Racism towards black characters in GTAO?

I just created a new character to start earning all of the vehicles, weapons, etc. back again from the ground up, and accidentally ended up creating a black character. I dressed him up nicely, with a sharp black/white suit and a nice parted haircut. But when it came time for me to mess around in free roam, I noticed something was very different.

 

All of a sudden, people were going out of their way to make sure I couldn't have a good time. From sending crews to gang up on me, to repeatedly sticky bombing me, even simple rude things like driving by and giving me the finger. One white character even set me on fire while I was afk with the gas can, and then using that same gas can lit my CORPSE on fire. I couldn't deliver any of Simeon's vehicles without somebody killing me before I could deliver it.

 

So, my question is, does racism really exist in GTAO, and what sort of things can we do to make sure this doesn't happen?

Just sounds like you had a bad run of free roam.

Also because it's a new character with low rank (and health, and weapons etc), you kind of stick out like donkey balls for getting picked on.

Are you new here? Have you never played GTA Online? If you answered yes to these questions, this may explain why you're getting killed.

I use a black character on one account, never had any issues.

Some guy from Chile (checked his gamertag) kept calling me 'Neega' (lol) over the mic in a bat deathmatch (which I actually won ) During the victory screen he said 'Neega cheater cheat neega' repeatedly. I just laughed 'cause of his bad engrish. What an ignorant prick.
