The most exciting thing about GTAV on PC

Okay, here me out here
I'm not about to brag about draw distances, true 1080p, my beloved 60+ frames per second, LOD, mods, lighting, or anything like that

The thing I'm 100% most incredibly excited for is being able to combat jog with a mouse.
Being able to strafe across a road while shooting, without the awkwardness of those god awful analog sticks.
Anyone with me on this?

Yeah that's why I don't use free aim on the damn console.

Shooting should be a lot better with a nice mouse. But the issue I usually have with GTA on a PC is you tend to end up driving cars with the keyboard or mouse - which is nasty.

I thought most PC gamers would prefer using a controller. Mouse & keyboard reminds me of the early 2000's when I used to play Battlefield 1942. :/

It's still an ideal combination.

Left hand provides immediate movement controls.

Right hand provides instant and precise aiming.

For shooting, it's a brilliant combination.

But for driving I prefer analog steering and accelerate/brake controls. GTA mixes driving and shooting - so I tend to prefer the console version - but if all you wanted was free aim deathmatches, the PC should be pretty intense.

If it's like most other PC games I've played, switching between M&KB for shooting and a gamepad for driving on the fly will be possible. I did that quite a bit in GTA IV on the PC.

Cant agree with you on this, OP. My aiming has never suffered when using a controller. I play on max sensitivity tho...

You're kidding right? Controllers are for noobs who depends on auto-aim for shooting. Keyboard and mouse are for real gamers with 100% accuracy when using a mouse! You are just an insult for the pc gaming community. :/

Easily the video editor. I spent hundred of hours on that in GTA IV. I already look forward to the new machinimas and video contests.

And perhaps the higher amount of players in GTAO unless it will also be 30 like like on the new consoles. There at least are other options such as the inevitable multiplayer mod (SA:MP or IV:MP) that would support many more players and other stuff.

And yes, playing the game with keyboard and mouse.

Haha no, Controllers on PC's are only used for racing games.

Some people do use a controller because they went from console gaming to PC and they're better with a controller.

But i am positive if console had the possibillity to use a mouse and keyboard for gaming then alot of people would. It is much more accurate and easier to use in every single genre accept racing games and well, there are always things easier with a controller. Helicopters in GTA games for example.

But Moba's / Mmorpgs / Shooters and everything else is played with a mouse and keyboard on PC's by most people because you can do stuff much faster and more accurate.

Controller vs controller PVP is fine, but using a controller in PVP versus a mouse and keyboard makes the controller almost feel like a disease.

I am most excited for the ingame chatbox.

I will finally be able to game with strangers as if they are my friends, ask them to do stuff together and make crazy plans.

Ask people to meet up or start a mission, you get the picture.

It is quite hard to play together with strangers on console unless everybody uses ingame voice chat. And i will not use ingame voice chat because i dont speak English fluently.

Text chat for the win <333

1. There's a LOT of controller players without auto-aim.

2. Real gamers doesn't feel superior simply because they prefer a M/KB instead of controller.

3. Doesn't apply when driving in GTA.

4. People like you are one.

Controllers are better for everything EXCEPT FPS' and MOBA's.

Off topic, but I've managed to dominate a team in TF2 using a controller (DS3), while the other team uses mouse. The thing with controllers are a lot of people can't control their right stick (a full push instead of a gentle nudge),

I'm not a f*cking idiot that's clueless about PC gaming - older brother, big WoW fan, gave me a Mad Catz mouse. Never liked the thing because it had like 12 buttons on it, looked cool though. It's all preference but I would of thought "real" gamers would prefer a controller where you can actually practice finesse with thumbsticks and triggers, you know, things that give feedback by how much pressure is applied to them instead of mashing a button.

Sorry if I came off a bit of an asshole, I was just saying that it reminded me of when I was a kid (damnit, this also sounds douchey!). Just...good luck with the whole WASD/Mouse combo you got going on, f*cking pro gamer MLG champion.

*edit*

Noticed this was in the PC section and that's something that I lack knowledge of (I use one everyday but not for gaming). Good talk. :)

Regarding KB & Mouse versus controllers: It's personal preference. Whatever you're comfortable with, really.

I'm way more comfortable with using a keyboard and mouse for any and all types of movement or navigation in Grand Theft Auto. Yes, even vehicles, and this is coming from someone who HATES on foot controller controls, but LOVES vehicle controller controls.

If I want to drive around the map slowly and simply relax, I'll use the controller for smooth, more delicate vehicle control.

If i want to do anything else, including intense as sh*t chases and battles, I'll use the keyboard and mouse. I'm more used to it, my reflexes are better and my thumbs are firmly underutilized (just as they should be).

the thought of playing a gta game with a mouse and keyboard induces a reaction in me similar to the gif in your signature.

mouse is more accurate for aiming, sure, but for everything else in this type of game a gamepad just feels much more natural imo.

i remember trying to play gta iv with mouse and keyboard, what a horrid experience. gamepad all the way for me.

That's because IV's mouse and keyboard implementation was utter sh*t. Well, mouse implementation at least. The sensitivity is all weird. Try Max Payne 3 with a mouse and keyboard (if you haven't already).

Surprisingly enough, Dead Rising 3 has some really good KB & Mouse implementation when it comes to movement. When you move your character with WASD, it doesn't feel like keyboard movement. By that I mean, the animations have been adjusted accordingly for constant WASD spam in situations that would deem quick reflexes to be preferable.

I think IV does this as well, to an extent. Niko always turns around slowly, it's not like the instant digital input of the WASD keys is making him turn at abnormal speeds or anything. Except for when you're running or sprinting.

oh, yeah. completely forgot about mp3. using a mouse to pull off head shots felt awesome in that game, but i didn't have any issues aiming with a gamepad either. i guess my preference for gamepad just goes back to me thinking all or most third person shooters feel better with a gamepad. just a personal preference of mine.

i also think it has to do with sensitivity issues. i like walking slowly sometimes and driving slowly as well. a lot of times that's harder to do or even impossible with mouse and keyboard.

i haven't tried dead rising 3 with mouse/keyboard. think i'm gonna try that out right now.

No idea what I'm still doing here in the PC section. :p

I replayed GTA IV recently and even with a controller I was shocked at how fidgity the right thumbstick (camera A.K.A the mouse) was. In RDR and Max Payne 3 it's much more smoother - I'm guessing it's from the smaller reticule that we get in the newer games from R*. It feels more precise to have a smaller dot and I can see how a mouse could be perfect for shooting. :)

It might sound stupid but I'm getting the PC version 100% exclusively for the graphics. I'm still buying the PS4 version to play online with my friends, but I guess the graphics of the PC version of GTA V will be beautiful.
