Fully upgraded car, top speed decreased.

That's how it's always worked.. Stock cars have always been faster than tuned cars.

True. Thats also how it work irl.
Do you tune cars?

Since gta doesn't say how detailed it actually is, certain cars' modifications would be a lot more complex than just 'Enginr upgrade 1'.

The only thing that directly improves hp and torque are the cams and faster cams are a lot heavier, leading to slightly slower top speed. Although it's unnoticeable, gta still has it wrong in that it's decreased significantly.

Pretty much the same as any other modification. Turbochargers are heavy as f*ck since it needs a lot of oomf to transport exhaust gases and natural air flow through to the engine via dual turbines, often with intercoolers since they assist in cooling.

Pretty much common knowledge, I know little about cars.

You have two ears, two eyes, and only one mouth, always try to listen and learn at your father's shop more than you speak. No offense meant, just a suggestion. I hope you keep learning, we need more car junkies in this world.

those bars are not accurate and they dont even move at all for any upgrades other than engine and turbo. if im paying 20K for brake and 40K for transmission upgrades that do nothing if those bars are accurate, well then f*ck you rockstar, suck my dick is all i gotta say. they feel faster an stop quicker than without though, so im sticking with the bars aint accurate, lol

That brake stat would then be accurate. If you can lock up stock brakes, larger brakes won't help you stop any faster, that's tire compound and weight. With a large racing pad your first stopping distance could even increase since it has to heat up first.

The main advantage to larger rotors/calipers comes from fade resistance, brake torque is secondary.

You're missing some big chunks there. What you're saying is mostly incorrect - although changing camshaft profiles will increase horsepower output and torque (which actually leads to a higher top speed in general unless you run out of gears).

Extra weight isn't a big deal, once you get past about 120mph it's wind resistance that's really causing the issue.

But the original point still stands - you get people these days with a sports car who throw on massive spoilers and 18" chrome rims - and wonder why it's slower!

Edit: now I have more time, I'll elaborate. The amount of force (power) required to push through air as you speed up is exponential. If you've ever driven up to 120mph you'll notice how long it takes your car to get from 90-120 is probably just as much (if not more) as it took to get from 0 to 60. At high speed this is the biggest factor - so anything that increases wind resistance (crappy spoilers) or wastes power (big rims) will have a negative effect on top speed - but anything that improves power output (such as turbochargers, cold air intakes, free flow exhausts etc etc) allows you to reach a higher top speed because you've got more power to push through the air - the 10 or 15kg of static weight is negligible.

Of course you still need a gearbox setup capable of doing that speed - my old Evo would redline in 5th at ~220KPH - I couldn't go any faster because I'd kill the engine.

Yes, however I would say changing cam profiles CAN increase power, more lift and duration means more air flow, but everything is a compromise. Remember it's area under the curve not just the big number.

Had the same problem with the Dilleante. Fully upgraded and checked the stats and the top speed bar was lower 😧

Yep, :) That's why people spend thousands doing it.

The area under the curve isn't of much concern for a race car in general - unless it's a drag race and 1st gear is very long at least.

the main advantage to a stat bar in a video game is that it changes to show you improvement or decrease in ability of said stat. it does move for some cars, albeit very minutely, and it feels like it works for all cars, though its very hard to judge because you can change nothing and the car acts different just based on how many people are around and what they are doing due to various states of processor load and car performance is detuned to accomodate more power required elsewhere. invite only by yourself is about they only controllable testing environment but still isnt very accurate.

I went ahead and checked. OP is correct. Stock Serrano has higher top speed than my fully modded one. At least on the vehicle selection screen. I tried removing upgrades from mine to see if it changes, but you can't return the engine to stock. Nothing else changes the top speed.

I will find one on the street again and upgrade it to see what causes it, if anything. I suspect it's the engine upgrade.

I have been around since last November and have tested part after part after part,

all of the Performance upgrades helped in acceleration meaning we got to top speeds a lot quicker ......on straight roads we tested time intervals between cars, once both car got to top speed it stayed pretty much the same interval between cars......top speed was not effected,

On Curvy tracks the performance upgraded cars did have a good advantage, as the tuned car would get to faster speeds quicker before having to brake again (but the driver needs to be good at handling the vehicle )

IMO the stats bar is a joke for the most part it was from the start and Rockstar has only made it worse by nerfing vehicles case in point is the Z-Type ..its been a while since i pulled mine out of the garage so i dont know anything about it now...........but back in December when i bought mine........the damn thing was a lead sled, handling and top speed were a joke which most probably would have been correct for a car of its era....... THEN Rockstar changed they way it handled and its speed......the Z-type became a BEAST, nothing could touch the car, I busted Adders and Entity's asses in street races, which should not have been possible but thanks to a change in coding it was

Can anybody verify that armor slows you down?

It does not slow you down in this game.

going back in time again, we did find that cars equipped with 100% armor did have a little effect on the top speed but it was very little ....on a track i made that was 14 miles long and pretty simple .....times recorded we about 2 -3 seconds slower for the the car that had 100% armor vs the car that had no armor upgrades

BUT if the car that had no armor came in contact with anything that difference vanished on the spot......so having armor was the best practice and you ended up faster in the end

yea nothing sucks like hitting a weeny isis with a sandking and getting stopped like it was a brick wall and then having it freak out and push you 1/2 a block down the street unable to break off of it, f*cking joke how that sh*t works, lol
