what "enhanced weather effects" could mean

...Enhanced does not mean new.

Quite explicitly so. If there was even the most minor of NEW effects, the marketing fluff would read: all new weather effects!!!

I expect it to look better but not work any different. Enhancements will be nicer texture effects for poodles and water drops. Just the higher overall resolution will do that.

The mist striking upgrade to me is the lighting (and shading). That'll make the weather look better too. Scenes overall are sharper and more vibrant and many of the shaders are upgraded. Metal objects like barrels, pipes and roofs look a lot better and that will also be the case with water shaders...better highlights, more definition.

In one of the rainy night scenes you can see raindrops are illuminated. It's subtle but will look fantastic in motion.

I don't expect any real news, just better looking versions of what's already there, which is already quite impressive.

I expect Sandstorms, lightning strikes, Hurricans, Tornados and Tsunamis! lol

Do earthquakes count as enhanced weather effects?

-More Thunderstorm (Dynamic)

-Dynamic Wet Roads and Puddles (yeah LG version had puddles and wet roads but wasnt dynamic and smooth)

-Sandstorm in Blaine County

-Fogs in Los Santos

-Cars get wet.

-Trees waving due to Rain and Storms.

Dynamic and smooth? I don't think you know the definition of that word. Look it up.

What do you even mean by dynamic puddles? Lol

Puddles that form dynamically, I guess? Depending on the amount of rain? Like big puddles during big ass rainstorms and smaller ones during simple rain showers?

Does that even matter?

f*cked if I know.

I hope thunderstorms are more common. The lightning strikes look amazing IMO, but I don't think I've seen one outside of "Friends Reunited".

Maybe there might be weather fronts too like in RDR as in you can see a storm brewing off into the far distance while it's still fine where you are.

Even if rockstar doesn't implement all of this (assuming most of these suggestions aren't in there already). Modders on pc will add them in just a few months.

We don't that to be reinstated 2,000 times about mods, we already know that. It's tiring seeing pc people whoring for attention stating the most basic Crap.

With the puddles, maybe have a rain storm that causes small floods so you're car can actually get stuck on the roads.

Dunno why, but I thought RDR did the rain effects better for some reason. It felt like a real rain was passing through, soaking the landscape and you could almost smell it in the air.

Maybe the NG GTA V will improve the rain and storm effects more. And I think I only saw lightning once in GTA V. Not sure why it was so limited

Yup, puddles from last gen were crap, honestly. Road gets a bit wet, but it doesn't get much better than that. We're expecting puddles at least as the ones we can see on Watch Dogs' next-gen version.

Also, rain droplets in the windshield MUST be there. It was my big disappointment with Watch Dogs and it is one of the features that I'm expecting the most, seriously, haha.

Considering the psychotic attention to detail that is evident in the last gen versions, I wouldn't worry about that being present at all.

We're talking about the same developers that actually made a specific sound for when you walk on broken glass.

The same developers that gave all cars the little "tink tink tink" sound when their engines cool upon exiting them (this was in IV as well).

The same developers that actually made a snot model/texture for one of Trevor's idle animations (the one where he blows his nose).

As far as intricate details are concerned, we've got nothing to worry about.

:p

Really? Wow I did not know about this before. Now I can sleep tonight.

Anyway for a developer to focus on the small details like that they surely missed a lot of the bigger picture (police car liveries, etc).

Cheers.

Lol some of you guys suggesting tornadoes or hurricanes.. calm down haha. Rockstar isn't making a Saints Row game. All we're getting are the following:

-Waves will roll higher during storms,

-wind before storms that cause trees to sway slightly (watch_Dogs does this currently),

-better reflective properties from rain (which we know are present due to the trailers we've already seen for next gen)

-Heavier rain in general

-You'll be able to see storms roll in slowly (Red Dead Redemption had this feature, GTAV did not)

-More realistic thunderstorms (Better lighting during lightning strikes and some better wind effects)

-heat haze effect in the desert areas of Blaine County

-increase in amount of puddles found during storms (also confirmed based on trailer)

-Volumetric clouds will look better and be.. volumetric lol

They're not going to add ridiculous things like snow ontop of mountains or tornadoes or hurricanes.

Haha, yes, absolutely right. I'm confident with that. And believe it or not, it's probably the new feature that I'm looking forward the most. I miss the rain droplets from GTAIII's Xbox version and the ones you can see on Red Dead Redemption while looking up to the sky... (and on GTAIV the camera also showed "signs" of being wetting while looking up, but without any droplet).

Speaking of psychotic attention to detail, I don't know how could I have overlooked that horrible misspelling of "features" in my previous post. I've corrected it now, but could you do the same on your quote so I can get a good sleep tonight, please? Haha...

I doubt half of the stuff most of you guys mentioned will be added 😂 I believe the enhancements will be subtle.

Was there footage or confirmation of waves rolling higher during storms? That would be great but I never heard anything about this.

Anyone expecting anything more than better visual representation of the weather we already have is crazy. We aren't getting extreme weather, we're just getting better weather.

Signatures are dumb anyway.
