Jaippa
What's the difference? I know there's a topic about V1 and V2 differences, but that didn't seem to outline anything regarding V1.01. And as far as I know, V1.01 isn't V2. Also if someone could let me know if there's a way to copy the retail V1 files to steam to get steam overlay + hours counted? Sadly I can't try this because I don't have the retail version yet. I just ordered it.
Girish
v1.01 patch was primarily released to fix the hot coffee mod along with a few other fixes. This was only for v1 copies of the game though. If you have a v2 copy of the game, then you do not need the patch as all fixes have already been incorporated in it. lil weasel
The version one game is a DVD publication. Currently available Download is STEAM registered (Anti-Piracy) is a V3 game. Currently available DVD game is V2. If you intend to Modify the game, then the V2 & V3 would need to be "Downgraded" to remove programing intended to stop mods from working. You will have to find the "Downgrader" on you own, no help from this forum. There is no practical value in getting a First Edition DVD because of all the bugs/glitches it contained. And to use the Official Patch v1.01 would fix: This is the long awaited but somewhat shadowed bugfix for Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, and upgrades your game to version 1.01, for the North American version of the game. The patch contains a lot of fixes. First what it adds. There is now support for 720p and 1080i HDTV resolutions, and also the game now displays the Version Number on the title screen. In the bug fixes department, The annoying and often asked issue is fixed on machines where the OS has been updated (one OS installed over top of another) and has 2 registry keys that point to the users "My Documents". Here is a full bug fix list; - Issue fixed on machines where the OS has been updated (one OS installed over top of another) and has 2 registry keys that point to the users "My Documents" folder (we incorrectly used to assume the Win2000 folder, now correctly uses the last installed OS folder) - users know this as "user account period bug". - Crash when entering advanced display options with only 32 meg of video ram (32 meg of video ram is not supported and will only allow use of 640*480 in 16 and 32 bit. At this resolution it is likely you will see the "Black Roads" LOD problem). We do NOT however disallow machines with 32 meg of video ram from running GRAND THEFT AUTO: San Andreas. - Crash when entering advanced display options on a dual monitor machine after :- starting game on primary monitor in maximum resolution, exiting, starting again in maximum resolution on secondary monitor. Secondary monitor maximum resolution had to be greater than maximum resolution of primary monitor. - Destroyed cars now are correct colour. - Dirty cars now able to get clean. - Numpad 5 key is now mappable when re-defining controls. - Issue on all machines where certain collisions caused parts of the audio system to crash (sound effects, cutscene audio - only radio keeps going) - users know this as "Rain / Thunderstorm bug". - Improvements to DVD streaming. - Audio problems in interior / exterior transitions and getting in / out of cars fixed. - Some fixes to ensure reverb is not present at certain save points. - Improvements to dance game timings. - Crash occurring when using "user radio files" while the frame limiter is disabled. On the downside it will stop the hot coffee modification from working correctly, however other modifications should work perfectly fine. See the readme for more information. It is strongly recommended you upgrade to this version, especialy if you have issues such as sound problems or experience other bugs. If you really do need hot coffee however, then maybe this one is not for you. Edited September 17, 2014 by lil weasel OG Viking
radioman
Issue fixed on machines where the OS has been updated (one OS installed over top of another) and has 2 registry keys that point to the users "My Documents" folder (we incorrectly used to assume the Win2000 folder, now correctly uses the last installed OS folder) - users know this as "user account period bug". Actually, this is not really a bug due to the OS being updated?, as on both of my Windows 7 machines, when I installed the game, and ran it, it had the mouse freeze issue, so, I ran the game in 98 compatibilty mode and when I start the game, a second User Files folder gets added to the Documents folder and so I had to copy/paste all my saves and User tracks to the new folder. This is for BOTH the V2 (DVD) and V3 (Steam) copies of the game...and as far as I know ONLY on Windows 7, as when I played the game on my old Vista desktop, when I used 98 compatibility mode, it just moved the User Files folder to the Public folder. XP never had this issue. This also goes for the Retail (CD) and Steam versions of VC as well. Thats not really true, as I ran the game just fine on a XP Home SP2-SP3 now laptop with an AMD Sempron @798 MHZ, 256MB RAM (1GB Now), and an SIS/VIA video card w/32 MB vram and even though the game ran at around 15-20 fps (5-10 fps if Fraps was used), ran and played just fine-as I used to play many a Chain Game turn on that PC. So, that would more than likely depend on the OS?
