what "enhanced weather effects" could mean

It could just mean better looking rain, lightning, etc. but has anyone thought about the possibility of finally getting snow? Maybe we'll actually get North Yankton as a playable area this time? At the very least I think the peak of Mount Chiliad should have snow sometimes. Maybe they could take it one step further and implement seasons?

Edit: Sorry for the double post.

I'd imagine it referring to the following:

Advanced rain physics (such as your car reacts more realistically to rain)

Rain happens less frequently in Los Santos and happens more frequently in Blaine County and Northern San Andreas

Snow only happens only in the most northern regions of North SA

That's my take on it.

We've seen better lighting, sun effects and better rain effects. I think were getting better storms and maybe more effects hopefully, otherwise everything they've shown so far is great! :)

I imagine improvements like the wind affecting things a lot more, like sand blowing across the beach and leaves actually moving when flying near them in a helicopter. I even wonder why the heat wave affect isn't present on the old consoles. It was in the Blaine county trailer and seems like a simple effect to pull off, but really would make a difference to make the desert seem hot rather than just sunny.

I didn't think anything of it aside from the cars reacting better in slippery conditions and that's about it for me.

Why are people so attached to N yankton?..lol...it's obvious we can get snow. I mean we got it last year for bit

different intensities of sun/rain.

localised weather. one area could be cloudless and sunny but the other side of the map could be very cloudy and heavy rain.

effects such as seeing ripples on water when rail is falling or puddles forming at sidewalks/water splashing up as cars pass/water running towards drains.

that's just a few ideas of what it could be off the top of my head.

I'm pretty sure that feature was already available in last-gen.

-More Thunderstorm (Dynamic)

-Dynamic Wet Roads and Puddles (yeah LG version had puddles and wet roads but wasnt dynamic and smooth)

-Sandstorm in Blaine County

-Fogs in Los Santos

-Cars get wet.

-Trees waving due to Rain and Storms.

So nowhere in the game as it is set in Southern San Andreas?

Even if rockstar doesn't implement all of this (assuming most of these suggestions aren't in there already). Modders on pc will add them in just a few months.

Better clouds. I wanna fly THROUGH the clouds, not just have them be below me as I gain altitude.

I'm curious about the new and enhanced "damage effects."

Is that for vehicles or NPCs? I'm really hoping we get MP3/RDR styled bullet wounds. GTA V's were pathetic.

I'm thinking hurricanes. Imagine the fun! Walking around and getting hit by a stray branch, having your car forced by the wind, jumping off a building only to be carried by the wind. Maybe even tornados. Having your car get scooped up 500 feet into the air or something.

Heat blaze effect, damn that's what Sandy Shores was missing. That would go miles in creating a better atmosphere there. I mean f*cking San Andreas had the effect back on PS2. No excuse not to have it on the 7th generation consoles besides intentionally leaving it out to hold it hostage for next gen and PC. If it was in the trailer back in 2012, it should have been in the game in 2013.

I don't know, but the lightning strikes better not look like they were drawn in paint.

Seriously...

Make them bright, thick and terrifying as sh*t.

I once nearly shat myself after seeing my screen flash from lightning. It wasn't the lightning so much as it was the fact that I wasn't expecting it, though.

Speaking of lighting, has anyone been hit by lightning in V yet?

I'm pretty sure its not possible. It simply looks like an effect.

Well shucks. I remember they mentioned it in a preview though. What a bummer.

Snow ontop of Mt. Chiliad? Not likely. The mountain is too small... I consider myself a bit of a mountain man considering I drive through them in Canada regularly. These include The Rockies in British Columbia and western Alberta. I've also been through the smaller mountains in western Ontario that are around the same size if not a bit bigger than Mt. Chiliad. These mountains hardly ever contain snow unless they are extremely high up or it's winter.

Seeing as Mt. Chiliad is located in the state of San Andreas (warm climate all year round) and is quite small for a mountain I would be shocked if rockstar put snow on top of it. If they did there truly would be an alien mystery.

I imagine a few enhancements.

-Rain particles react to light better.

-Possibly 3D clouds we can fly through. Above the clouds, there is no rain so you can fly above the storm.

-Flexible stuff like clothing, hair, vegetation, cloth, etc will have wind effects.

-Better lighting in general.

-More dense rain drop particles.

-Possible rain drop effect on vehicles.

-Better looking puddles (like where the water on a hill flows downward)

-Turbulence on aircraft plays a role in the wind effect so its more realistic, rather than random.

-When it starts to rain, you see the rain droplets on the ground that quickly turn into the pavement being fully wet.

-Possibly have it rain in one part of the map but not the other. Would be noticeable when switching characters that are far from each other.

-Enhanced weather transitions. You can see the storm in the distance before it arrives. Clouds actually roll in, rather than just forming in the sky.

I also hope that vehicles have windshield wipers that activate when it rains, like in Mafia II.

Also, what does Rockstar mean when they say "new foilage"?

Doesn't have to do with weather, but I think that when a car window breaks, you will see the glass pieces on the ground. If you notice in the current gen version, if you break a car window, then walk around where the window was broken, you can hear the crunching of the glass.

I hope more things more in the wind...

The coolest part about the dune buggie is how the cloth tarp it uses for a roof always blows... it's animated statically but still looks cool. More dynamic effects caused by weather, like hair or beards moving slightly... weather effecting driving control at high speeds (ever drive at a high speed when it's crazy windy on a free way)... maybe even more volumetric fog, even volemtric rain pooling.. volemetric sand and mud improvements...

in general tho i just expect it to be more pretty :D
