Crazyeighties
Idk wtf is wrong with my body. I have been underweight for the past 10 months and im only 16 .I eat like a pig more than my buddies and I eat fried foods ( fried eggs and fried chicken ) most of the time.Hell, I even eat the entire pizza ( 12 piece of pizza in one box) and still feel hungry like a madman. My BMI is 17.4(132 pounds ) and Im 6'1 tall .People said that being underweight will stunt growth but I find it BS because I grew 5-6 inches last month ago . So can anyone help me gain weight? It sux for me cuz I've been reminded by my dudes like everyday -_- Have you been to a doctor, I have a similar problem and my weight issued are attributed to a very serious health condition, best of luck to you ArmoredxApple

Last year I was just like you, eating a ton and was underweight. I went to the doctor and I found out I have Type 1 Diabetes, now i don't eat nearly as much and have gained weight. I'm not trying to worry you, but you might want to look up symptoms of Type 1 diabetes, and see if you have any.
EyeMacHunt
One of the best ways to gain weight and do it safety is to making sure that you eat at least 500 calories per day and you'll start gaining about 0.5 kgs per week. Um.... that is what you need to eat if you want to be anorexic..... I'm sure it's a typo as the rest of what you said makes sense. BTW average human male needs 2000 calories per day. Weights training will build an appetite. I get the hungriest on leg days where I use my whole body - squats and deadlifts. If you're trying to gain mass and size do exercises like squats, deadlifts, bench, military press etc A lot of gym newbies spend their first years doing basic motions like arm curls etc. Learn proper technique with lighter weights before you injure yourself or learn poor form and don't be afraid to ask. There is a lot of good info on the internet and youtube videos will show you proper technique if you can't find someone to show you first hand. Lastly - there is a lot of focus on body image these days, don't let your appearance trouble you too much.
dudclub55
I guess it's safe to call you an ectomorph. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Somatotype_and_constitutional_psychology Understand your somatotype, and try looking up some tips on how ectomorphs can gain weight. gtamann123
Same with me. I'm dangerously underweight. I can barely find pants that are small enough for my waist line yet long enough for my legs so I usually end up getting another size and just wrapping a belt around. And my arms and legs themselves are stick thin and I have a massive "Thigh Gap" in between my legs. Coin
That is the dumbest advice I have heard, no offense Would you care to explain what exactly about his post was dumb? Especially given the post he quoted, which is perhaps more deserving of such a flippant remark. An active 16 year old boy should be aiming for a lot higher calorie intake per day than 500. EyeMacHunt's quoted figure of 2000 is a lot closer to the mark. EyeMacHunt

I feel your pain, I have to wear men's size 26 jeans and I still need a belt, To the person that originally posted the topic you desperately need to see a doctor. At one time I was put on IV nutrition to keep my weight stable, but had to quit because of the horrible side effects that almost killed me

Murray Bunyan
You're skinnier than me. And I thought I was the one emaciated. But, yeah. I don't want to stay like this, unfortunately, none of the the suggestions have worked. Edited September 27, 2014 by Murray Bunyan
FranklinDeRoosevelt
You're an ectomorph. That is what I am to. The problem with ectomorphs are that they just naturally can't eat a lot, or if they do, the reason they're still skinny is because they have extremely fast metabolism, which I also have. Which is why I went to the gym for roughly 10-11 months and gained 2.5 stones which is pathetic considering I had to improve my eating a lot first. I was on 8 stones and when I stopped going gym, I ended up at 10 and half stones and because I'm 6 ft, I actually still am skinny, just not as skinny compared to before. I lifted weights and stuff but as a newbie. I'm gonna start going gym again soon and increase my calorie intakes again and go heavy. That's really what you need to do. Ectomorphs are supposed to focus way more on the whole body, mainly the squats, deadlifts and leg overall. And note it even takes double the time for ectomorphs to get bigger than the people who gain weight fast and don't need to put much effort into it.
