The most exciting thing about GTAV on PC

Okay, here me out here

I'm not about to brag about draw distances, true 1080p, my beloved 60+ frames per second, LOD, mods, lighting, or anything like that

The thing I'm 100% most incredibly excited for is being able to combat jog with a mouse.

Being able to strafe across a road while shooting, without the awkwardness of those god awful analog sticks.

Anyone with me on this?

It's also the number one reason I'm eagerly waiting for the PC version.

The controller gunplay got pretty tedious pretty fast on ps360.

60 fps is number two, though.

If it's like most other PC games I've played, switching between M&KB for shooting and a gamepad for driving on the fly will be possible. I did that quite a bit in GTA IV on the PC.

That guy gets it.

It's not that hard, and it's far from being the hassle that people imagine when you say that.

They're all like "you can't be serious..."

Uhm, yeah, I can, and I am.

Push the keyboard a bit forward enough to leave room for the controller, and you're all set.

Drive with the controller, and when you exit the vehicle you have all the time in the world to drop it on the desk and switch to KB/M during the animation.

I thought most PC gamers would prefer using a controller. Mouse & keyboard reminds me of the early 2000's when I used to play Battlefield 1942. :/

Haha no, Controllers on PC's are only used for racing games.

Some people do use a controller because they went from console gaming to PC and they're better with a controller.

But i am positive if console had the possibillity to use a mouse and keyboard for gaming then alot of people would. It is much more accurate and easier to use in every single genre accept racing games and well, there are always things easier with a controller. Helicopters in GTA games for example.

But Moba's / Mmorpgs / Shooters and everything else is played with a mouse and keyboard on PC's by most people because you can do stuff much faster and more accurate.

Controller vs controller PVP is fine, but using a controller in PVP versus a mouse and keyboard makes the controller almost feel like a disease.

Controllers are better for everything EXCEPT FPS' and MOBA's.

Off topic, but I've managed to dominate a team in TF2 using a controller (DS3), while the other team uses mouse. The thing with controllers are a lot of people can't control their right stick (a full push instead of a gentle nudge),

Controllers are better for everything except FPS, TPS, RTS and MOBA.

Also TF2's not really too much about precision/aiming, unless you were playing Sniper.

Try those controller skills on CSGO.

Are you going to whine about how bad it will be again?

Yes.

Alrighty then.

It's not going to be a port. It isn't. You'll see when it releases.

Are you seriously still replying to these kind of posts? What's the point, there are more and more of these whining about how it's going to be a terrible port, that R* doesn't care about PC, and boo hoo hoo I understand nothing about how business and game development work but listen to me complain please.

It doesn't matter how much you know better, it won't stop until the game is out and everyone just shuts the hell up, wipe their crocodile tears and enjoy the game.

Yeah controllers are fkin garbage. In this day and age i dont see why they still release consoles with those sh*t sticks. Valve is moving towards a better one. Controller with laptop like control? Thats still garbage imo, why not use a mouse, or at least support mouse/keyboard other peripherals officially? There are some unofficial peripherals already. Which work but not as good as the real mouse/keyboard.

Definitely with you.

IMO both the benefit and curse of modern controllers is that the buttons and sticks are so close together. Controller joysticks are also too short to provide enough aiming and movement accuracy (constantly over- or under-estimating both character movement and aiming).

Granted, it's ancient now, but the Atari 2600's taller joystick provided much better accuracy:

One of my all-time favorite joysticks from the 80s and 90s was the Konix Speedking:

I love the keyboard and mouse combination (personal favorite), but the disadvantage there is fast access to keys when you have so many controls spread out all over the place. One of these days I may get a back-lit keyboard to help with some of the dark room gameplay.

  • 4 weeks later...

That, and pressing shift once to sprint then pressing again when I want to stop, rather than having to mash A/X repeatedly.
