Anybody else aim still horrible after playing so long?

I probably have the worse aim on GTA. Why I'm still in free aim is beyond me. Not to mention it takes half a clip of hits to kill people, while it takes them a few bullets. I can only blame myself though since I don't really care all that much. How do I go about getting better?

Well my accuracy according to the Social Club's stats is 28.87%, so I'm not that great either, LOL.

Maybe you should adjust your controller's sensitivity. or perhaps try a different reticle? I know that changing those improved my aim a little.

I can try changing the settings. And I didn't know you could change the reticle. Some of these people practice so much or play alot and I just don't stand a chance

With that said, I'm tired of that damn full auto shot gun. Every scrub uses that. Rockstar should decrease the range and increase range of pump action, my favorite shotgun

As I have ranted many times on this forum, the huge dead zones in the game controllers (both Xbox and PS3) are absolute crap. They make both aiming and driving frustrating and clunky. That's my excuse.

It does not have to be like this. Does anyone know of the XB1 and PS4 controllers are better?

My overall accuracy is 33%, but I still feel all over the place. I'm sure it'll be lower if you remove the RPG and snipers. Also we don't know if this is PvP or pve mixed.

My accuracy is probably 19% as I love filling cars up with bullets and making shootouts last longer. Of course the people that play in free-aim don't like long shootouts so they throw a grenade over or whip out a rocket launcher because they also can't aim. My tip to get better aim is to lower the sensitivity in your settings. Mine is set to low, while my reactions may be slower than others I can refine my aiming to get headshots when I want. In no way do I get those, though, it's just easier to shoot a guy instead of killing 41 bystanders and blow up a bus in the process.

The real Free Aim lobbies don't open until January 27th.

Using FA on controllers just doesn't cut the mustard.

Free aim tip, never hip fire against players. And zoom in every time you can. Fire shot by shot or short bursts.

But this won't help unless you can put the reticle over the player.

Also being a cleaner does my right hand no favours :( Pays the f*cking bills though heh!

I'm brutal at sniping. It feels as if I can't slightly tap the joystick when my cross hair is next to my target. I keep shooting around them but never at them -_-

I could be arrogant and go on about how good of a driver I am, but frankly I'm not lol. I'm not awful and crash in to every single thing, but I still lose control most of the time at very high speeds and end up messing up on Races lol, driving is one thing I've not managed to master yet.

I also for the life of me can't Free Aim, I'm terrible at Sniping against other players as I don't react quick enough and it's lot harder than NPC's, perfectly fine at Auto Aim though, but that's way more easier.

I could go on and on about how aiming and a controller is a horrible combo, but to be honest I don`t care anymore. I played free-aim until I got sick of empty lobbies and the aim being so terrible. Either you have twitch 180 reflexes or better long range accuracy. So I just switched to auto-aim and joined the casual club. I`ll get plenty of free-aiming when PC comes out.

I used to play Free-aim, just like i did in solo, but i switched to auto a few months ago for online because who cares.
At the time i did it because i was grinding missions all day and auto-aim made it easier. Now i'm used to auto aim and i still can use free aim when i want two, but my reflexes and overall aiming skills sure got worse.

My accuracy stat gets worse actually, I shoot at anything and deploy a shock and awe approach with the MGs, but my general aiming improves with practice like anything else

Well, playing on DS3 and DS4 does make a difference. Dead zone on DS4 as a LOT smaller than DS3.

Arrows to Athens

Havent played after a week. I came on yesterday and here the things I noticed.

-Bullet damage feels like it has been reduced significantly

-Heavy Sniper is much weaker. I had to put 5 bullets into someone before I could kill them.

-Sticky bombs have a delay before detonating and blast radius seem much bigger.

-More pricks in Online.

-More lag in sessions especially NPC traffic going beserk.

-Missions and races being more empty.

-Auto aim not locking on 90% of the time.

-Takes longer to kill players.

-Cops are much worse now.

-More modders. I came across a friendly modder who picked me up in his Coquette Classic and had super speed and could launch his car into the sky by simply honking the horn. I think he had God mode as well.

Accuracy doesn't mean sh*t. If you have the bullets spent it. My accuracy is only 26%, and that's because I love spraying bullets, especially against those mosquito cops.

jebus, even in auto aim it can still be ridiculously hard to get a shot..

Hid in the power substation this morning, sticky bombed the door.. victim walks in.. out of sticky bombs, so had to hide and hope for the best.. alas, autoaim couldn't lock because of the fencing and then my free aiming was just pants..

got killed in one of the best places to trap people..

lesson.. MAKE SURE YOU'VE GOT PLENTY OIF DAMN STICKIES..

while this may or may not be true, it can't be a reason for sucking

every1 has this same disadvantage so if the OP is noticing a difference in skill it can't be because of this

other people seem to cope just fine with these huge dead zones

I get what you're saying though, shooting is clunky and far from the 360 no-scope smoothness games like cod have made us so familiar with.

but I'm ok with this, in fact I kind of like it

granted the execution is far from perfect with the little things like the crosshair moving when you aim.

but this sluggish aiming does make the game feel more realistic, guns are big heavy things you can't just wave them around while running and expect to hit anything.

seems to be more coincidental and not a design philosophy or anything though, cuz the guns have like no recoil or any other realistic characteristics.

in any case, OP the only thing that really works is practice.

that or switiching to auto-aim

Mostly free-aim as i hate when it locks on to an unwanted target. I believe my aim is in the mid 20's. Dont really care about it much to be honest. Left for about 5 months & after a few hours of playing it all came back.

Adjusting the sensitivity & the complex reticule can make a huge difference.

Not surprising aiming sux. What game we playing here? Same reason driving etc sucks. It's just enough of every game genre. But excels at none of them. Been that way long before this title.

True and that's probably why half the fun of the game is the fact that it's more a satire than a "real" game as such...

I gotta experiment with free-aiming to counter the dreaded combat roll, though I had a moderate amount of success waiting for them to finish their roll, then blast them with a shotgun.

I GUARANTEE you I am the worst Level 340-something in the game. GUARANTEE. That's what's most frustrating of all. I've been playing this stupid game non-stop since when it came out, and I'm just terrible at it. People routinely hammer me to the point where its 14-2 them, and both my kills are total flukes.

well iv been playing 2 months and my aiming is so bad, that i went with hit and hope...

EDIT

iv checked R* Social Clubs stats (for the first time ever) and my accuracy is not as bad as i thought.

it says 32.56% (with Special Carbine)

I actually respect you more than most GTA Forums members because you can come here and diss yourself.

I constantly rag on my crappy abilities and always make fun of my cheap tactics.

We're one in the minority, though, because if you haven't noticed by now, most everyone here is a self-proclaimed GTA Online master.

I know the PS4 controller is better on that side. Don't know about the xbox one controller...
