t3h PeNgU1N oF d00m
This thread is meant to document the differences between the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC versions of Grand Theft Auto IV. These three versions are alike for the most part, though they do contain some minor differences which you are encouraged to share here. I'll start: -"On the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of GTA IV, The Russian Mafia variant has a visual glitch where the exhaust pipe is on the opposite side of the car. Also noticeable is the trail of exhaust coming out of the original and correct place." -"In the PC versions of Grand Theft Auto IV and The Lost and Damned, the Cook has a full beard. However, he is clean shaved in the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions. In all versions of The Ballad of Gay Tony, he is clean shaved." Algonquin Assassin
I have the PS3 and 360 versions, but I've noticed the PS3 version has stats not in the 360 version. Like an addiction level, player image etc. Kampret, t3h PeNgU1N oF d00m, NightmanCometh96 and 2 others
donnits
In the console version, free-aim does not show enemy health in Single Player. In the PC version, it does. In the console version, blind-firing in cover is extremely inaccurate. In the PC version, it shares the same accuracy as it always does. PhillBellic
The turtleneck suit option at Perseus is present on the PS3, it is absent on PC. Cheers. B Dawg, t3h PeNgU1N oF d00m, matajuegos01 and 3 others

Apex
- The Combat Pistol has a lot more recoil on the PC version. (only an animation though, no actual recoil) - The Mini Uzi is held differently, Niko holds the handguard with his left hand instead of having both hands around the pistol grip. - Rain effects are inferior to console versions. - All suits are slightly different on the PC version, also there are no open suits. donnits, B Dawg and matajuegos01
theNGclan
-The firing animation for the assault rifles in IV are changed on PC to prevent the tapping method from consoles, however, the original console weapon animations still exist on EFLC PC. matajuegos01

Tilemaxx
Well, PS3 version was using the technically cheaper, inferior Quincunx method for AA. MSAA was used for the 360 version.
Cr!minal
In Playstation 3 version of GTA IV, there's an option called Flicker filter under display settings (helps to cover up jaggies by blurring them). This setting does not exist in Xbox 360 and PC versions (In PC version you can toggle similar blur filter with the P key). B Dawg
-The firing animation for the assault rifles in IV are changed on PC to prevent the tapping method from consoles, Wait, you can't ultra super fast tap fire on PC with the controller? And they didn't fix it for consoles? Wut?

Kampret
Well, PS3 version was using the technically cheaper, inferior Quincunx method for AA. MSAA was used for the 360 version. Are you sure it's Quincunx AA? Not FXAA or any some sort of blur-filter? OT: As Tycek already pointed out, PS3 runs on 640p, and X360 runs on 720p. 2xMSAA is used on the X360 version. X360 runs at unlocked FPS, while PS3 is v-sync limited to 30 FPS. GTA IV performs rather poorly on PS3 (averaged about 3-5 FPS less than X360). thehambone
GTA IV performs rather poorly on PS3 (averaged about 3-5 FPS less than X360).This is especially noticeable in interiors. Moving around in an interior is really smooth on Xbox 360 but not so much on PS3. I think the PS3's poor performance is the result of a sh*tty port on Rockstar's part. Nah, more like R*'s lack of experience in developing for PS3. They actually almost got the hang on the CBE (Cell), but they're stuck on allocating VRAM budget. In X360 they can dynamically adjust the proportion of RAM available for system and GPU, since it's unified. PS3 is more like PC, CPU and GPU have their own RAM. thehambone

Rockstar seems to like the PS3 better too... Agent is exclusive for PS3, and Bully was exclusive for PS2. I don't know about any XBox exclusives. So, kind of weird they'd be better at XBox. Too bad Bully:Scholarship Edition isn't available in PS3. That's more of a coding issue. Most R* titles after and including IV performs/looked better on X360. V changed those. NightmanCometh96
I have no idea if it's just a glitch or not, but the lenses on Niko's glasses aren't transparent in the PC version, at least that's how it is for me. They are transparent in the console versions. Edited September 19, 2014 by CartmanKusanagi

I forgot that at the time of IV's release the PS3 was still very new to developers. OT: Minor difference - the "Select" button on Niko's phone is Green on Xbox 360 and PC, but blue on PS3. This is presumably to match the color of the button on the controller used for the "Select" function on the phone (A on Xbox is green, X on PS3 is blue). Kampret
*bump* There was a SIXAXIS tutorial on the PS3 version. Off topic: Been playing with the PS3 version I borrowed from a friend, damn, that game is laggy on PS3. Are there any way to disable those god-awful exaggerated motion blur? There is not, sadly. And yeah, the SIXAXIS tutorial can be a pain in the ass when trying to access the cheats menu, especially when transferring from playing on Xbox to PS3, because no confirmation prompt is displayed before entering the tutorial. The game just teleports you to the airport. Nico
I have no idea if it's just a glitch or not, but the lenses on Niko's glasses aren't transparent in the PC version, at least that's how it is for me. They are transparent in the console versions. That's an issue related to graphic mods like ENB or timecyc edits. It affects everyone's glasses, not just Niko's. You have to restore the stock files of the db folder inside shaders folder. NightmanCometh96 1 Did you see the frightened ones? Did you hear the falling bombs? Kampret
The game can be upscaled to 1080p on both PS3 and X360. It's pretty nice actually, kinda reduced the jaggies on the PS3 version.
