Legitimate question here. Have they even made a newswire post just because it was the first launch anniversary for one of their past games?

If not, what makes so many of you think we're getting some sort of birthday update?

EDIT: Thread title was "Has Rockstar ever "celebrated" a one year anniversary for the release of a game?", sorry for breaking the character limit and having it cut off.

Because this project is larger than any of their others and part of their revenue stream is from the continual return of players.

I'm not expecting an update, but celebrating the release is logical..

All their previous projects were also larger than the previous ones.

I agree that it would be wise for R* to promote the anniversary. If they want to promote online as a long term game that people will immerse themselves in. It would have alot more logic then "random streaming of us playing the game with a guy you dont know and dont care about" So far R* logic has been failing though so i really dont look forward to much happening. It be great to see but...

I can't answer your question, but it seems like they don't try to be that obvious about when an update is coming out. If for some reason they are delayed, they don't have to worry about letting everyone down.

The only anniversary R* ever done was GTA III 10th Anniversary for the IPAD and ITouch.

they normally dont celebrate this type of things, but this game brought them a record 1 BILLION in 3 days, on top of that they want players to buy the same game again on the newer consoles...

the least they could do is throw a bone to the hungry dog that have been starving for content for over a month now.

Really? You're actually asking? You can't figure it out for yourself? Um maybe because R* considers GTA V to be their top tier game that they plan on keeping alive for years to come. Do I really need to go on? You're really that dumb that you can't figure this out yourself?

GTA :V has been their biggest and most hyped game ever, so I'd expect them to do something, whether it's just a newswire post or an entire DLC release similar to the Independence Day one.

They did the same thing with GTA 3. They're celebrating GTA:O as it's what they've dreamed of doing for a long time - a platform to build upon. While I'm siding with fish on this one, I do think he was a bit aggressive.

Me too, but I love a good rant so I approve of the roid-rage :^:

Like I said, I mean only one year anniversaries. III and Vice City's 10 years don't count.

My point still stands: If they didn't make any special celebration for any other previous game, it doesn't make much sense they'd make it for GTA V all of a sudden. The only thing that stands is the fact that this is currently the best selling and most ambitious R* game for now, but then again, so were all other previous games in their time. I really doubt we'll even get a newswire post, and almost certainly not a content update.

Good point

If they never did its not logical for them to celebrate now: )

Why would they remind people how long it has been with no heists? They should have a one day anniversary celebration and put all mission payouts back to day one payouts. That would shut up all the fanboys about this game getting better and better. Don't forget CASH CARDS!!!!!

Even if they did. Why would they celebrate GTA V's release in GTA Online when GTA Online was released in October? If they release anything it should be then.

The update is coming shortly after the anniversary.

10/21.

I have a source, believe it or not (don't give a sh*t).

People probably would have believed you if you didn't say that.

That's fine, I can't say who the source is or his/her position to protect their identity. My guess is there are rockstar employees browsing this site from time to time.

Just saying, expect an update that day 100%. He/she was spot on with the release date for the Next gen weeks before they announced it publicly.

R* keep releasing DLCs for GTA V and Online.

They celebrated several things already. Christmas, Valentine's day, Independance Day, aviation's day...

So, why not celebrating the one year anniversary ? It's an excuse like any other to release a DLC, or even make an event.

GTA Online makes GTAV special. Something very different compared to any other past games.

That being said, maybe they are waiting for the GTA Online 1 year anniversary, for some reason. Because the DLCs are mostly for GTA Online.
