Nope. It's not like the LG versions were an early access game, and the NG versions are the final product.

 

You got a complete game, and now they're selling another complete game, but this one on a new console that allows more stuff.

The PS3 and 360 versions are what they were capable of shipping to you at the time, they were finished from a development standpoint. Now they are remastering the game and making what is now capable with new hardware, as well as adding extra stuff while they have the new development time. There's nothing wrong with that at all.

I think it's a ridiculous notion to think Rockstar "betrayed" last generation console gamers by utilizing the power of the PS4, Xbone and PC. It would be more of a betrayal if the next gen version didn't bring anything new to the table. That said, I feel that it wouldn't be a bad idea to lock the thread.

Neither. I think it was pretty damn questionable to come out with GTA V on XBox 360/Ps3 when they knew damn well they were going to do it on next gen too. If they released all versions (i.e 360/ps3 and Xbox one/ps4) at the same time, nobody would be complaining.

 

Betrayed is too strong a word. Deceived? Yeah. People who can afford it would have bought only one of these versions if they released it on next gen as well, but instead Rockstar is doubling is money. A bit deceitful to say the least...

Eh, I dunno. GTA V's release on last gen effectively f*cked up everyone's expectations regarding the PC version. So that situation escalated into a waiting simulator clusterf*ck on its own, and has even worsened with the recent delay.

 

I keep thinking that, if they simply released the bloody thing for PS4, XB1 and PC only, we would have no troubles. Because there would be no PS3/360 focus. Of course, they'd lose money. Tons of it. But this is a "in a perfect world" hypothesis, so it doesn't matter.

 

In the end, I'm glad so many GTA fans on last gen got to experience the game. It would have been a huge dick move on Rockstar's part (in more ways than one) to just move onto greener pastures without so much as a "buy a NG console lol".

 

It's just a shame the PC fanbase had to suffer through all of it. Whether you consider the wait to be 3 years, 1 year and a few months, or a mere 4 months. Doesn't matter. It still leaves a bitter taste. One that I feel is even stronger than the PC port of IV left, and it takes some serious f*cking effort to top that, in my book.

 

I don't think you were betrayed, no. Those pre-release screenshots were pretty f*cking misleading, though. Seriously, I swear some of them even look slightly better than the NG screenshots.

That argument is invalid because its the tranformation from a portable system to a home console but in gta V case its from a home console to another home console

No. Just going off that logic, Last of Us fans must feel like they got raped. All they got were prettier graphics and dlc content in their remaster. They claimed they had to "recode" almost everything because it was designed to max out the ps3.

Not really, I knew the next-gen version was comming, I just couldn't wait to play gta V. I really should have waited though, as GTA V was abit of a disapointment to me.

 

Here's what I don't like: R* not announcing the Next-gen versions earlier, in hopes that some people buys two copies. R* are by no means the only ones who does this. See Tomb Raider Definitive Edition and The Last of us Remastered, but they've gotten extremely greedy with GTA V.

no for f*ck sake. there is only so much they can do with the ps3/360 hardware. damn, i'm impressed with the ps3/360 versions. especially when you remember it's running on 9/10 year old hardware, crazy complicated architecture and 512mb SHARED RAM/VRAM.

 

rockstar could have easily kept the game the exact way it is except give it a higher resolution/textures, solid 30 fps and some AA and be done with ps4/xb1 versions. that's how good the game is! but oh no they are giving us all that plus more content like radio stations/songs, more missions/weapons/vehicles, higher density vehicles/npcs and who knows what else.

 

people seriously need to stop moaning. rockstar are doing a good job. they can't win with you lot. if it sucks they get hated on and if they do a damn good job they still get hated on cause it's not enough for some ungrateful c*nts. damned if they do damned if they don't

 

and if you don't like the idea of having to buy the game again on a new platform then don't because nobody is making you buy it.

Rockstar's a business not a charity, they're intention is to make money. How the hell are they going to make a profit on re-releasing the game 14 months later if the only benefit is better graphics and more pedestrians/vehicles on the road?

NG versions are essentially the beefed up PC version ported for consoles. PS4/XB1 are too easy to port games into because of the x86 architecture. Seriously, that was a no-brainer for R*. Still, 360/PS3 players enjoyed and finished the game a full year ago.
