The lack of communication with Rockstar is what breeds all the hate for them.

 

First they advertise Heists along with GTA Online and then we find out that they are not included.

Then, after so many months, they finally say "coming this Spring".

Without any serious explanation, they decided to delay them even longer.

Now, they say "we'll have news on Heists very soon". It's been two weeks since then...

 

Seriously, I can't understand them.

 

ON TOPIC: The Cops n' Crooks Update sounds plausible, but it seems to be only for PS4/X1, considering that the players involved are more than 16.

It was actually 20 days today, 3 weeks are passing tomorrow. I wonder what "very soon" means in Rockstar's language.

I saw a symbol, like those for missions, near the open bank area up north in the main city. It was there on the map for a brief time and then went away. I looked at it with the map cursor and the image appears just like in missions - describing players amount, mission name, etc. But this one had an image of the actual bank and if I recall correctly it said something about heist.

 

Summary:

1. I saw a mission symbol near the bank

2. Checked the symbol and it displayed a bank pic with heist name or name of the bank (cant remember)

3. Checked the same place the day after and the symbol was gone.

 

I´m not saying it is heist just saying it was weird. The symbol didn´t look like the missions symbols at all and it was golden.

 

Nvm this was several months ago so it was probobly nothing. Although I kept seeing the same symbol popping up and out some days later but now it all gone.

There were a bunch of captures made there with heist in the name, maybe you accidentally bookmarked one or something. I do remember those floating around.

8 months ago the capture icon was new and unusual.

The area you're describing is the Ornate bank.

Gold icons are player created jobs that you bookmarked.

 

Right now I'm online looking at a capture I bookmarked at the Ornate Bank called "$$$ BANK HEIST $$$". Hovering over it shows a picture of the bank.

 

Back to waiting.

A million times this. A game as massive in scale as GTA Online, coming from a developer that has only moderate experience creating online games, is bound to have problems. And that's fine. I believe that most of the community would be understanding and tolerant of the issues we have collectively experienced since the launch of the game, had Rockstar actually let us know what was going on. Instead, they prefer to remain quiet, as though not talking about the issues makes them go away. I remember when they even went so far as to censor and delete posts on their support website back in the days when everybody's consoles were freezing, in order to play down how rampant the issue actually was.

 

Then, of course, we have the total lack of communication on release dates and what they are planning, as well as what their progress is, which your post addressed. More often than not, we have no idea which updates are coming next and what they will contain. This creates an economy where hackers and youtubers are encouraged to look into the source code and whatever else they can, and post any interesting finds on youtube, in order to monetize. Which means that they go uber-hype with their content, leading to massive disappointment and rage at R* when the Hydra is not released with the Flight School update, despite its appearance in the source code, which would ordinarily indicate that its release was indeed imminent. Say what you want about trusting the leakers, but note that Rockstar could avoid all these hostilities directed at them by simply answering straight forward questions in a straight forward manner: Will the Hydra be released with the Flight School update? Is there an update coming out this Tuesday? If so, what will it contain?

 

 

Lastly, they could also accomplish a great deal by explaining to us why they make certain changes to the game that leave us scratching our heads. What was their reasoning behind nerfing the tank? Are there anymore vehicle nerfs to come? Why did the Bad Sport penalty for blowing up personal vehicles go away? Why did it suddenly return in the latest patch? etc.. etc..

 

 

A little bit of communication can go a long way, and they do not seem to realize this. They should take a page from Bungie's playbook; Destiny has had a million and one problems since launch, and not only does Bungie acknowledge almost every one of them, they also explain their reasoning behind various changes to gameplay that have occurred. Players may or may not always agree with the rationale behind said changes, but at least they explain why they enacted them, so that players are not completely left in the dark as to why their favorite gun got nerfed or why the Raid was made more difficult. The contrast is incredible, really.

I speculate that I'll be playing in the snow while the Scrooges stew in their own bitterness wondering why a video game hasn't fulfilled them physically, mentally and spiritually.

 

Look around at all the other games that even attempt to create what Rockstar has created with GTAV, do any of them come close? Not that I can see. While not perfect, nor above some constructive criticism, GTAV is still a marvel and I'm excited to not only keep on enjoying this game but to see what R* comes up with next. If you're not, that's cool, but what is the point in trying to make everyone else as bitter as you are? If you have ideas to make the game better that's one thing, but to just complain and insult the devs and the players doesn't make sense to me. What exactly are you trying to achieve with the negativity? I don't get it.

The only issue that R* have really had is the delay of heists.

 

No doubt some of that delay has been due to having to undo the damage that hackers did.

 

Its probably fair to say that the game and more specifically online has been more popular than they expected. I believe that it has sold in excess of 23 million copies now. That means its been a learning process for R* - they've had to change and adjust things as time went on.

