Niko Montana
I recently brought a copy of GTA IV for PC on disk. I have WIndows 7, but i didn't get the message that the system wasn't compatible, in fact it installed quite smoothly. I have rockstar social club account for it. However, I get the classic problem of the graphics stuck on the lowest settings, (even though my computer is only two years old and has the correct settings for it to work). First the Platypus in the 1st scene does not show, you can only see Niko and Hossan and the other crew floating in mid air. Then when the cutscene ends, ped models take time to fully load, (they start at grey, then go to normal when you approach them). Then, the taxi stickers on Roman's taxi are in very low quality and when I leave the docks and go up the road, everything up ahead is invisible and there are no cars on they road or they are invisible. Only plants and streetlights etc. show in low quality. When I get to the safehouse, the cutscene lags and half the things in the house don't show up. I also tried the Notepad thing, but it doesn't let me save it to the Folder. PLEASE HELP!
DaBOSS54320
I had this same issue as well. You may also want to try to make a file called "commandline.txt" in the root (where the GTAIV.exe is) of the game and I'll tell you what to put in it in a moment. This file will make it so when you launch the game, it simply throws some command line arguments in with the game which we will use to specify different memory allocations so that the game will hopefully work better as it has more memory to work with. You said the "notepad thing" didn't work, and I'm assuming you mean the "commandline.txt". If so, you can actually just move GTA IV out of where it was installed to somewhere else without issues. I moved mine to C:/Games/GTA IV. Then you should be able to create a text file there. Or running the text editor with admin rights may let you save it to the normal place as well. Now onto what goes in commandline.txt, I'll explain a few essential things here but for a full list open the ReadMe.txt that came with GTA IV and is in the root folder. It has a full list in section 12. -availablevidmem x.x: This will set how much video memory GTA IV can use. The maximum is 4.0. Try everything from 1.0 to 4.0 (Using increments of 0.5, like go 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, etc) to find the highest you can use without there being a warning in the graphics settings tab. I personally use 3.5 and my graphics card has 4038 MB video memory. -norestrictions: Don't limit graphic settings. -percentvidmem: Set the percentage of video memory available to GTA IV. 1-100. Also just note even if you think your PC is decent, GTA IV had a really bad port from console to PC. It relys mostly on the CPU and does not utilize the GPU as much as it should, and it is usually hard for people to get 60 FPS on just regular settings. I personally can get like 40 on a mix of High/Max settings.

DaBOSS54320
No, there is no way. It's impossible! -nomemrestrict -availablevidmem 3.5 -noprecache -renderquality 4 -viewdistance 99 -detailquality 99 Copy the above into the file, exactly how it appears. Blank lines should not effect how it works but I'd just take out any blank lines anyways. My PC it most likely better then yours, seeing it was able to work on High/Max settings without a commandline.txt (I just used one when I started using an ENB) so you'll probably have to reduce the values. DaBOSS54320
When something is missing, what do you do? Find it and put it in? Good idea! You must be some kind of genius! You should be able to download the DLL file here: http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?wmasf Download the zip file, and put the WMASF.DLL into the root of GTA IV. I don't think I even have that file in my GTA... wonder why you need it...
