GTAV will be a "CPU" heavy game? [DISCUSSION]

Building a PC from scratch for recommended settings with i5 4460, 8 gigs of ram, R9 270 is about 630 euro.

Pretty sure that gives you at least the same level of graphics as PS4 and twice the frame rate, so not a bad deal.

I checked using CYRI,GD and other various threads and they all say it will work without a hitch.

I ran FC4 and WD without any probs and their requirements were much higher than this.

Never ever again use those sites...

Those are just BS..

I didn't mean to say. that you won't run it..

Dual-cores should be able to run the game..but not like pure quad-core..

If you can run FC4, WD, then you should be able to run GTAV.

You're good.

That should be the same level as that of PS4 , if not more..

Running? Yeah. With decent framerates? Not so sure.

I am sure.

I would say it's going to be Ram that's going to be the bottleneck more than anything, considering the amount of issues IV suffered from not utilising it properly.

I think 8GB should be enough... IV was a different story then...

what do you guys think about the AMD Phenom II quad core? 3.2GHz... Along with an Nvidia 750ti 2GBvram DDR5

You did not mention the exact model..for the CPU.

Also the RAM.

The only reason I think that it will be the ram is they've obviously decided they needed a 64bit requirement in order to run the game. With a 64bit machine it allows the game running to use more ram than a 32bit is limited to. 8gb for recommended is still pretty steep in comparison to other games so I recon at least 16 gb would be preferable with every other application and Os running in the back ground.

Actually I wasn't talking about myself, but more about my friend's future build :p

My PC is a bit better than that.

Will be like MP3 PC version, all PC will can play the game.

If you have a hig end PC you will play with amazing graphics and if you have a low end PC you will still can play the game.

R wants money, so the game will allow all kind of PCS.

mp3 is a very small game in comparison. of course it runs good. most of it is cutscenes or loading screens in disguise, a bit overrated imo. like an interactive die hard.

at least you can skip the cutscenes in the gta games.

shame there are zero mods for mp3, would've been cool if it got a 1st person mod like mp1 & 2.

i7 870 is still a very decent CPU....

Its comparable to the FX4300, or even the FX6300 for that matter..

Plus single-threaded performance is brilliant, better than FX8350

Quad core cpu :facedesk:

I only have triple core  .

Maybe it not take a lot of performance.

At least I don't have dual core cpu

Yes it's exist lol

He has a Phenom "I" X3 8450 (see on his youtube profile):

euZTpho.png

Good luck with this rig for GTAV :/.

It was another trick from AMD (AM2+ and some AM3) with the Phenom I & II.

For example, all Phenom X3 (3 cores) were actually Phenom X4 (4 cores), but with a deactivated core due to a partial defect (during the final quality tests).

All the imperfect X4 (with 1 or 2 deficient cores) were sold as X3 or X2 (with one or two deactivated core(s)).

Sometimes it's possible for example to "transform" a Phenom II X3 720 2.8GHz (Black Edition - Codename "Heka") to a Phenom II X4 925 2.8GHz (Black Edition - Codename "Deneb"), for example.

Then the BIOS, Windows and CPU-Z really recognize this Phenom II X3 to a Phenom II X4.

And with a little OC to 3 Ghz, this Phenom II X3 720 (now X4) is as good as a Phenom II X4 945 ...

Unfortunally, this trick works only for the Phenom II and not for the Phenom I (like this Phenom X3 8450).

With a compatible motherboard, it's possible to reactivate (not always) this 4th Core (or these 3rd and 4th cores) with the BIOS:

-> Advanced Clock Calibration" (or "Advanced Clock configuration") on: Auto or Enabled.

-> And (sometimes) "Unleashing Mode" to: Enable.

yeah doesn't always work, the dodgy cores were disabled for a reason.

bit like the old geforce cards that had disabled pipelines, rivatuner could enable them, but it didn't always work.

i had a 6800 once and enable the disabled pipelines and though it work, i got a few white dots in some games.

i've had a few phenoms and none of them unlocked, just resulted in a reboot or a lockup on boot.

Hope FX 6300 is good enough combined with R9 270X(recommended gpu) for ultra/high settings!

Forget about it! The recommened CPU is a FX8350 and recommened doesn't mean Ultra.

FX 6300 with a R9 270X can run it on High...

Running? Yeah. With decent framerates? Not so sure.

Please no more Max Payne 3 comparisons. Completely differently designed games. Corridor shooters are ALWAYS easy on CPUs while open world games annihilate them.

If MP3 shouldn't be compared then the only game left to be compared to GTA 5 is Watch_Dogs. If that's the case, expect some requirements as hefty as WD. If GTA 5 is compared to GTA 4, expect a ludicrous requirement since 2008 and 2014 has a huge gap in technology. Sarcasm aside, We should compare GTA 5 to LA Noire. Makes perfect sense because both these games are set on LA and the requirements should be similar if not, a little higher.

Thats a terrible comparison. For one thing, the cities are NOTHING alike. Also, LA noir uses the havok engine, and GTA V uses the rage engine

Havok is only a physics engine, not a game engine. The game engine of L.A. Noire isn't Havoc, but an unknown one. V uses Euphoria and L.A. Noire uses Havok. That would be the right sentence.

Ah, i see what you mean. But either way, LA Noir doesnt use RAGE

i have an AMD FX 8300 AT 3.7Ghz and a MSI R9 280X 3GB

I was able to run most games like Watch dogs...project CARS at 50-60FPS..which is pretty smooth for me...

GTA IV with IC enhancer it runs at around 45FPS(with view and draw distance at max)..which actually looks like its on 60FPS!!I never noticed this until i used FRAPS...45fps is pretty smooth

So considering GTA V will be optimized i hope for 50-60FPS at around 50% draw dist and vehicle density

Well I pass the minimum in all except one.

Pentium G3220 Dual Core at 3.0 GhZ.

If it's well optimized, I expect the game to accept what I have, considering Shadow of Mordor ran on it. And that game was well optimized, along with having way bigger requirements than GTA V.

But I'd need some thoughts.

Change maybe to definitely unless Rockstar are trying to pull some sh*t like Ubisoft by locking the requirements.

And the G3220 is no joke. You highly under-estimate dual core setups Raburs. :p

...nope. Haswell pentiums are meant for budget gaming systems. Most games runs 40+ fps(on high settings) on that CPU if you have a decent setup.

The guy did run most newer games on 30 fps on mid-low settings, which is good enough for me.

"Maybe" means it may or may not run...:p

Also not all Dual-Core CPU are strong.....
