M.K.N.
Acrophobia. I don't know how can people enjoy standing on rooftops of ridiculously-high skyscraper buildings, especially when looking up makes me feel like I'm losing gravity and being pulled upwards. I don't care how great the scenery is, leave me out of it because I seriously detest venturing myself high and above without my instant fear of heights skyrocketing beyond levels. Saganist
We often lament the inevitable losses we'll experience with the passage of time. It's nearly impossible to consider what life looks like on the other side of certain people you love passing away. I know that I felt that way back when I walked into the ICU and saw my great-grandmother strapped up to life support systems after a car crash nearly killed her. I thought: how is this possible? She was with me since my earliest memories of life, and now this force I didn't understand had placed me across from her as she slipped away into a coma. I couldn't do anything about it, and even though I recognized on some level that she would pass away, I never considered that I would be there for it, or that I'd have to go on in a world where she wasn't around. She died two days after the accident, and I'm still here. It wasn't easy--especially in those first few months. There's a certain part of yourself that you'll give to everyone you truly love, and when those people are gone you'll find you can never get that piece back. Despite that, you won't find life to be as simple as a series of relationships that fade away while you yourself grow dim with grief and exhaustion. Those times when I do feel a certain depletion, I consider the perspective of those people: my great-grandmother chief among them. She lived a full life. From dusty Oklahoma plains she moved out West in her early adulthood. She met her husband when she was nineteen, and lost him when she was thirty. She lost her parents, and she lost people she certainly loved and admired--people I never knew. And yet, she lived. She watched her child grow and marry someone, and she watched her grandchildren be born. She saw light in the eyes of many young faces at family reunions that went on into her sixties. She re-married. In all, she found her own reasons to smile often in a life full, at least from one perspective, of continued loss and grief. Life isn't that one-sided. There will be times when you lose someone you care about--be it through death or invariable separation. The worst of these occur when there's a feeling that things were left unsaid. Oftentimes, things will be left unsaid until it is too late. But life persists. For everyone you lose, you will find more. I've been to too many funerals, but I've also seen many births. I've met people that have made me happier than I previously thought possible, all within months of knowing them. I've also lost parts of myself to the passage of time that have to this day impacted me. The point is that there are those bad times--those times where it falls apart and you lose everything and don't know how to go on. But if you do find the power to go on, you will gain something back. Your life won't feel the same after your parents die, or your wife divorces you, or your dog runs away. But just as that change is inevitable, so is the inevitable change that comes with seeing the birth of your first child, or the fruition of true romantic love, or the simple joy of taking care of some other living creature. Try to remember that when time feels like an unconquerable aspect of life. That was profound.
DarkSavageDeathlyCloud
Only thing i fear is death in general. If i think to long about it i kinda feel like a void is building up in me...or i start to get paranoid as in be afraid when just walking around and afraid to trip and break my neck against some object. Algonquin Assassin
I don't think I've mentioned this, but I have a fear of answering/making phone calls. It's not as bad as it used to be, but I get tongue tied when I get nervous talking to a stranger I can't even see. And public speaking. Good god. Not as much as roaches though.I'm from Australia so spiders don't faze me in the slightest but I f*cking hate roaches. Spiders don't generally run up your leg coming out of nowhere and don't hide in the underside of your beer can. f*cking cockroaches. Also rats. f*ck them too. Also bats too cause they are just pretty much outside 3D rats Edited June 14, 2017 by Jolly Swagman Payne Killer, Travedge and LincolnClay
The Hippie
Giant spiders. I don't mind spiders in general but If I come across a tarantula or some sh*t, I get freaked out. Easily avoidable though. Bears. If I ever go hiking in the woods, I always have this thought I will run in to a bear at some point. And if for some reason that bear thinks you're too close or it's hungry or has cubs, you're finished. Those things are the ultimate killers and not so easily avoidable if it doesn't like you. Beautiful animals but terrifying nonetheless.
Carbonox
Bees, wasps, those kinda insects. I think I'd freak out if one had the audacity to land on me, even if they weren't gonna sting. And big dogs, particularly when they're being walked by an owner that looks too weak to control them if they got mad at me for some reason. ronsmith
I'm afraid of taking exams. Really. I'm afraid I will face failure, get a bad evaluation, don't pass the exam at all or give a bad answer. If it's shorter, I'm afraid of disappointing myself. Of course, I often blame myself for this, because I didn't do enough time for some subjects, didn't go to lectures because I worked. But recently I came across a good resource, which eventually solved some of my problems and helped me better prepare for exams and a sense of self-reflection. There you can buy college essay, discuss topics of work with teachers, read a blog and much more. Also, I realized that you can not turn the period of passing exams into a continuous study - the brain will not approve it. Therefore, training and rest should be alternated. MCMXCII
I have been afraid of large birds ever since I was a kid. Got chased by a goose when I was a kid and it traumatized me for life. I also bitch out around wasps. f*ck those spawns of satan. They offer no benefits to mother nature other than to terrorize us humans! f*ck em hard! I'm also afraid of venomous snakes, which is understandable. However, I was also chased by a cotton mouth while I was fishing at a family members pond out in a rural part of my state. I immediately dropped my fishing poll, with a fish on it, and ran away from it lol
chronic lumbago
Definetly heights even when inside a high building. I ain't scared of spiders. Just beat the sh*t out of the f*cker when it wanders on friendly territory. Eventually lead it outside when close to a window lol Though I wouldn't necessarily hold one in my hands because it's gross. I wouldn't panic or anything but if I for some reason had to hold one, I'd do it. Held a huge bastard before in a zoo with a special glove. It was a cutie. Show me a bee/wasp and I show you how to run like a bitch. f*ck doctors though, whether teeth or anal examination. f*ck them. Margaret-
Crowds, deep water (I can swim fine but underwater freaks me tf out, it's weird), and not that it really counts as a typical phobia I guess but I am extremely afraid of my mother (or anyone else I'm close to) dying before I do. I'm completely selfish in the fact that I want to die first before anyone I love. I have no fears about death and dying pertaining to myself, just it striking those I love.
