Let's take a moment to remind ourselves of the true definition of the word 'betray':

betray

/bɪˈtreɪ/

verb
1. expose (one's country, a group, or a person) to danger by treacherously giving information to an enemy.
2. unintentionally reveal; be evidence of.

No, they didn't betray us. They may have made some misleading claims on content, which ended up being cut, but aside from that, I think they've done what they always do - released a solid 8.5/10 game and are continuing to build on it. Not many games have had as much content added in the first year after release, and certainly not for free. They seem to be quite benevolent in that respect, giving more away for free than any other company I can think of.

Seeing as we can't actually use the word 'betray' in this context, let's thing about it in terms of 'f*cking us over'.

Did they f*ck anyone over by releasing it on PS3 and 360, with less content than their first release (of the same game) on a superior generation's machines? No, they didn't. They game us a chance to play it on older machines and are fully entitled to add to that for the next release - that actually sounds like them doing something for the fans, to me, as they're saying - hey, buy it again, we'll give you some stuff you didn't/couldn't have before. If they hadn't released it on those consoles, or weren't releasing it on the new consoles or PC, that would be f*cking us over.

R* have done nothing wrong, apart from amassing a horrible audience of spoiled little pricks who think they are owed something by R*. You paid for a product, you got that product. Just like anything, it's not perfect. They're giving you a chance to buy a superior version. So what, exactly, is everyone's problem?

Unsure how anyone could feel betrayed by this... new hardware means new possibilities.

Absolutely not, the last gen version was brobably all they could deliver and now they have the chance to deliver more.

gta vcs also had new stuff on the PS2.

That argument is invalid because its the tranformation from a portable system to a home console but in gta V case its from a home console to another home console

An old home console to a new, superior home console. Your point here is completely moot.

You can't make that comparison and dismiss RandomStunt's comparison, because they are essentially the same.

GTA V was only just playable on last-gen consoles

This is actually insane. Is your PS3 actually a PS2?

The framerate averaged around 25FPS, which is only just playable as audio loses sync below 24FPS.Ahh so is that the real reason why the audio syncing and lip syncing is so terrible. I've been wondering this from day one. Thanks.

No the PS3 version and Xbox 360 version already struggled to run the game as it was.

Plus the game was released over a year early on those consoles.

Plus the PS4/Xbox one/ and PC version gets rid of some console limitations and lets R* release the game closer to what they originally intended along with having an extra year of developing time to add some new stuff.

Plus if you enjoy playing GTA or video games in general chances are you would upgrade your computer or buy a new console eventually.

I honestly don't see how some people could complain that R* is re releasing the game after a year, if the game is going to be improved a lot and if R* already supported the game for a bit of time. This would be like being mad at EA Sports for releasing an improved sports game after a year. Even though in this case the improvements to this game will be much more obvious.

I get what you mean but to be fair, using EA as a comparison is a bad idea. EA (especially EA Sports) do rehash the same sh*t with new squads for a full price game year after year with genuine progress only made once every 3 or 4 years -granted the new gen games are an improvement, but that's a given. It seems (so far) that R* appreciate the fact that nobody likes buying something twice and are trying to pack it with as much as possible, rather than the EA line of "yeah there's new kits and we fixed a bug, all hail the new FIFA" approach.

Thankfully GTA isn't an annual release and it's only the xover of gens that's caused this situation.

I'd say they def. misled us, but with they way we we're all foaming at the mouth to play V I don't blame them. If they would've announced they were gonna release it for the ps4/xbx 1 the forums would've rioted over that news. gta V really did all it could in those machines, it shows.

The problem is that they didn't get the game they had built up there heads.

I mean some people were still convinced, months before release, that GTA V was going to include San Fierro & Las Venturas.

no, i don't think so. making the dukes(which is a car that cockstar lames knows that everyone loves) exclusive to people with both last gen and current gen, is a dick move though.

If no one saw this coming years ago when they announced the game for last generation consoles then I don't know what to tell you... especially with the constant remastered versions of games.

You can't blame them on adding new features on the current-gen consoles, it's way more powerful than the machines we used to play the game since release.

Not to mention, they might still continue supporting the older versions of the game for a while longer..it's not like as soon as November 18 comes along they'll shut down the servers.

Just be glad it's more than just updated graphics - as much as I love TLOU Remastered, it was nothing more than a minor graphical overhaul - barely noticeable, most of the time, apart from the smoother frame rate.

They could have done that, and charged full price. AND I WOULD STILL BUY IT, because f*ck you all.

The extra things like the new vehicles, new missions, new weapons etc. have nothing do to with technical limitations. Even people who did't buy the game until now will get betrayed by Rockstar because they will not get the amount of special vehicles like the Dukes,Dodo and more when they did't tranfer their character from the PS3/Xbox 360 version.

Seems like people seem to think that R* could have just released a patch and magically add all these things to do the PS3 version and have it run well.

I lol'ed and applauded at the same time. They are going to add more than just graphical tweaks but either way, people will bitch. Either because Rockstar didn't add MORE than promised, or because you have to buy the same game twice for the full experience. My argument has always been this: it costs me and my wife about $20 just to go see a 90 minute movie. Once it's over, it's over. I pay $60 for a game that gives me around 100+ hours (not even counting online) of enjoyment, and call me crazy, but I feel like I got my money's worth. I have plenty of games I spent as much on that have never been touched more than a couple times. Not even saying they are bad games, but I work too many hours a week to play as much as I would like. I am more than satisfied with GTA V. Everyone else is entitled to their opinion and they don't have to agree with me, but rockstar is hardly to blame for releasing a game right at the tail end of a console generation and wanting to take advantage of next gen opportunities as well. They are a business that needs to make money, and they aren't exactly forcing anyone to buy the game twice, but I certainly will. Hell, I'll probably have three copies, PS3, PS4, and PC for the mods. Because, like you said, f*ck em.

My thoughts exactly.

I still felt a bit disappointed when we didn't get Heists in GTA Online as they promised, but I still enjoy playing GTA V/Online whenever I can.

No.

If people feel this way they have a choice not to buy it again.

LOL So if people DID feel betrayed that R* kept stuff out of the first release, by not buying the next gen version that makes them feel better and that everything is now ok? How does that work? That's like finding out your girlfriend was cheating on you with your best mate and then by never seeing either again it makes it all hunky dory.

Personally I think R* did a great job in fitting in what they did on the old hardware. Things move on, of course there will be more stuff in the new V.

Yes! They lied their greedy dicks off to us. "Oh, we're not making it for next gen. We promise." Lying cock sucking bastards. They only denied it so people who were buying next gen systems wouldn't wait for the next gen version. Rockstar is turning into EA at a rapid pace.

Please show me where they denied a next-gen version.

I only seem to remember a "We have nothing to say about a next-gen version"

Which, as you may or may not comprehend, is not denying.
