KidInTheHall
Hey guys, I was just curious with all the different versions of GTA III , Vice City and San Andreas for PC, PS2, Xbox, Mobile, which versions of each game do you consider to be the best versions of each? universetwisters
I'd go with the PS2, not only since that was the first system I played all of them on, but also since it was the first system the games came out on before their Xbox & PC releases

KarimNTerr
This one: I've bought it a few months ago, and I simply love it! Edited December 9, 2014 by toxluv Lowi and Lock n' Stock
Lock n' Stock
I own both the PS2 versions and the PC versions on Steam. Though I prefer playing the games on consoles, PC is the way to go. The visuals and framerate are better, and all the games are moddable along with the ability to play your own music in cars.
Nico
PC versions. They tend to have most of the glitches and bugs from the original build fixed and you can customize them (graphics, music, mods). But PS2 versions have unique things, like the song Running in the Night in VC or that awesome yellow atmosphere in SA (though it has worse shadows compared with PC) Did you see the frightened ones? Did you hear the falling bombs? Did you ever wonder... ...why we had to run for shelter when the promise of a brave new world unfurled beneath a clear blue sky? Osho
This didn't require a separate topic - a quick search should have easily sufficed; either here or Google! Going by common sense, quite easily - PC version would have to be the most brilliant of all, followedby consoles, and lastly, whatever other versions are left! This is just based on the games I own, and from my experience.
DoubleDutch
i have the trilogy for xbox1 and i would say that's the definitive version. graphics are better than ps2 and the games are compatible with xbox 360. they have widescreen and trigger controls for driving so theyre almost like xbox 360 games Edited September 18, 2014 by DoubleDutch Kalerney
DeafMetal
PC. You have a lot more options in regards to keeping it relevant and fun, as well as stable.

Johan
If you asked me this question years ago I'd probably go with the PC version.. but nowadays those games are a hassle to get to run on it anymore, took me a lot of troubleshooting to get Vice City up and running, I'll stick with my PS2/PS3 (Classic) version as it gives me nostalgia and no issues getting it to start. Osho
The thing is, with change and upgrades to the OS, old games are obviously going to face some conpatibility issues, with newer versions of Windows/Mac - whichever applicable! That's why, I still have three copies of original Windows XP/SP-3 to run and play old games without any issues, while I use another PC Windows 8 only to play the modern games! So, just have a spare PC of decent processor, with XP installed, then running old games won't be a problem, at all.
DoingTheImpossible
The mobile versions. Why? Because you can play anywhere.
thatstupidbug
I think the ps2 original version of Vice city is the best one...i don't know if it is the "definitive" one, but it has: - gas grenade - "running with the night" by Lionel richie - haitian costume bug (ok, that's a bad thing, but i like work around that stupid bug to get the costume...and it is also the "stupid bug" in my nickname) - haitian and cuban unfriendly version (before the script was changed to being a little more Politically correct with them) - Big country - in a big country (song featured just in "The driver" cut-scene, replaced with "the message" by grandmaster flash in other version) - a little harder "trial by dirt" mission - various weapon name unchanged - bigger and less-covered titties in the cut-scene for "recruitment driver" -drop of water and blood on the camera (removed in other version) those are the main differences I found searching trough FAQs and Wikipedia... BUT the original version has also some more bugs, so it is by no mean perfect (like trying to save at cherry popper? - save lost forever!). ..but I think it is closer to the original idea, with a little bit more of dialogues and effects here and there.
