Mr. House
17.4 bmi is barely underweight. You probably have a very high metabolism, combined with your height and age. Unless you have any other physical issues like severe lethargy, it's probably just that. Finn 7 five 11, *MURDOC* and Crates Of Gold

Ai®a©ob®a
With you being 16 you probably have a high metabolism which really prevents you from ganging weight when i was 16 i could eat anything i wanted and not gain a pound but as the years went on it seemed like i gained fast weight just by eating a candy bar. One of the best ways to gain weight and do it safety is to making sure that you eat at least 500 calories per day and you'll start gaining about 0.5 kgs per week. it is important to build a good appetite so you can have the right food in larger proportion. Stay active is one way of building a good appetite – one hour of physical activity or exercise can help you build a ravaging appetite. You can also try a glass of to increase hunger. Two mistakes lean and lanky individuals make are – eat very often and eat a lot of junk food. On the contrary, eat three large meals and cut out the smaller snacks, it build an appetite. But make sure the meal contains nutritional calories, starchy foods and proteins. The next mistake skinny people make is consuming junk food carelessly. But did you know, you can put on weight at the wrong places internally even though externally you appear skinny. If you smoke, Stop smoking believe it or not Smoking actually prevents weight gain and most people have no idea. In order to gain weight you need a healthy and balanced diet. By this we don’t mean you need to munch only on salads and energy bars. Your meals should include a wide variety of ingredients and foods of different colours. Let’s find which of these foods that can help you gain weight fast, add a fair share of proteins in your diet. protein is an ingredient that is vital for a post workout snack, why, because it helps build muscle which is important for recovery after a workout. Likewise, protein intake helps you build muscles. It;s a good idea to not eat a lot of fiber when you are trying to gain weight Opt for whole grain cereals, sprouts, green leafy vegetables, which provide adequate amounts of fiber as well as nutrients. fats are a good source of energy, hence can be consumed liberally but excess of saturated fats as ghee, vanaspati etc Here is a list of foods that are high in protein and can help you gain weight it's a good idea to make a meal using these too such as some Chicken and Potatoes with yogurt with dried fruit for desert FishPeanut butterEggsA spoon of cheese or butterDried fruitsWhole grainsYogurtHealthy oilsBrown riceChickenPotatoesSoya beans Hope this helps and remember moderation is key Edited September 24, 2014 by AiraCobra Friendo, Finn 7 five 11, AceThaCreator and 2 others

r0eladn
Well its better(overall speaking(but it both can be a bother)) to be too skinny than too fat. So congratulations. I know about people who use certain medicine, which has a side effect: you gain weight. So maybe some (healthy, non steroid) kind of medicine or drug exists that -ONLY- makes you gain weight. You could always orientate and ask your doctor. Edited September 24, 2014 by r0eladn

ChrilLe
Get some protein powder, that flavored stuff and make sure that there is a whole bunch of branched chained amino acids (BCAA). Drink one of them doses 30 minutes before workout, and be sure to drink it in one bit if possible. Remember that these doses ain't replacement for actual meals, so be sure to consume calories too to keep working. If you don't know how to workout properly, ask your buffed friends, read the many guides on the internet or contact some kind of fitness instructor. AceThaCreator
Hey OP take this advice im about to give you from someone who was and somewhat still in the same boat as you. Im a true ectomorph as well and have been my whole life and if your still young, your body still has yet to mature. I was underweight in my teens and it wasn't until high school and first year of college that i got serious about lifting weights. In my senior year i was 140lbs and 6 years later im up to 180lbs and 6'1 as well but my weight fluctuates like crazy due to a high metabolism. What you wanna do is definitely hit the gym and do mostly compound exercises(pm me if you want some examples)and most importantly EAT. You will find yourself getting hungrier when you start working out and thats normal because your burning ALOT of energy in the gym and your body needs fueled. And secondly don't trust alot of supplement companies because most are scam artists the only ones that are worth getting are whey, multivitamin, and fish oil but thats it. There is nothing wrong with you you're still growing dude and will only get bigger with time. The rest is overpriced overhyped stuff that isn't necessary to take in order to gain weight. If you got ANY questions feel free to PM me i know alot about fitness. Edited September 24, 2014 by BlackAce23
Johan
Get some protein powder, that flavored stuff and make sure that there is a whole bunch of branched chained amino acids (BCAA). This, I'm dealing with the same "issue" as you OP and I recently bought one and already I'm seeing changes, combine that with a workout daily and you'll be set soon enough, nothing to worry about. Graven
Idk wtf is wrong with my body. and im only 16 Nothing´s probably wrong. I was skeleton till 20s. And I did not care a bit what I eat. And for christ´s sake, fat to get muscle? Only fats You need are the essential fatty acids. You get muscle by eating healthy, little more protein than average and training. 1,5 grams to 2 grams protein for each kilogram of bodyweight is enough. Any more is useless and turns to s*it or body fat. Don´t stress on it dude, You are still young. Weight training is not even recommended before You are fully grown, You may wreck your body and that would be real sad thing. OH NO
So you've got the chance to get to all those choice leaves at the top of the tree and you're still too skinny smh. Honestly mate you just sound like a bit of a lanky beanpole, as they say. You will probably always struggle to keep the weight on, its just your body type. An italian man once told me to put on weight you should eat cake. The Leviathan

Marty McFly
I'm both taller than you and weigh less (6'3 and 120 pounds), my metabolism is the same stupid thing. Trying to gain weight is futile, I tried it with many different approaches and more than 5 kg isn't possible. You can either accept your body as it is OR try to gain muscle mass. Due to my laziness I won't do sports but it's the only possibility I see, everything from food additives to simply eating more, eating more of this, eating more of that, looking at the ingredients and trying to get the stuff I need, didn't work for me. If you want to control how many calories you get, a fitness app is helpful. These are dedicated to losing weight but these with a food calculator thing like S Health can be used for the opposite. Eating junk food in order to gain weight does not make you more healthier either. Edited September 24, 2014 by Cyper
