In reality the Bundeswehr is probably one of the worst armies in Europe. They are a laughing stock really. The German police on the other hand... Instead we could use the money to expand our electriticity grids, electricity storage, renewable energy production, internet grids, streets, bridges, schools, universities, hospitals. Of course my brother wouldn't like to hear that because he works for the air force. Our minister of defence would like to send our soldiers into every conflict possible (now to West-Africa against ebola), but she doesn't realise that the majority of the people doesn't want it. In its current state, the Bundeswehr is useless. If the politicians think the United States will defend us for all eternity they should just get rid of it for good. You're correct: in a few of the clips people did hit/swipe at the police first; but in any case police reaction seemed overly-excessive. I'm not judging either, just commenting on the post about Germany by a Deutschlander in the 'Common things in your country that only locals know,' so it could be assumed that these are not rare exceptions.
