Let's celebrate the one year milestone and remember all the good glitchy, false promises, laggy times we had!

Really glad about this game but it honestly can't compare to the fun I've had on GTA IV MP. GTA:O was seriously a step-back on the fun scale (yet I play it almost every day).

Some people are telling their own story on when they bought the game a year ago. I was pumped - it was my first midnight launch that I would attend. No other game was that important to me as this one was. My childhood friend and I are big fans of R* and their games to the point where we got posters of the games in our room and played GTA IV from launch to a week until GTA V came out. The midnight launch wasn't at midnight though. The closest store that had the game was opening up at 5AM. My buddy and I got there early, listening to a CD compilation I made of songs ranging from GTA SA to GTA IV which were our favorite GTA's. We arrived, judging those that were there. Some 30-year old-ish guy with what we assumed his mom, some 15 year old gamer that reminded us of ourselves from a few years ago and a 20-year-old-ish with what we assumed was his hot girlfriend. Not everyone there was a virgin! Also applies to us...and by that I mean we're real losers that have yet to talk to a girl.

Door opens to the mall and we wait inside the mall until the ACTUAL store opens. Security is really chill, some guy and a chick, making small talk with us. I almost wore a shirt that I wrote in red with paint on the back "f*ck Saints Row" (without the censoring - plus I actually love Saints Row 2&3, 4th was sh*t) - so glad I didn't wear it. Go in the store, see Brady Games strategy book, decide to buy it with the game because I did the same thing with GTA IV and it reminded me of all the good times I had reading that guide and playing GTA IV. I wanted to buy the Collectors/Special edition just for the Los Santos cap but it was way too expensive and pretentious. With the games bought, my buddy and I got breakfast, went to our own place, installed the game while chatting in a party and then left the party to experience the game. It was magic. I honestly would go back in time to experience it all again. I keep forgetting the good times I had at first and how the GTA:O aspect of it ruined the love I have for this game. GTA V is an amazing game and R* are getting sh*t on for the GTA:O part of it when the story and game itself is just mind-blowing. Nothing is like it.

Thanks for the stories, guys. I'm speechless that I forgot all about the times I spent hyping for that game (watching TypicalGamer every day for "new" info that wasn't always true such as snow on Chiliad), getting the game with my childhood friend and then playing the game. It's been a fun journey and I wish to repeat it with the next GTA in the series. :)

still some 40 minutes away in my timezone but at 11:23 pm, a year ago i was at my local gamestop anxiously waiting for that clock to mark 12:00AM so they could hand me my game...

 

they separate us depending on the purchase, collectors, special edition and gta bundles when first, regular game had to make a really long line hahaha

 

i was the first because i had both a special edition and a gta ps3 bundle!!!

Man its truly crazy how fast time goes because it feels like yesterday going to gamestop on release day with my brother buying this game which i've never done with any game in the past. I wasn't too big on story mode because imo online made this game special.

 

I remember all the fun times from the very first update to december snow update and free money and all of the earlier updates to now and as many problems as this game has, i've never been hooked this long onto any online game. So Happy 365 days Rockstar of making it as long as you did🎂.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Still not buying the game again though anytime soon

nice, here we didnt have food or anything...

 

they setup 4 tvs and 4 consoles and had people compete in IV deathmatches for prizes like keychains and stuff like that.

 

i got to the store around 10:30, the place was packed, they checked the receipe and gave me group number, "group A", with the amount of people i thought i would get out around 2am, to my surprise thanks to the system they used, i was out at 12:01, was at home at 12:05(yes live really close to the store) and was playing the Prologue around 12:50 as installation took a long time.

 

it was a fun day!

If you know what I know heist will problably be next gen..... OMG what if this was the plan all along???? Any way happy birthday to (GTA 5) it's the games birthday but October 1st is the real celebration of GTA Online's birthday ......
