MG vs. Combat MG - any actual difference?

Just 10 minutes ago, I accidently bought the regular MG since I had to get all my guns loaded.

Since the weapon came with attachments, I assume I've issued it before back in the old school days.
(Enough of nostalgia moments)

So basically, the weapon stats show that the combat MG has improved fire rate, accuracy and a tiny amount of more damage (or power if you will) compared to the regular one.

I've tried both of the now, and I can't feel any difference for real.

So is the stats just as unaccurate as the ones in Call of Duty, or could YOU perhaps leave me an opinion on both guns and add some in-depth if possible.

It's just like I prefer the regular MG more cause of the look, but don't want a f*cking gun that can't even win a fight.

Miss Malevolent

The MG looks, feels and sounds more bad ass, but yeah those stats are correct in my opinion. Combat MG does more damage.

Special Agent 25

The other good thing about the Combat MG you get more rounds with it, with Extended Clip you got about 200 rounds there.

That's weird. I did exactly the same thing last night!

I was thinking of just dropping it in the street because I'd long since moved on to the combat MG; but instead I'll do a little comparison of the two tonight.

Combat MG does more damage (~80 dps more), but effective (when the bullets "poof" out of existance) and lock-on range (GTA/Assisted Aiming) are the same between them. As for accuracy... Varies, though if you only use short (~3 round) bursts, they're pretty much the same.

Sometimes I go back and forth between them during police rampages, and I definitely notice the damage difference. Just try shooting down a pursuing police helicopter with the Combat MG, and then use the regular MG for the next pursuing helicopter. It takes noticably longer with the regular MG. The accuracy difference is also something pretty noticable. The rate of fire on both MGs doesn't seem very different, though.

I think the firing rate is suppose to be better than the normal one em not sure tho, for me it feels like its better but it could just be the placebe effect.

Combat MG does more damage & has a much larger round capacity. I hardly use either of them though. I prefer the special carbine or the sweeper.

combat mg is clearly better.

i used to use it a lot earlier on, the recoil drives me nuts though when compared to using a AR these days its a huge difference.

Well that's balancing for ya; you can't expect it to have high damage, a huge clip, good fire rate AND amazing accuracy/no recoil..

Combat MG FTW! Short bursts are most effective, with any full-auto really, but the MG especially. I had a tard try to go heads-up with me using the same weapon, and could not figure out why his heavy trigger fingered spray and pray method wasn't working, started making "hacker" claims and crying like a girl. Finally got him to calm down and showed him how to use it properly, then sent him on his merry killing-spree way.

I aint noticed any difference but always seem to grab the combat MG when in a firefight lol

On the same topic. OP was saying he accidentally bought the mg again. Question is why do you guys drop your guns? Some of the lesser guns let you buy ammo for cheaper. (It cant be that annoying cycling thru a few guns)

I.E MG ammo is cheaper than combat MG ammo.

I hang on to the earlier guns cause they let me refill more cheaply for the better guns.

I don't even buy ammo anymore. I collect it from survivals. Doesn't matter if I am stuck with 2k rounds on most weapons, it's free.

Cheapo level 120, that's me.

OT: MG with no upgrades looks and sounds better than Combat MG, however, Combat MG is better at killing stuff in every single way.

Combat MG :

I have to agree to the sound and feel. The sound seems like it just pounds those bullets. Plus it shakes around more so it feels more like a machine gun.

Not really the difference is only a couple cents per bullet.

Well I love to use MGs and the Combat MG is very superior in terms of damage, fire rate and accurate. The extended 200 round box is also worth it and makes up for the previously mentioned reload speed.

They use the same bullets that cost the same, however it allows you to buy it in smaller quantities. Only affects the people who carry max ammo though

Not really a huge difference IMO.

I always prefer the MG. Seriously, that thing has better fire rate and is more accurate to me...

Same thing happened to me Chrille I bought the MG by accident but I cant complain because now its one of my favourite guns......200 rounds is a great advantage for the CMG but I have a bad reload habit so id never shoot 200 bullets in a row anyway...the MG will get the job done just as good but with more style!

I haven't bought any ammo at all since 1.16 came out. Every gun is maxed on 1900 or so rounds currently. I just pick it up, no one else bothers Lol.

Realistically, the MG would do more damage than the Combat MG, but sacrificing the Rate of Fire. It would fire 7.62 (Warsaw Pact Variant), while the Combat MG fire 5.56x45mm.

oh I know but how many times have you refilled your ammo this year? Actually how many bullets you fired this year? All add's up my friend.

EDITED: Actually scrap that. Just seen what hornedturtle said and went to double check. It isnt cheaper ammo it's smaller clip sizes lol. My bad, D'oh!! :)

Same for the Assault Rifle and Carbine Rifle but Rockstar just CBA with that kinda stuff I guess, just balancing.
