Nico
I'm not very original in this thing, neither. I've always been afraid of obscurity. Did you see the frightened ones? Did you hear the falling bombs? Theodore93
Death. Death of a family member. Illness. Surgery Heights Flying Tubes in orifices. Trying new drugs (prescription). Coming across crazy people and generally bad people. Murderers, rapists and such. Rejection. Driving. Government. Censorship. Tight spaces. Walking at night. Home invasions.Vehicles mounting the pavement. And generally random freak occurrences that no one expects like a truck crashing into your livingroom, a plane crashing into the building you're in, a maniac gunman walking in, getting hit by a meteorite etc. I'm not terribly fond of spiders either. "iTRiP" At home: Power failure depriving me of gaming and pc use, internet failure, something broken in my pc, snakes they are really deadly here, the car being broken when it's time to go shopping, the chemicals they spray around the farm for better production, the winter cold and the summer heat might be the death of me, banks interest rate becoming unstable, being banned from a forum or having a newly created topic locked on it's first day live. Alvarez
I have one particular phobia against elevator and elevator shafts. It combines multiple fears - of falling in, as in height fear, the fear of being crushed by the elevator, the fear of sliced in half when passing the entrance, the fear of the floor collapsing under you (I know that Dubai attraction) I don't like looking upward or down the shaft as it makes no difference but strangely enough I am not being afraid of being stuck in the elevator, but only exiting it through the shaft SCREW THESE HORRID DARK ABYSS PLACES WHERE MAN ISNT SUPPOSED TO BE, REALLY. Oh, try to look at a tunnel and imagine it is a really deep shaft. You'll know what I mean. I don't even know if this phobia has a name. Alvarez
Paranoia? No, too generic and you can't really blame an elevator for doing its thing. Elevator-derived panophobia? Should I sit on top of elevator cabin, where only the roof area is lighted, it would be probably the fear from what lurks above in the dark where the taut steel ropes sing their eerie song.I would call it a panophobia then. What is the fear of being sucked into abyss? I often have a nightmare where I have to climb the sometimes desolate shafts using walls and ropes. The Dedito Gae
I always been afraid of darkness. Kinda childlish but i can't help to feel defenseless when i can't react to my surroundings. I also have a minor case of thalassophobia. I remember once i visited the museum as a kid and saw a shark display, it was arranged to look like the ocean and there were fish and the water effect on the walls, wasn't real but the mix of vast blue sea and those lifeless eyes and teeth were enough to make me feel uncomfortable. sreyazsec
I guess most of my fears are height related. A big fear is tall buildings. The worst one was a school trip where we had to go to the top of a castle turret (you know what I mean??? I don't know the correct term) and the stairwell was steep and narrow, I crawled up on my hands and knees and had a minor breakdown when I got to the top, I cried and got a wee bit hysterical. I was allowed to get down and wait for everyone to finish thank God. I think I was like 12 or 13. I had to go back down the same stairs and I scooted down on my bum. I mean even now, I could never work a job that would require me to work anywhere above the third floor of a building. It's horrifying to me. I hate going to hospital because the clinics I normally go to are on the 3rd/4th floors. Hullian111
When I was younger like 4-5 I use to be scared of these, I use to think they would sweep me up Mate, when I were 4-5, those were the sh*t for me! Me and my mum always used to see this street cleaner guy every now and then, and I still have the booklet for the model of the street cleaner. Oh, those were the days. Alright, I'll cough it up - I have a phobia of horses being harmed, even virtually. For example, I can't shoot a horse in BF1 or Red Dead Redemption (I accidentally shot one once in BF1, and I wallowed in self-pity afterwards) or other games, and I always nope out of anything horse-related that goes down the dark route (i.e: harm, (CENSORED), death). Which brings me to this: I have a rather critical fear of (and I'm looking away from my screen now) zombie horses. Once I read a GTA fanfiction, it sets me off for a week. So I wrote about it to clear it up, and it worked. For now. Its a constant thing now.
ciel
The one thing I fear the most in this life is losing my mother, I know she won't be around forever but the thought of something happening to her at anytime scares me. I want to repay her for everything she's done for me and our family before she leaves this earth, she has always wanted to go on a cruise and I want to be the one to give her that. I'll make it my goal. So that makes it two things, having unfinished business with my mother after her death. My mother told me nothing is eternal, but that doesn't mean it should end, because your happiness and her love should live on in you watching your own children. Enjoy the now. Make your mom happy. And even if you'll be sad eventually, you can always think back on happy moments with her. Just don't be alone. sreyazsec
JesusFR33K
I fear seeing ppl not going to Heaven bcuz they didnt make time for GOD by accepting His Son Jesus and the Blood he used to pay for our lives. Im afraid of heights in the natural, but only if im not secure. I can fly in jets n ride rollercoasters. I used to climb trees as a kid, but fell 40 ft out of a pine tree at 11yo. Its only the Grace of God im still here. I barely even got hurt tbh. Just jammed my leg up a lil, but went away shortly after.
Saganist
Time. It is unchangeable and never stops, it just keeps progressing. In a way that's fine but to see all your loved ones and childhood friends grow old and die and for good times to end just sucks and is kind of scary knowing you can't do anything about it. sreyazsec, GrudgefromSanAndreas and Cutter De Blanc
Tyler
We often lament the inevitable losses we'll experience with the passage of time. It's nearly impossible to consider what life looks like on the other side of certain people you love passing away. I know that I felt that way back when I walked into the ICU and saw my great-grandmother strapped up to life support systems after a car crash nearly killed her. I thought: how is this possible? She was with me since my earliest memories of life, and now this force I didn't understand had placed me across from her as she slipped away into a coma. I couldn't do anything about it, and even though I recognized on some level that she would pass away, I never considered that I would be there for it, or that I'd have to go on in a world where she wasn't around. She died two days after the accident, and I'm still here. It wasn't easy--especially in those first few months. There's a certain part of yourself that you'll give to everyone you truly love, and when those people are gone you'll find you can never get that piece back. Despite that, you won't find life to be as simple as a series of relationships that fade away while you yourself grow dim with grief and exhaustion. Those times when I do feel a certain depletion, I consider the perspective of those people: my great-grandmother chief among them. She lived a full life. From dusty Oklahoma plains she moved out West in her early adulthood. She met her husband when she was nineteen, and lost him when she was thirty. She lost her parents, and she lost people she certainly loved and admired--people I never knew. And yet, she lived. She watched her child grow and marry someone, and she watched her grandchildren be born. She saw light in the eyes of many young faces at family reunions that went on into her sixties. She re-married. In all, she found her own reasons to smile often in a life full, at least from one perspective, of continued loss and grief. Life isn't that one-sided. There will be times when you lose someone you care about--be it through death or invariable separation. The worst of these occur when there's a feeling that things were left unsaid. Oftentimes, things will be left unsaid until it is too late. But life persists. For everyone you lose, you will find more. I've been to too many funerals, but I've also seen many births. I've met people that have made me happier than I previously thought possible, all within months of knowing them. I've also lost parts of myself to the passage of time that have to this day impacted me. The point is that there are those bad times--those times where it falls apart and you lose everything and don't know how to go on. But if you do find the power to go on, you will gain something back. Your life won't feel the same after your parents die, or your wife divorces you, or your dog runs away. But just as that change is inevitable, so is the inevitable change that comes with seeing the birth of your first child, or the fruition of true romantic love, or the simple joy of taking care of some other living creature. Try to remember that when time feels like an unconquerable aspect of life. Cutter De Blanc, mr quick, Fonz and 4 others
