in console history.

 

Im do not think that because i can afford it everyone else should, i live in the real world.

 

So my question is will you get a ps4 by November 2015? If yes then my point is proven. You will pick it up EVENTUALLY, so what do you care for ps3 updates in 2016? Thats the question that everyone will be asking themselves next year

It is fraud and no terms and conditions could save them. Its a product you pay for and its a Playstation store product not Rockstars. If they didnt honor the cash card purchase and my money disapeard in the 18th as in this scenario then they would have to at least refund the 100 $ purchase.

 

They could not defraud me or any customer out of legitamately purchased assets. Not honor the cash card and refund the $ yes. Not honor the cash card and not refund the $ is illegal.

Meh, I have to save up for my trip to Hawaii so I'll be getting that PS4 at the very last possible minute. Probably won't get it until I go to pick up the game.

This thing is buggering my mind too! I still got many friends on the last gen who prolly wont be able to get a current gen any time soon....

 

I will prolly start over again, just to be able to play with them (hopefully I will still have my transfer ticket when the finally get one?)

But there are still some free spots left on the character screen.... why not transfer your char to those spots?
Then again, starting over again doesn't sound so bad... as long as you have some friends around to play with (I got at least 2 I know for sure who will get V again)

It's because it's made by Sony, who also do video/music sales. It's probably unlikely they'll correct that.

 

What I found more annoying was trying to get my PS3 to output the correct audio stream for DTS or DD5.1 over HDMI - gave up after 20 minutes, worked first time on the X360 (which also plays music/video files off an external HDD or USB just fine too).

Thing is right I've got my ps3 jailbroken, had it for a little over a month now.

You'd be amazed what you can do.

So many things that I didn't believe possible on a ps3.

I can play games from ps1/ps2/nintendo64/megadrive/nes you name it.

Watch mkv high def movies on an ntfs formatted external hard drive etc etc...

 

I can't even start to imagine the possibilities if it were the case for the ps4.

Such potential on such a beast of a console but sadly held back by Sony to make more money any way they can.

It'll take another guy the likes of Geohot to crack it again and free it of its chains.

 

Btw not an expert but to what I've understood DTS and DD are compressed audio formats.

Nothing better than linear pcm as there is no compression/decompression if you see what I mean? No loss...

I'll be carrying mine over. Starting fresh would bring back memories and give me a nostalgia overload, but next gen and PC will be getting exclusive content, including content for people that played on last gen.

 

Also, it would make sense to continue my progress to PC. GTA Online will be constantly expanding and growing, with updates and content, including (possibly) map additions that would make GTA Online feel like a true "open world". It just makes sense to transfer my character.

 

That is my opinion, and only my opinion.

I won't hesitate to transfer my progress. Seeing as GTA Online is the only Ps3 game I play anymore (With the occasional game of Madden with my brother), I really have no reason not to.

I'd start again if I had to. I don't really understand why that would be the deciding factor, do you enjoy the game or not? Same game no matter what rank you are, and if your one of these people who gets bored once they've 'maxed out' you might need a new game altogether, as opposed to re grinding the same game just because it looks prettier and there's a bit more crap to fool around with. Just calling it how I see it.

I do think it's a bit skewed though, in that serious GTAO players (not the people who quit out after ten minutes) are probably the types of people who would run out and grab a new console.

So I'll be keen to see how many copies of the new version they do sell when it's released. I wouldn't expect it to be anything ridiculous like 90% of GTAO players though.

yes thats true, and 90% of people who bought it for ps3 dont play online anyway. single player worked relatively fine, its just online that suffered and was only 1/2 or less what it shouldve been due to hardware limitations, basically anyone still playing it now is gonna get ps4 and buy it again, and those whiney little pussies that say they wont will indeed do it as well especially when they see how much better it is and how much more content the ps4 gets, cause its really gonna be double or more the game youre playing now, lol!
