Which current gen console for GTA?

Please no fanboy flaming, just pros and cons of the two systems please.

I've always been Sony, but I can't see any reason to choose one over the other now they both require a sub for online, and I can't play my ps3 back catalogue on ps4.

My girlfriend's son has xbox one, so it'd be convenient for him if I switched to xbox

Don't buy an XBOX ONE if you don't like HALO.

I'll get a PS4 very soon, since 8/10 of my friends plays on that system, and I'd like to play with them and my brother.

 

Otherwise if I was just a guy without so much Playstation influence, I'd but the Xbox One because the controller feels way more comfortable IMO and well, my Xbox Live account.

 

Now, don't care too much about the graphics and framerates, just get the system that most of your friends play with, at leaste those you wanna target as friends.

PS4 is pretty much objectively better in general, but go to what your friends are playing on. I'd take playing with friends over system capabilities any day.

I was PS boy but switched to 360 for friends, I hate the menus, they lag but they had the social aspect well planned however the ps4 menu seems better so I would get a ps4 but forza and halo draw me to Xbox where as gran turismo draws me to PS so its down to friends and exclusives for me. Buuut I'm too poor for a next gen, besides they get cheaper eventually.

I don't own either system, but from what I've heard the PS4 is a better gaming console. Apparently it's better specs-wise (non-upscaled 1080p compared to 900p on the XB1, smoother framerate, etc.) and it's a little bit cheaper. So if you're mainly just interested in gaming, then that may be the better choice. The Xbox One seems to be more of a cross between gaming and media.

My personal pick is the PS4, and this is coming from a 360 player.

I like the feel of the ps more as an adult gamer. Xbox seems more child oriented what with the avatars and all.

 

And like others said the exclusive game thing could he a factor if you really like Halo or any other xbox exclusives. If not def Ps imo.

Always been a PS guy & likely always will be. From my understanding they have built the best spec'd console in every gen to date. Most of my friends either have XB or dont game. Wouldnt matter though as id still be a PS guy.

 

I agree with Charles point of view as another adult gamer. The XB has always come across as more of a childrens console IMO.

 

Oh ya, i almost forgot, PS has Blu-ray too!!

My two cents.

 

XBone Pros:

- nice long analog movement on the triggers with default controller - I find good for driving games, also find the controller is more comfortable in my big man hands for hours on end but it's a personal preference thing

- XBL service has been very good in the past

- Kinect sensor is great if you have kids around (could also be handy if you like video chat etc)

 

XBone Cons:

- Slightly lower GPU performance compared to PS4

- More people (at least on these forums) seem to be PS

- If kids aren't using it, you'll probably just leave the stupid Kinect unplugged

 

If you're not picky about the controller like me, then personally I'd just go with whatever one you had more friends using AND/OR the console more likely to have your favourite exclusive titles.

They'll be almost identical as all games released on both platforms will be.

 

The PS4 is a little better graphically but people saying the PS4 is running things at 1080p and 60fps are lying. It's not, yet. The Xbox One probably won't ever be able to display games perfectly in 1080p/60fps but Destiny runs identical on the X1 as it does the PS4 so the gap isn't as big as people would like to imagine. GTA will probably run a little better on the PS4 but it comes to down to if you play with friends/what console they have. The Xbox is better as an all round media player too, if you're into that.

 

 

 

As for community, the average gamer you run into on games like GTA are screaming racists, platform is irrelevant.

Better performance vs price on the PS4.

Was cheaper than the XB1 for almost a year, even with the optional camera.

Bonuses that PSN has offered for years (free games!!) were lazily copied by M$.

The PS4 did a hell of a lot better over-seas than the XB1, mainly because the extras on XB1 ( The t.v. turner, cable and sat integration) couldn't be used outside of the USA.

Just a few reasons.

Honestly depends on the following:

-What controller you like better
-How many friends you have on each console
-The exclusives that each console offer
-How they look/cost

If I was to get a "new-gen" console I would go with the XOne as I've had the OG Xbox and played the 360 when it came out and still have it (well, it's my 3rd 360, to be precise) so I guess I could be called an Xbox fanboy but it really comes down to who is gaming on which console. We can't really decide for you - you gotta see which console offers the most advantages. Specs wise, I would honestly not worry about it. I know the PS3 had some issues with Mafia 2 and back then the 360 was deemed better because of it (Mafia 2 was very popular for like 2 weeks, though) but these new consoles look real good and have enough power to take games to the next level of quality.

Plus, if I may add, games at launch will most likely be similar as the console specs will be used wisely over time when devs know what the consoles can do. Applied to the 360/PS3, don't see why it can't be applied with this gen. Also, I'm not getting a new-gen as I'm broke and none interest me as of now.

They're also pretty useless.

Who the hell wants to turn on a power on a games console just to watch TV? I have a home theatre receiver for switching, and a dedicated (and very low power using) media player for video. Also if I remember correctly the HDMI was only 60Hz and didn't do Dolby Digital throughput? (I could be wrong, that's just what I remember, but either of those make it useless).

 

Their whole "one" concept was complete garbage. Also a large chunk of their production price comes from the Kinect, something that's amusing for 10 minutes - leave that market to Nintendo for god's sake. Quite irritated with MS in general with their 'utopian world' bull that never works in real life e.g. touch interface on my desktop - good one MS.

 

Despite this I'll be sticking with it personally (controller + hope for a more expanded Forza in the future + XBL has proven itself with me) but they did shoot themselves in the foot. Not surprised some people migrated back over.

Too early in new gens lifetime for me to give an EDUCATED opinion.

I will always be 360 over PS3 and it is what it is. Until I can get my hands on both new systems, I, nor anyone who hasn't experienced both, really doesn't have a leg to stand on behind the 2 cents he/she figured was worth spitting.

XBone for me, because of forza, and I also like the Xbox controller better. Not sure if I'll even spend the money to get GTA on next gen though. I might just stay on last gen with it. I got quite addicted for a while and I need to 'break free' if you will.

It is BluRay and can now do 3D playback Sony will be just taking a cut (royalties).
