For some reason the first time I watched, I missed the "it's okay, Jesse. Slater can't hurt you no more."

Edit: Deadpool creator (and 90s tiny foot artist) Rob Liefeld's response to the news that Fox is giving the green light for an R rating... https://instagram.com/p/084bZWD33t/

Haha, brilliant.

Reynolds is perfect for Deadpool, no doubt about it.

It's him in the suit there as well and he's defiantly rocking it.

That was actually written before he played Deadpool in Xmen Origins: Wolverine.

I'm happy we're seeing another mainstream R rated comic movie. Sure there have been some obscure ones, but outside of Blade and Spawn no really popular ones have been released.

Punisher. Sin City. Watchmen. 300. They just need to do the right R-rated movies, and they've (and by "they" I mean the collective consciousness of mainstream Hollywood) been good at picking the right movies to go "full R". Although, besides the language, the first Blade movie didn't really need it, but the MPAA has a thing about literal blood baths.

I don't think most people that saw 300 viewed it as a comic movie.

I forgot about the others. Punisher(2004) & Watchmen were both good.

Although, I do see the pattern that so far most R rated comic films have been based on graphic novels/one shots as opposed to traditional series. Maybe that's why they've risked the R rating more with those.

I guess it's safe to assume that because of the events in "X-Men: Days of Future Past" something different has happened in the future which is why he doesn't look nearly as disfigured as he did in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine".

Is this movie supposed to be in the same Universe or it's own separate entity?

Fox has the rights to both and they are still using Ryan Reynolds for Wade Wilson. I'd say they're in the same universe.

Well Wolverine is getting his real costume for Apocalypse, so maybe Fox is trying to step their game up by appealing to the more hardcore comic fans by sticking closer to the source materiel.

With Marvel Studios offering stiffer competition and all.

Just maybe.

I wonder if they always had the Days of Future Past storyline as a backup plan so they could pretty much do what they want leading up to it and then change it all after

Prolly not. It's obvious pre-DoFP(and First Class to some extent) they were trying make more "real" take on the X-men.

My guess is with the huge success of Marvel Studios' projects which were more traditional in nature combined with the awfulness of X3 made them want do a ""soft" reboot.

It's an old Comic Book tradition of retconning.

It's an old Comic Book tradition of retconning.

It's been more of crutch than a tradition. Sure you've had your larger event based retcons, but a lot of the smaller ones have been due to lazy writers.

Hey, man... Large events are not immune from getting retconned, either.

*Cough* Onslaught.

So the eyes are real(not CG). That's cool.

I assume, they're going to animate the eyes, and area around them to give them expression. I like that idea. I assume DP does a lot of eyebrow raising.

Edit: here is a good look at the full costume...

i didnt really like punisher (2004) and didnt realise it was rated R. i thought they were refering to the 1989 one.