 

The original plan for heists was probably scrapped and started again, all part of that learning process.

 

I suspect that as the new gen release got close a decision was taken to delay heists until afterwards, I still would not rule out heists DLC when the PC version drops.

 

Meantime the servers are busy, traffic here is busy - people are still playing.

 

By far the biggest problem is the attitude of a minority who are rather vocal about their self entitlement "I deserve X" or "Rockstar owe us X because...." and so on. Whatever way you look at it these people are immature and really need to grow up some.

 

There is also plenty of people who speculate and then believe their own hype and set expectation on it, when their own speculation doesn't come true they post on this forum about how R* are idiots and how disappointed they are. Well, apologies for being a bit blunt but thats just plain stupid. If they didn't set their expectation on their own speculation there wouldn't be a problem..

Set expectations on facts - for example people are speculating that we'll get heists this month. Why ? did anyone, anywhere officially say we would ? no, of course not.

So, when we don't get them this month we can fully expect the "C* suck, they didn't give us the heists they promised" posts.

Likewise the circlejerk over crooks and cops - we've seen one setting (in a file of hundreds or more) that has the letters C N C in it now people are expecting heists, cops & crooks all this month! Neither have been announced!!

 

The most R* have said about heists release is "soon". That is a relative term - soon compared to what ? the next olympics ? maybe the next lunar eclipse ? PS5 release ? we don't know, therefore the only expectation we can set is that we'll get heists at some point.

 

Speculation can be fun, but to start believing any of it is fact is ridiculous.

 

I'd actually suggest that R* do a pretty good job on communication - they post to newswire, have their support system/forum and so on. It could be better, but its hardly bad.

 

TL;DR Rockstar's biggest problem is immature people setting unrealistic expectations and then hating on Rockstar when the expectation is not fulfilled. Plenty seem to forget all the free content we've had so far - would any other games dev give away that much ?

I agreed with you up until you talked about giving us free content. Their plans for online should be more clear to you now that the 1st year is over. Its funny because you were right about everything else.

 

The content lets face it, was pre-planned and packaged, ready to be shipped on said date. You don't plan to do holiday themes for valentines and independence and conveniently skip Halloween to prepare for next gen unintentionally, its Intentionally.

 

As you said its a learning process, meanwhile when these cars/ clothes and weapons are ready to go they work on the bugs and fixes and roll them out along with the updated content. Indirectly keeping most players happy. And its all mandatory. This gives the illusion that its some mmo type game but really doesn't have all the benefits of one. It still is for now just GTA V multiplayer.

 

Besides, lets say you never even played the ps3 version and only just started on ps4 - be honest, would you even notice the content if you never knew about it? (without the big description they slap on the images of course)

 

You talk about other devs but i just picked up Bayonetta 2 and Smash Bros Wii U and if you look at those games its already fully packed out with FULL almost lifelong content. Especially smash bros! Its sad because i started looking at things that would have been cut and seem like extras that Activision would have done. But Rockstar do it too, just in a different way, and you fell for it.

I think they're just afraid of bad reputation. Although their lack of exposition is kind of causing the decline of their reputation. People start assuming things.

 

Also if you ask me, GTA Online is almost like a sh*tty wanna-be MMO. The level of quantity over quality is absurd. I mostly play it just so I can goof around with my friends in free mode, but the money system in the game makes even that less fun. R* has made tons of improvements since launch, but it would require some major rework for the game to be as addicting as R* would want it to be.

 

I don't know about new-gen, but the last time I checked on old-gen the matchmaking was still broken, deathmatches were still filled with death streaks and other annoying crap, jobs were still player hosted(way too much control for one player), tanks were still too easy to obtain, NPCs on missions still spawned on sight and had frustrating accuracy, R* still patched all the fun harmless glitches(instead of the ones that actually bother us, though some fun ones could be fixed due to game stability), there still weren't any unlocks after level 120, not enough interesting things to buy and gaining money was still slow and boring as f*ck AND I DON'T WANT TO BUY f*ckING SHARK CARDS PAYING REAL MONEY SHOULDN'T BE A f*ckING GAME MECHANIC IT'S CHEATING AND NOT FUN!

 

Oh and heists were still not out, but because R* doesn't tell us sh*t like people here have said we don't know exactly if it's, because of money or actual technical issues. Could be both.

 

Ok, sorry for getting bitchy and moaney.

