What Ever Happened to the Cargobob?

At one point we were allowed to buy the cargobob from the warstock website...

 

When and why was it removed?

They removed it after 1.16, I believe. Gonna have to find one that spawns like Dumb Guy said.

There was a glitch that let you buy one from the website, I don't think it was ever legitimately available on the warstock page.

I've been playing since a couple of days in and I never recall a cargobob being available for purchase.

 

EDIT: just found out they can float on water...gonna have to try that one...

Yeah you had to manually type in the URL to buy it, they never made It officially available. It was 185k I believe

It was never available to buy in-game, It was only available to buy through a glitch that was patched some time ago. There was or still is a lag switch method that is exactly the same method, or close to, that was patched before, but I'm not sure whether the lag switch method works still or not.

Yep, it was available through a glitch allowing you to edit a website's URL. Was available for $185,000, which is very well worth it considering it's a fraction of the price of other helicopters (Maverick is over $700k, Frogger is over $1.3m and the Swift is $1.5m), it has a hook you can pick up vehicles and objects with, and seats 10 people.

Edit: Yes, it's still available from Pegasus.

I think it was to make the "collect the container" missions harder. Those missions don't register Pegasus cargobobs as completing the "Acquire a Cargobob" objective though, so the thought must have been for if/when that cargobob goes up in flames, you would need to go all the way back to the base and steal another instead of just calling for one.

You can still get it with a lagswitch apparently but I bet it's not easy. It costs 180k and its still on the pegasus list if you have one. Rockstar have said before on their support site that they are unable to add or remove things from your save (they don't have a save editor).

 

Anyway the reason you can't call one or buy one officially is because it makes some mission really fast. A boat in the bay for example can be done with one single fast fly by to hook the boat and you just drop it off, you don't need to fire a shot. Of course since they took away the mission paymemts and replaced them all with a welfare egg timer it's pointless using the bob in missions. So I guess they can now add it for sale officially. If they keep the current payment system.. But considering 50% of people are OK with it and 50% hate it with as passion I doubt it'll stay just how it is and so also doubt the bob will be for sale.

 

I got my bob on patch 1.14 with a lagswitch, it took me an hour or so of trying but got it in the end.

Slowing? How? If you knew what you were doing, you could just use the Dock Handler (still really slow though), just not do those missions (RR anyone?) or restart them immediately.

cargobo legally was never available for purchase...

 

people bought the thing using s website cheat back in december. that glitch was patched in january, reappeared back during the patch 1.14-.15 and was completelly removed with patch 1.16

 

so if you didnt got the chance to buy one, you gonna have to wait til a new glitch appear or wait til R* make it available.

I did the glitch to buy it back in November, it was only 160k if I remember correctly. Unfortunately you can't do it anymore it's one of the few Pegasus vehicles I actually use.

But this is absolutely the best reason to be an OG in gta online. Cargobob for missions opens a whole new world.

 

I always get serious props from randoms when I do boat in the bay with the 'bob.

Damn I remeber the website glitch now, and of all things I was certain THAT would be reversable for R*.

 

I figured the risk of being punished wasn't worth it because they would certaintly be able to remove those glitched items.

If I started following these forums earlier I would have used the In-game website re-direct to purchase the Cargobob. Hopefully somehow such a glitch appears in the future again although it is doubtful.

 

As mentioned above, now the Payouts are balanced there is no good reason to not let us have a Cargobob, given the Buzzard and Tank can be used to expedite Missions in a similar manner (which is now not that useful anyway). It would add variety to Missions trying to use the Cargobob also which would be a big plus for adding it...not to mention the fact I am encountering less frequently (even at Merryweather Docks) since 1.16; for whatever reason.

I think it will come for sale on "Army DLC" or something like that one day. The price might just be something way much more than 185k, probably a zero to the end.

 

I would like to own one, since it's fun in freemode. The missions with a cargobob have their unique challenge when you need to steal it, but when mastering the "lose the cops"-part, they are quite easy. Mostly just boringly time consuming (which gives you more cash nowadays). Pegasus vehicles make missions easier, but nowadays it's more effective to do missions without them. Therefore i think it's safe for R* to release the cargobob for sale properly. Since some people have it with a glitch/cheat, it's not really nice for other players to keep it unobtainable.

Cargobob is easy mode for a lot if missions, namely ones involving the theft of cars or boats. Sometimes Lester will still locate one for you during those missions anyway... But I can see why Rockstar doesn't want them readily available for missions all of the time.

 

Either way, in free mode you're almost guaranteed to find one at a helipad in your first attempt. If not first, then second or third definitely.
