Usually I'd agree, but many people:

- bought the title for online

and/or

- expected story mode to be a lot longer than it was (pretty short for a GTA) - a LOT of development time were spent on the online mode

 

Personally I'd say you paid 50/50 for V/O. But irrelevant of this, the game is epic value for money. The only reason I bitch about online heists is because there was only a couple in SP and they said it was coming and continually keep delaying it. There is a lot of potential for it to be quite a fun game mode.

 

On topic: the judge threw this case out for a valid reason - they never said it'd be available immediately and it didn't take that long for it to come online - e.g. it was resolved. The problems after it came online we got a gift of 500K GTA$ as an apology - they did more than the minimum and I was quite proud of that.

the lawsuit wastn specifically about heists. Also welcome to JAn 2014 when this all happened.

 

He knows. He's suggesting it's the same scenario with heists.

 

e.g. advertise the ability to do X, then deliver X months later instead of when the customer buys the product

Legally it doesn't quite relate though as Heists was being released as a free DLC - even though we were teased and later told it was coming soon.

There was a lawsuit on this? Everyone involved in bringing this action should be horse whipped through the streets for wasting the courts time, and then be forcibly neutered so they can't inflict what will undoubtedly be idiot offspring on the rest of the world.

No lies good sir. Right now, they are testing the online market through Amazon sales. They sold out twice today already. It's in the works to bring it back to stores

f*ck cockstar, and if you don't care about heists, you're not a true fan of the old GTA. Which in the past obviously cared about simulating crime to the best of it's abilities. Also, we need to do a class action lawsuit against them. f*ck those pieces of sh*t.

I am so sick of hearing this f*cking phrase. GTA 'simulates' crime about as much as Watch_Dogs simulates hacking, or Super Mario simulates drug use.

 

The Car argument is completely justified, but the people arguing about it were to close to it, or too dumb to articulate their points.

 

You're looking to buy a car from a dealership, the price doesnt matter. Its listed to include all the thing you'd expect, but also lists

 

*XM Radio (subscription required)

*Touch screen stereo interface.

 

You buy the car, and when you pick it up, instead of a touch screen stereo you find a sticky note that says coming soon.

 

This is supposed to be okay? You bought the product expecting the things listed to be there, they weren't. According to the judge in the OPs link, you have no right to demand a refund, or sue the dealership, because they didn't specifically say that the touch screen would be available immediately.

 

Its not about advertising, its about companies f*cking lying to their customer base, promising things they don't deliver, and getting away with it because 'it wasn't said to be immediately available.'

 

If I were to threaten to harm someone of great importance, do you think i'd be treated with leniance because I didn't specify when it would happen? No, because saying you'll do something is saying you'll do something.

 

It doesnt matter that Rockstar didn't specifically say when heists were coming out, and instead chose to say that they'd release them soon. A year, is not f*cking soon.

Because that's not what the Judge ruled. She ruled for this particular argument of not having the full product "immediately".

I know this has been discussed before and warned you in the title, but this is another aspect to heists I think someone should say.

 

Not that I really care or want heists at this point and have plenty of fun without them, but I keep hearing how "they didn't give a date" on heists so it shouldn't matter...... and this argument in particular is a little frightening.

 

A Judge threw out a lawsuit against R* not bringing heists for this very reason.

This is a little alarming since based on this logic, what's stopping gaming companies from putting all sorts of shenanigans on the back of the box and saying we'll get it "soon"?

 

This basically means at some point any number of consumers could pay for blank disks with "future content" at "some later point", and have no recourse.

 

Or, well, we didn't specifically say this content wasn't behind another paywall......

 

See where I'm going with this?

I highlighted the best point you made. The future of video games looks grim, at best.

 

There are very few people out there making video games for the love of it... most devs/companies are in it for the money now.
