What's the deal with being griefed on...

Depends on your definition of "griefing." If being repeatedly killed in humiliating ways is "griefing," then sure, I get griefed all the time. But that's just part of the game.

To me, it's only griefing if cheating is involved - i.e. mods and hacks. That only happens once in a blue moon.

I don't see it as part of the game at all,it never happens to me and I'm actively playing...

gotten properly griefed once. f*ckin once. i was trying to get into zancudo, and like how it often goes, if there is more than 1 person, it turns into a spawn rape fest with the same people getting jets and instantly going passive if they die, and then suddenly summoning the jets again.

but not once was it ever as bad as that time, there was this 1 dude who was decent enough, but was straight up spineless

dude was simply tryhard, he went passive every time he got shot down, and if he was about to die, he just killed himself to preserve his 10.0 k/d. ended up reporting the idiot for griefing after he had killed me for 24 times, every time with the jet guns. every time he had to face me air to air, he went off radar so he could just get around me, instead of actually getting into a dogfight

disgusting

Why not just change sessions, takes a minute and you avoid 15-20 minutes of griefing...?
because this was the 1 dude that i simply couldnt get back at, usually if i get killed more than a few times, the culprit wont be having a good time for the remainder of the time he is in the session

thats my playstyle, mess with the bull and ya get the BLAOW

So much pride,oh well..revenge where revenge is due Edited by bkldestroya666

Most of the examples I see on these forums aren't even griefing imo, if you get into a fight and get your ass handed to you, you ain't being griefed, you're just worse than the other guy. But I guess it's easier to admit the other guy is playing unfair than have to admit to yourself you're inferior. Btw I'm not flexing my epeen saying this, I'm one of the worse players out there, but I'm comfortable admitting to myself that someone is kicking my ass. If you can get past the pride, instead of raging and mindlessly charging in to face another beating, you free your mind up to think more clearly of how to counter them.

The pilots are generaly way better then that

And tanks...well easy...just get a jet :)

I wouldn't call it grieving, but I do get blown up by dudes tossing sticky bombs from their cars much more than I ever get killed by jets or tanks.

True non-stop grieving? I've never encountered it. I did once leave a session when there was a jet pilot who was just killing at will. He was badass, no way I wanted any part of him, lol. Most jet pilots pretty well suck though, not much to worry about. And tanks? easy enough to avoid if you want. They may sneak up and get me once or twice, but any more than that and I'm being an idiot.

I play quite a bit and rarely get griefed. Never been killed by a jet more than 2-3 times in a row. Ive never even seen a tank. The occasional turd will attack me with his car+ stickies, but it is nothing like what i read on here.

Also, ive never (to my knowledge) encountered hackers or god mode/wall breach/ invisible glitchers.

You're incredibly lucky.

I used to get murdered by tanks back when they were near impossible to kill.

I've dealt with jet griefers many times. They're practically commonplace by now.

God mode glitchers were rampant in 1.15.

I've dealt with wall breachers a few times.

Even though I've gone through all this, I've only been reverse killed by a Zentorno ONCE.

Griefing only happens to those who allow it.

If you are that type, its easier for the griefer if you feel too big to walk away.

I got owned by a Zentorno kiddie in Free Aim today, greifing happens, but its rare, but when you're in the rinse cycle its hard to get out. Bastard destroyed my Monroe and killed me twice more before I managed to get into my Apartment. It all started because the Cops were on me and did not leave even when I died. So he was just owning me.

Now my Mental State resets almost instantly (it seems after doing Contact Missions) and you do not pay Insurance for Destroying Occupied PV's, I have started "Attacking" everyone I see in Freeroam again.

Quite Simply: If you are not in my Crew(s), My Friend(s) or on a Job with me, I have no reason or motivation to be nice to you.

Getting killed, whatever the means. I don't find it to be griefing. Just a part of the game. Like sliding down a chute after going up a ladder. Or going to jail without collecting $200.

I encounter people like that all the time

If I find someone in a tank I either call up a tank and go off the radar to take them out, and go off the radar in a random pedestrian car and take them out with stickies

If I find someone in a jet I just wait until they crash, happens eventually...even though they usually end up going into passive or having godmode

Griefing is an overused word, and I'm guilty of using it incorrectly to make a point, but I have no problem with the idea itself; like many people have said, it's a part of the game and there are too many ways to counter it for it to be that big of a problem. I've never been properly griefed (or griefed other players) and have maybe seen a tank 4-5 times in the last 6 months. It's not as big an issue as many people make it out to be, so why everyone acts outraged over it is beyond me (but does make for some great, heated, debates about one thing or another).

Having said that, I find it hilariously disingenuous that some of the same people who tell those being griefed that they have "no reason" to complain, will then flip the script in a thread about BS lobbies and complain to their hearts content (don't believe me? Look up a thread about BS lobbies and read away). Both things are in the game for a reason, so if one group has "no reason" to complain, the other should have just as much reason to do the same; none.

I also agree that you trying to "get revenge" or charge someone who previously killed you, and you getting your ass handed to you, isn't even close to being real "griefing". That's just you being worse than the other player and being too proud to do something else (you don't even have to change sessions; just join a mission or something). Don't be stupid and keep your wits about you, and you should never get "griefed" playing GTAO ever, unless by a modder or hacker (rare).

Since all I do is bring the pain to sobby f*cks. No. I don't get. Griefed at all.

You should play GTA Online as if everyone is out to get you because that's how it is. Go AFK near a player and you'll come back to him spawn killing you.

Also lmao at an earlier post. Its very sad how most people cant take down a jet and simply rely on them crashing. Only a terrible jet pilot will crash.

So... 90% of the people that get in them.

Those type of players are the worst. I really don't have a problem with getting steamrolled by someone that's really that much better than me (and it's happened plenty of times), but a coward that goes from OP to passive to OP... It's like, "Dude. Grow a spine."

Its a game man stop being so uptight and just grief them back harder or leave the session.

You didn't even read the post. Don't say you did, I can tell you didn't. And IF you actually did, than you're comment makes you look like a huge retard who can't understand something simple.

Now days the only time I get griefed it's by modders or deuces in Lazers. I'd say godmodders too, but once you realize that they are in godmodde it's easy to sticky-bomb their car and get out of Dodge...

I'm generally pretty easy going as far as going out of my way to kill someone, but like many of you, something will set me off and lead to a good string of killings. They might have been annoying on the mic or maybe came and rang my doorbell (the nerve of some people!), but they end up dying by as many means as I can get them with before they either quit or I let them get away. If they really pissed me off (or made me laugh), I'll YouTube it, then message them a link so they can see themselves get owned...and sadly, most probably had no idea what they did to deserve it.

I don't go TOO far, though...anything more than twelve is overkill (unless they're egging you on...then have at it). After beating on someone for 10-15 minutes straight, it gets kind of silly and pointless.

As for GETTING griefed...not since the early double digit rank days. If I get killed multiple times now, it's because I stuck around when I should have bailed (usually in frustration trying to combat a jet), and that's on me for being stupid and prideful.
