Will old-gen multiplayer die out when new-gen GTA 5 come out?

There will be a few pockets of players trying to keep it alive, but it will eventually go the way of GTAIV's servers; a breeding ground for trolls, modders and DNS hackers.

its already that way, lol

Not to the extent that it's going to be; I assume you haven't played GTAIV's multiplayer recently, otherwise you'd get what I was on about.

Also, sultangris is a dumbass. That is all.

I second that.

i third that after what he said about user created ramp races

Also after reading those comments, fourth.

It will probably turn into a modding festival in 1-2 years from now just like GTAIV, if R* stop caring about it.

Just because you want it to die so people have to waste money on the same game again, it doesnt mean it will.

There's 44254131465 topics about GTAV's death since release, surprisingly it's still alive and well.

Old gen will probably start dying out in the beginning of 2016, slowly though so nothing to worry about atm.

All games die out (except TF2, surprised that game is still going strong after over half a decade). But GTA Online for current-gen will take time, as long as R* actually gives a damn (though, I doubt they do).

We should take into consideration that there are many people on current-gen who can't afford next-gen at this time, so they have no choice but to keep playing on 360 and PS3.

No. Most people will stay on last gen because most of them are console kiddies and their mommy wont buy a 400$ console plus a 60$ game when the old one is still working and he already has that game.

Alot will move to PC on its release, i assume that the current gen release will be less populated than the last gen.

DarkSavageDeathlyCloud

It took 5 years before the mp in cod 4 died down enough to make it hard to find a decent filled session(ps3)

This game sold better

So yea...but only on the long run

Also those complaining about emty crews...they might have just moved

And those complaining about friends not seeing anymore...to my suprise i had already 2 times the happening of a full friendlist....and i removed everyone that had not been online for 2 months

Both times i removed a load of people

Also half of the ones that stay on my friendlist generaly dont stay on the same game for longer then like 2 to 6 months

Gta online is at this verry moment i beleve verry alive to btw

For the ones that disagree...they arent playing in public lobbies thats for sure

there were 32.5 million copies of GTA V sold on ps3/360 as of February.

total next gen consoles sold to date is a bit over 15.5 million^ . (*10 million ps4 sales to date, 5 million xb1 sales up till april, i couldn't find any more up to date xb1 sales figures)

It's going to take a LONG time for next gen GTA to outsell current gen, if it ever does (which i doubt)

It wont take that long. Many gamers havent made the jump yet because of lack of titles. With new huge title like this more and more people will make the upgrade. Im selling both ps3 s before xmas and am getting ps4s.

This will be huge this xmas and next xmas. Old gen players finally making the upgrade to next gen.

It will take time for the numbers to balance out tho they are significant.

My bet is gta online lasts preety solid until next xmas 2015. It will be dead almost completely by jan 2016. My guess.

2015 is going to be the year for New gen consoles to start selling well. I predict a price cut for consoles and some game bundles for this xmas and early January

Its obvious Rockstar are trying to upsize you into buying the new copy

"exclusive cars, 30 players, graphics and more, get $1m when you transfer! Watch out guys, your 12gb ps3 aint sh*t for the 1.17 update!" etc

They're getting ready to let it die, you think R* are gonna try new content modes to cater to both 16 & 30 players models, no, obviously they'll stick to the high end model.

You'll probably see the patches coming less frequently for old gen also, from every month to every 3-4 months, then left alone for good. Can't sell cash cards when hackers just steal the money from players.

I think at the forefront of xbox one it's going to mainly be the hardcore gamers. Around Christmas were gonna get a squeaker infection.

A lot of ppl I don't see caring to rebuy the game. I'm sure your casual players will stay on 360 and ps3 for a while.

Most ppl hold off on new game systems until they drop the prices down to around 200$. By then I don't see ppl buying gta v or it will be one of those classic games they sell for 20$ at the front of Walmart.

