But in destiny u can switch from ps3 to ps4 back and forth easily but if you can't to it in gta that seems a huge step back.

 

In Postal2 I could use cats as silencers on my guns, and pee on pedestrians.

Doesn't mean GTA is a step backwards because I can't do those things.

 

Being able to freely jump between platforms isn't really a standard with cross generation titles unless they were developed for both at the same time. It's nice that it's in Destiny, and I'd love it in GTA:V, but it's not a step backward if it's not allowed.

I doubt most people will stay for a couple of years on old gen. Dont forget GTA is not the only game people are upgrading for.

Coming up to xmas is going to be a huge sale an increase for new consoles. You can get a ps4 with a game now for £329.

What excatly are you holding out for? A shooting star and a ps4 to drop to £200?

Also 30 player implementation content is going to be striped down to work for 16 players? The neglect is already happening and the game isnt even out yet.

You can doubt it all you want. Many people aren't moved simply by something being new. We are what ya call an informed consumer. Upgraded graphics don't mean a thing if the game is still buggy. Also I suspect there are many people who have substantial game libraries who won't make the jump till more games are available. Also the dlc won't be a problem. I'm sure they already thought of this.

I think i am going to start over brand new on PS4 since most of my friends will still be playing on PS3/360 i have no plans to stop playing on my PS3 even though i have a PS4 and will be buying GTA V for it.

 

Besides i think it would be fun to start over again.

If you're signing into your PS4 with the same account that you used in your PS3, you probably won't be able to make a "new account" for Online, it will most-likely make you use your already-created character

 

iv got 2 characters high enough rank for me to care about with 2 houses each so it will be up to which one i chose to put on next gen if that is the case

You'll be transferring all or nothing, it's through your gamer tag, you're not going to have an option to choose one of the two characters, it wouldn't make sense

It wouldn't disappear. Of course, you could start playing a different version of the game and thus have no access to it.

 

R* has only said "progress can be transferred". They've never defined what they consider to be "progress".

Unless it left your previous-gen character in tact.

So you could use all your goodies on the game you purchased, and have a high rank + same character on your new game as an added bonus.

 

Other options could be crediting your purchased GTA$ to the new account, or warning the user before performing the transfer (I doubt they'd do that though - pretty rough).

 

(NB: these are just possibilities, I'm not saying what they will or will not do because nobody knows)

There are too many people getting their panties in a twist around here. Nothing has been confirmed or denied yet by R*. I don't agree that they are keeping us in the dark either but I am not making any assumptions. I already have the game pre-ordered. I will be getting it regardless but Im not sure yet though whether I will transfer my character or not. I will wait for R* to release the info and then make an informed decision. If someone has solid evidence to prove or deny this speculation post it up. Until I see proof its just that. Speculation.

Actually no it doesn't especially when REAL money is involved such as with the Shark Cards so if he bought a $100 Shark Card on the 17th and then tranfered his progress to the new console on the 18th but his money didn't transfer and he can't go back to his old console it becomes fraud because he paid actual money for a product and then he can't use said product.

It's the account itself that transfers because everything is saved in the cloud including both of your characters aren't separate they are combined onto one account

IDK how switching from PS3 to PS4, or the 360 to X1 is going to play out. Frankly I don't care, as long as I get to keep my level, weapons, and garage, money etc. And even if I don't, yeah I'll be pissed, but I'm making the jump anyway. There is no way I'm staying on the PS3 when a superior version is out there. I've had my PS4 since March and it's been collecting dust, save for The Last of Us Remastered.

My PS4 needs GTAV, just like my PS3 needs to be soled or pawned on November 19th.

People seem to forget that money doesn't grow on tree except for kids who parents but them whatever they want but getting a PS4 + PS Plus + GTA V = $509 and not many parents are going to buy Jr the PS4 right now since PS4 is more of a Christmas present than anything else.

 

If i hadn't of won my PS4 i don't think i would've bought one til the prices were lowered on em and a lot of people won't be buying a new console until the prices come down so there will actually be MORE PS3/360 GTA players then there will be new console players at least for the first year of the new gen GTA