 

To add some speculation, I heard a mention some time ago that the level cap was increased to 8000 which is absurd. If this is still true then we could be seeing some new level based unlocks in the future(hopefully).

tbh the more we hear about heists the more they are sounding like just normal missions with extra cash and a little bit of planning. Im more looking forward to the Christmas update than heists. Story DLC was promised for 2014, we still haven't got that yet either. Heists will disappoint, Cops n crooks will be crap anyway. I expect it will be normal players wearing hoodies or their normal outfits. It will be two teams. It will be nothing like cops n crooks. I guess thats just how I see it, based on the decisions made by R* in the past and very recently. Im not complaining just stating my opinion and speculation. Wouldn't be surprised if we dont even get cop outfits or storable cop cars. What im saying is maybe we should move forward from heists, most of us are at around the right level and have a decent amount of cash. Heists are certainly not going to change GTA Online if my speculations are right. Story DLC is the big one. I hope my speculations are wrong but this is R* we are talking about here.

The only issue that R* have really had is the delay of heists.

 

No doubt some of that delay has been due to having to undo the damage that hackers did.

 

Its probably fair to say that the game and more specifically online has been more popular than they expected. I believe that it has sold in excess of 23 million copies now. That means its been a learning process for R* - they've had to change and adjust things as time went on.

 

The original plan for heists was probably scrapped and started again, all part of that learning process.

 

I suspect that as the new gen release got close a decision was taken to delay heists until afterwards, I still would not rule out heists DLC when the PC version drops.

 

Meantime the servers are busy, traffic here is busy - people are still playing.

 

By far the biggest problem is the attitude of a minority who are rather vocal about their self entitlement "I deserve X" or "Rockstar owe us X because...." and so on. Whatever way you look at it these people are immature and really need to grow up some.

 

There is also plenty of people who speculate and then believe their own hype and set expectation on it, when their own speculation doesn't come true they post on this forum about how R* are idiots and how disappointed they are. Well, apologies for being a bit blunt but thats just plain stupid. If they didn't set their expectation on their own speculation there wouldn't be a problem..

Set expectations on facts - for example people are speculating that we'll get heists this month. Why ? did anyone, anywhere officially say we would ? no, of course not.

So, when we don't get them this month we can fully expect the "C* suck, they didn't give us the heists they promised" posts.

Likewise the circlejerk over crooks and cops - we've seen one setting (in a file of hundreds or more) that has the letters C N C in it now people are expecting heists, cops & crooks all this month! Neither have been announced!!

 

The most R* have said about heists release is "soon". That is a relative term - soon compared to what ? the next olympics ? maybe the next lunar eclipse ? PS5 release ? we don't know, therefore the only expectation we can set is that we'll get heists at some point.

 

Speculation can be fun, but to start believing any of it is fact is ridiculous.

 

I'd actually suggest that R* do a pretty good job on communication - they post to newswire, have their support system/forum and so on. It could be better, but its hardly bad.

 

 

TL;DR Rockstar's biggest problem is immature people setting unrealistic expectations and then hating on Rockstar when the expectation is not fulfilled. Plenty seem to forget all the free content we've had so far - would any other games dev give away that much ?

 

I agreed with you up until you talked about giving us free content. Their plans for online should be more clear to you now that the 1st year is over. Its funny because you were right about everything else.

 

The content lets face it, was pre-planned and packaged, ready to be shipped on said date. You don't plan to do holiday themes for valentines and independence and conveniently skip Halloween to prepare for next gen unintentionally, its Intentionally.

 

As you said its a learning process, meanwhile when these cars/ clothes and weapons are ready to go they work on the bugs and fixes and roll them out along with the updated content. Indirectly keeping most players happy. And its all mandatory. This gives the illusion that its some mmo type game but really doesn't have all the benefits of one. It still is for now just GTA V multiplayer.

 

Besides, lets say you never even played the ps3 version and only just started on ps4 - be honest, would you even notice the content if you never knew about it? (without the big description they slap on the images of course)

 

You talk about other devs but i just picked up Bayonetta 2 and Smash Bros Wii U and if you look at those games its already fully packed out with FULL almost lifelong content. Especially smash bros! Its sad because i started looking at things that would have been cut and seem like extras that Activision would have done. But Rockstar do it too, just in a different way, and you fell for it.

Ok, but I for one will never gonna come out and say something like that because i'm fully aware of their content plans.

 

These "free" updates do actually come at a price believe it or not. The price to pay is that they tweak stuff and patch things to change the game. A good example is they kept playing around with the payouts.

 

"So ok heres a broken bottle weapon a car but should you enjoy this update you must download this update with patches to decrease your pay, and while we're at it we are gonna change how the mission jobs work."

 

You're not getting it because they like you.

 

The only actual update that is gonna matter or change the game is Heists. Most people have got it confused that its gonna be on the same level as these past updates we've got, but its not - and that's why over a year later its still not here.

 

They never worked hard with blood sweat and tears over some beach bum update. They're working on heists, the real update.