At the same time I know ppl still like to play red dead online...

I disagree. The price won't drop to that level for a long time and we've seen the last of the big PS3/360 releases already. I believe most people will be on new gen by the middle of next year.

You have 2 types of people to consider here

Your gamers - 10%

Your typical people- 90%

The gamers will buy before then, but your average person won't pay more than 200$ for a gaming machine. I know because that used to be me.

Hopefully support is dropped after the current gen releases, The old gen consoles are just that....old Gen and current gen needs to be the #1 concern not last gen consoles and it's userbase.

I agree, they should completely drop their entire customer base who doesn't run out and buy the game a second time.

You should get a job at EA, they'd love you.

Excatly, here is a rundown of the games I want to play, unsure what is out now and what is not, I'm behind.

Both Xbox 360/PS3 and One/PS4:-

Mudered Soul Suspect

The Amazing Spiderman 2

Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor

Watch Dogs

LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham

Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor

Rise of the Tomb Raider

Mad Max

Exculsive to One/PS4:-

Batman: Arkham Knight - the game which I would have got a new console this Xmas for, but out June 2015.

Assassins Creed Unity

Just 2 games!

I posted this earlier but it either got removed or didn't actually get posted.

Since current gen is being released in November won't current gen have safer servers until Christmas.

Which brings me to believe that after Christmas about 60% of the 360/PS3 player base will have moved on and along with that all the kiddies that got their parent's to get them the new console.

I'm guessing that by this time next year 360 and PS3 servers will have barely anyone in them, plus with the posts I've read above if they actaully do cut old gen out and deliver the updates far less frequently and eventually never then less and less people will play.

Because every old gen owner had $-€500 in their pockets to just buy a upscaled GTA5 right?, moron.

GTA 5 next gen has to compete with all the newer games. If people have $60, what do you think they will spend on first?

I actually never played it online for more than 15 minutes after it was about a year old cause I was playing battlefield or possibly supreme commander on the pc at the time, both of which were 1000X better muliplayer experiences. GTA4 was a sh*t show with every dumbass noob using rockets and exploits and cheats and as i was a year late to the party i didnt know wtf was going on or how they were cheating and i couldnt even compete so it was not fun but I didnt care to waste time trying to figure it out cause it was basically a sh*tty 3rd person shooter with subpar graphics and a sh*tty controller full of asshat griefing cheaters and I had much better PC games to play online without any cheaters in them. i loved single player though and played it a long time after beating the story, unlike 5 which sucks and havent played single at all after the story cause theres nothing to do. However in the last 2 months ive not encountered a single public lobby that didnt have a cheater in it so i dont consider 5 any better at this point, the only difference is i started playing it at the start so i know all the tricks and how to counter or avoid them so its not near as bad as if youre just now starting to play and try and catch up to a years worth of playing experience against people that know the good spots to be and the best ways to kill you. youre not gonna have a fun or easy time, its much better to play the game from new so you learn everything at the same rate as everyone else and can tell if they are cheating pussy noobsacks with no skills or if they are just actually good and kicking your ass fair and square. Otherwise its like your first day off the couch heading into the boxing ring with a guy whos been training for a year, hes gonna beat your out of shape ass silly, and as a real gamer i dont particularily like to lose as im usually more at the top of the food chain in games i start playing on release day, lol

Yes it will, sooner than later. Only people who haven't got latest Gen consoles would believe otherwise, and that's completely understandable.

I haven't got a new gen console (yet) and I think it will, eventually that is. But whilst pretty much all new games are still being released on old gen I see no reason to fork out my cash as of yet.

Also in waiting the console prices are dropping. PS4 has dropped to £350 and thats with a game included. I would imagine in the Jan sales it will be around the £275-300 mark. So im happy to wait.

I don't know about anyone else but it kind of feels like its slowly dying on Xbox or maybe it's just this week. Both AA & FA lobbies aren't as full as they usually are.
