A Megalodon present in the current-gen version?

No. Deep-sea whales have high-pressure ballasts along their bellies to regulate internal pressure as they dive or else they'd explode.

Sharks do not have this. A fish can't just arbitrarily dive to entirely different pressures on a whim.

 

Yes but as I said before, probably, there is a 10% chance that this is true, but the Megalodon has surely been able to adapt to a very great depth or freezing temperatures to survive.

Regardless, I believe there is something out there. But even with all of the technology we have today it still isn't enough to completely explore the ocean and what could be living in it. I know from personal experience how dark, and what the pressure is like beyond 200 ft scuba diving. Normally I never go past 100 ft, and going back to what I said in regards to technology. While we have subs that can dive that deep, you still would need a lighting system comparable to baseball stadium to really see what's going on down there. That too would have to be invented in such a way to survive the pressure, and I don't even want to imagine what it is like at 10,000 ft let alone the deepest point which is over 7 miles deep. My ears hurt just thinking about it.

That's a fake, but there is a photo from WW2 taken from some German soldiers on a U-Boat in the North Atlantic, that picture showed a surfaced shark, where they estimated the distance from the dorsal to the tail fin alone was over 60 ft. I don't know if you can find it on here, but it was on Megalodon related show, and from the looks of the photo that was shown it didn't look photo shopped one bit.

The photo was in a Discovery channel documentary a while back, which was a hoax, seeing as most of the 'scientists' were actors; not to mention the disclaimer at the end stating that it was a 'mockumentary'. While I don't know the origins of the image, it is more than likely doctored; Megalodon's have been estimated around the 20m mark in size lengthwise, the image is only showing the distance from dorsal fin to it's tail at 64ft (just under 20m), indicating it to be bigger than 20m in overall size.

What was mentioned above isn't a bad idea, take the existing shark, make it enormous and use that. Minimal development time required = more likely. It's not a game changer, but little details are what make GTA what it is.

I'm sorry to see that you get upset for so little, but I said earlier on the first page, I'm very interested in the sharks and I think learn more about the megalodon. I respect your opinion, so please respect mine. You are not Hitler to give you a personality dictator and say that Rockstar will add or not add! Unfortunately the only people who know if that photo is real are the ones who took it, and most likely have passed away by now. As far eyewitness accounts, I've been on boats, and fishing since I was 4 years old I know lots of tall tales as far as fishing goes. But as I mentioned earlier, there has been evidence of dead whales that were bitten in half washed up on beaches. Personally I think there is a super predator, there are plenty of large resources for it to sustain itself. Most of the eyewitness sightings have occurred along the southern tip of Africa, and around Australia. Not many things scare me or bother me much in life, but I will tell you this, if I was in my 22ft boat fishing and some 85ft shark surfaced and swam by me, I would reel my lines in take my boat home, take it out of the water, and probably never go near anything water related again. I would probably never tell a f*cking soul because for one no one would believe me anyway.

For example, lets say there was a SP mission where all 3 protagonists go night fishing in the ocean. They bond, and enjoy each others company, while sipping Pisswasser, and playing cards. The Megalodon comes and bumps the boat several times, even taking a bite out of the boat, causing a gigantic hole.

 

Your mission is to get the boat back to shore before the boat's heath bar drains, or else you'll sink. You'll transition from all 3 protagonists during this mission. Franklin would steer, while Michael and Trevor shoot the Megalodon. Being that it's dark, you can barely see the outline of the behemoth below, so the protagonists think they're shooting a very determined Great White. You manage to get to safety, the protagonists call it a night. The camera pans over to the side of the boat, and there lays a gigantic shark tooth.

 

THATS how i'd imagine the Megalodon being implemented.

Swastikas weren't added to images. It's just something to try and reinforce the authenticity from the boneheads that made the mockumentary.

 

As far as Megalodon still being alive, some people need to learn how evolution works. Something the size of Megalodon would not be able to survive in the ocean without a solid food source. Do you really think it could subsist on the occasional whales or squid? It lived when animals in the sea were much larger in general, and more abundant when the oceans were much warmer. The Great White tops out at around 22ft, it simply can't get any bigger due to the evolutionary process and has taken millions of years to do so. If an animal cannot support itself due to changes in it's diet and climate, it dies out. The bigger an animal is, the more likely it is to become extinct sooner rather than later. And seeing as we have no ideas on species numbers in the first place, we also have no idea on how long that actually took.

 

I see no issue with it being the game as an easter egg. EA already did it with BF4 on a multiplayer map, Hitman Absolution also had some kind of sea monster in the first SP mission.
