Cosmic Gypsy
So my friend found an unnamed acetate at a car boot sale in Yeovil, Somerset (England). I'm guessing it's an old regional band from the area but no one knows where it came from, what band it is or anything about it. It's some sort of psychedelic rock/folk and to me sounds like it's from the 60's or 70's? It almost has a haunting sound to it and it being on this old acetate, unnamed, blank label/sleeve with no back story is making it even more of a mystery. Anyway, here's the video: If anyone can shed any light then thank you, i am aware that it's a long shot though, either i'm an idiot and it's some bootleg of some famous band or it's so rare that no one i meet will ever have the answers. universetwisters
I tried to look up the lyrics for you but one of the only ones I could make out was from the first song which said "give me your eyes and i shall give you my" and that's it. For the most part, it sounds like she's singing "I'm illegal" or something like that as the chorus. Sounds very interesting. So the guy who sold you the record didn't tell you anything about it? Not even any numbers or anything on the record itself? Edited September 16, 2014 by universetwisters
Cosmic Gypsy
The guy who sold the record knows absolutely nothing about it, in the first song i thought she was saying Maleeka (bad spelling lol, i thought it was a woman's name). I'm pretty sure she says where are you at some point after saying this Maleeka, or the I'm illegal thing.EDIT: At one point she says the name then says here i am also, so yeah pretty sure she's saying Malika. The second song goes like this..I wanted to go, to SwitzerlandBut i like a stage to playfreedom forsaking, to scared to keep livingi gotta dream....At least that's how i hear it at the moment haha, i agree the lyrics are quite hard to pick up, the last track has fairly clear lyrics i'd say. universetwisters
The one reason I'm not getting most of the lyrics is because of the pops and feedback and other vinyl stuff. It's the same way with , I can hear everything else but the full chorus. But yeah, I typed what I could hear of the lyrics into google but so far everything is all thrown around and stuff. Cosmic Gypsy
I never actually thought of typing in song lyrics into Google, i'm typing in what i think are the lyrics and the results are totally unrelated and random, just Google clutching at straws desperately trying to link me to the most relevant things. universetwisters
Exactly, it's a damn shame. And it sucks that you can't ask the owner where he got the record from so you could go there and find out what it was and stuff. DeafMetal
These are GREAT. I can't find anything on Google, though. I'm guessing the band didn't take off.

t3h PeNgU1N oF d00m
I'm curious as well. In the first song, it sounds like she's singing "On an eagle". She sounds very similar to Stevie Nicks, but then again a lot of females from that era sounded the same. Congratulations, OP. You're king of the hipsters now. She reminds me a lot of Grace Slick from Jefferson Airplane, surprisingly enough. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2yQLXTuctA Cosmic Gypsy and t3h PeNgU1N oF d00m
t3h PeNgU1N oF d00m
The man on the last track sounds surprisingly like David Bowie. I'm grasping at straws, but maybe it's some kind of RCA demo reel. If the woman is Grace Slick, and the man is David Bowie, then it would make sense considering they both worked for RCA around that time. That's possible, either that or it's like one of those demonstration KTEL records. But then again, the songs on those are real short compared to the actual ones Edited September 24, 2014 by universetwisters
Cosmic Gypsy
I seriously doubt the man is David Bowie and the woman is Grace Slick haha, would be nice as i'm sure that would fetch a nice number on ebay but yeah, I'm doubtful, lol. It's quite diverse for a single album though, you've got psychedelic sounding stuff and then folk-sounding things.
Cosmic Gypsy
Full thing uploaded, plus that's a picture of the actual acetate. Edited September 24, 2014 by Cosmic Gypsy universetwisters
universetwisters
Damn, literally nothing on it, spooky. I remember I once had a Neil Young album, Live Rust, that was just like that. Hopefully that video might get the help of some other people. Hell, maybe even join a music identifying forum or whatever it's called and seeing if anyone there knows.
