Is owning a Helicopter worth it?

Previous to the new payout structure a buzzard would pay for itself many times over, and I had one for each of my characters. Now after creating a new account though, it seems useless unless you would use it for trolling in Freeroam. So I have no plans of wasting money on one

Like the above guys said, you can't go wrong with the buzzard although it has the tendency the stall after a certain amount of time which is the only negative.

What? Certain amount of bullets, maybe. Buzzard is what makes this game bearable. ;)

Yep. I believe you need one of each. One Heli (Buzzard), at the most two airplanes, and one sea vehicle for emergencies (Seashark).

The buzzard is not a must have. I own one and barely use it due to the new mission criteria.

The buzzard I use in Los santos connection is the one of the three that spawn at the airport, trash talk with randoms, someone will always bring their buzzard so normally I just drive to el burro heights.

The other helicopters aren't needed, just call Lester or merryweather for one.

For actual usability, the Buzzard would be the most worth. Homing missiles make this a valuable asset to your mission grinding.

Everything else is just for entertainment.

The most useful helicopter would be the Buzzard.

My problem is learning to aim with the damn thing. Maybe need more practice. I know you can switch views in the machine gun helicopter, but its still hard.

The Buzzard will auto lock enemy ai in missions. It will also auto target playrs in free mode long as they are in another aircraft.

The Buzzard is very useful for some missions even after the update.

Base Invaders (solo) - Play this mission solo and call in the Buzzard. Hop in Ron's plan to trigger the Cargobob then take your Buzzard to the army base. Hover outside ai range and just keep blasting. It will take a while, but if you keep blasting the ai's you will after a while clear out the army base completely. You can even use the Buzzard to blast 2 of the guys inside the hangar (the two guys off to the right of the Cargobob), there is just 1 guy directly behind the Cargobob. Never ever blast that 1 ai, use a gun on him.

Mixed Up With Coke (any number) - I've done this mission on foot going slow to kill all the guys in SUV's that come after you, clear out the construction zone, then drive half way over the map twice to get both trucks. It's not worth it. Maybe with 3 or 4 guys, but solo, no. You'll be a good 15 or 20 minutes and end up with around 9k ammo for a 20k payout. So 11-12k would be your profit. You could do Boneyard in similar time for much better profit. In this mission, at least on solo you are better going though with the Buzzard and destroying the trucks. You'll make similar profit, but better do the mission in 6-7 minutes then 20.

Coveted (2 players) - On this mission your Buzzard will spawn at Sandy airfield. Best thing to do is have a friend who can start sniping ai's while you run down the hill and drive to the airport. A competent sniper should have the area just about clear when you return. If your buddy did miss any ai's, they are cannon feed for your Buzzard. Have your buddy grab the Cargobob and crate and while he heads for the checkpoint, you take out the enemy heli that tries to shoot him down.

American Exports, Docks to Stocks, Docks to Stocks 2 (2 player) - This mission provides a Buzzard for you inside the army base. The best thing you can do is jump in the base with a friend, grab the Buzzard and make sure your friend understands to grab a Cargobob and land it outside the army base. Don't try to outrun police in a Cargobob. When your buddy land the Cargobob outside the base, land the Buzzard and pick him up. Use the Buzzard to shake the 4 star cops then circle back and pick up the Cargobob you landed outside the army base. Proceed to complete each mission to it's requirements.

Any mission where you need to collect a boat (2 player) - Every mission where the target vehicle is a boat, soon as you collect that boat there will be either (1) a onslaught of enemy boats, (2) a enemy heli, or (3) a combination of both. The absolute best thing to do is have your Buzzard at the ready while a friend collects the mission boat. The Buzzard will make it much easier to take out the enemies.

Buzzard's used to be useful for grinding easy money off Trash Talk, Chopper Tail, etc. But now you no longer want to bother with a Buzzard on any of these missions as doing them slower will pay out better. 1.16 took away a lot of the usefulness the Buzzard used to have, but for the missions I listed above the Buzzard is still worth having.

The Buzz is almost like a cheat device for missions. Get it, really.

Like everybody else said, buy the Buzzard. Everything else is more of a luxury.
