significantother
The thing is that GTA is meant to be offensive and satire. It's not meant to, nor does it portray women accurately. Like come on you're trying to find accurate portrays of women in a game where you shoot random people, steal cop cars, blow up buildings, smoke drugs, and go on violent rampages? This "politically correct" crap is getting out of hand. It doesn't belong here. OneManCrimeWave, robban, 007_eleven and 2 others
Jimbatron
It's true some of the women in the story aren't portrayed in a particularly positive light, but the men aren't exactly paragons of virtue either. There's no sexism in terms of bias in the way it was written. Arguably some of the most positive portrayals (in a relative sense within GTA) are women - Patricia, Paige, and Taliana all come across as competent and able to survive in dangerous situations. ribon
Now, I know GTA is satirical. However, as Fuzz said, that doesn't mean that all female characters should be sluts. Denise Clinton (Franklin's aunt) - a new age feminist (much like the critics who say GTA is misogynistic) Molly Schultz - Devin Weston's lawyer and vice president and general counsel to Weston's business. Enough said. Patricia Madrazo - Martin Madrazo's wife. She's abused by her husband and despite the fact that Martin even cheated on her on many occasions, she refuses to leave or cheat on him. Again, people, do your homework. This time, read my entire post, instead of cherry-picking: (Updated previous post) OK, most, but not all, women in GTA V are sexualised, that's for sure. This includes Molly, the typical "sexy secretary". Denise was a stereotypical "bitch". You only named 3 characters (only 2 of which who weren't sexed up). You also forgot to mention Tanisha, she wasn't sexualised... or was she?? I can name the following, as sluts/sexualised characters: Tracey Amanda Fufu All the hookers killed for them duplicate adders Chastity (ironic name for a stripper) Juiliet Infernus Cheetah Tonya Molly There are also the "bitches", who are either aggressive, or annoying: Mary-Ann Denise Tanisha Karen And the fat NPCs found on beaches, and Maude. Most, if not all, women in the game are either sluts, fat, or are murderous/angry "bitches". Now you see people here saying that GTA V is portraying women "accurately". Oh I'm sorry, because most men in the game are portrayed as hard workers and loving husbands - role models to children everywhere. We have Michael, an ex-convict living in a big mansion in a WPP who's a cynic alcoholic and a depressed fart until he begins robbing and killing again. Then there's Franklin, sharing a house with his aunt and doing "legit" business for Simeon to make ends meet. He later on manages to get out of the hood.... by performing even bigger criminal deeds. Trevor... a typical unstable psycho who's been stabbed in the back by Michael. He's unpredictable and very dangerous to everyone around him. Another criminal. I'm not gonna go on because this list is huge, but the only "normal" character in the whole damn game is Floyd. And even he's portrayed as a weak sheep minded individual who is manipulated by his "girlfriend". Oh, and as for these girls Chastity Juiliet Infernus Cheetah ....really? You're annoyed because girls who work at a strip joint are portrayed as strippers? Shame on you Rockstar! The_Wizzard_73

Pau Diaz
GTA V portrays women more explicitly as more direct and malignant, i.e. Karen breaking the fingers of the man she was interrogating with a flash light and telling others to sodomize him without using lube, or Debra, threatening her boyfriend with a gun, at the same time it sets them up for failure or forces them to retreat. Now, neither of these women gets their way, as Trevor crashes in on Karen's interrogation and Debra is shot. I get such strong a feeling of Deja Vu. Asuka was as nasty as Karen and she was killed in GTA III. Gracie Ancelotti from gets abducted, tied up, knocked out twice and humiliated by having a photo taken of her tied up. As much as I don't like this sort of thing, I care enough to at least try to understand it. I mean, women in the 21st century have come a long way, but R* has the need to punish or exploit them, as either stereotypes or victims. Why? 007_eleven
Feminists trying to ruin GTA as well now huh... We play as the wrong type of men, committing barbaric acts of crime in the name of greed, of course that will only attract the wrong type of woman. What would a soccer mom housewife have to do with the story of GTA? Normal people are rarely present in this underworld sh*t because to their only realistic view is to find it horrifying and they end up as fodder like Floyd. They are either insane, money obsessed, power obsessed, socially awkward, have mother issues, etc. GTA does not reinforce socially damaging stereotypes, it tries to knock them down - and if you have played the game, you should know this. joyrider00
The thing about GTA 5 isn't that it's misogynistic, but rather the fact that everybody seems to play a crazy huge stereotype of something, like Jimmy being a stoner video gamer, Wade being a meth casualty, etc. however, it didn't feel that way in IV and other older GTA games. f*ck, the only down-to-earth character there might have been in V was Floyd. Pau Diaz
Well, however Rockstar wishes to portray women, they always deny them the chance to come out on top. They get them out of the way by either killing them or removing them from the story. I reckoned that the story-line with Johnny and Ashley could have gone on longer, but, Johnny's remark of 'you can kill yourself on your own,' - a fine show of indifference and lack of empathy. We never see how they reconcile until we see Ashley getting banged by Trevor in GTA V - a very fine way to show a lack of consideration for Ashley. Really, seeing Ashley getting corn holed by Trevor after five years of waiting to see what came next, only to witness Johnny getting killed, without doing something was a big slap in the face, in my view. She could have pulled a gun and fired a warning shot to save her boyfriend, but no, she just stood by and watched it happen. Anything else to her credit? She dies in a heroine orgy! If this doesn't exemplify repression of the woman, tell me what does! Detective Phelps and Fuzzknuckles

D.A.
It's said that GTA V is misogynistic. I can't say I blame the critics. I mean, to begin with Karen acts as violently as a man. She dresses like one so much that only her voice gives her away as a woman. I had to look closely at her face to determine her feminine features during one of my You Tube visits. Ashley is depicted as downright unhealthy and is made to watch Johnny getting killed by Trevor. What about Debra? She's a cheating, self-centered woman who ends up getting killed instead of reformed. From what I've seen of these women, the opposite gender doesn't have it very easy in GTA V. Someone didn't play any GTA games prior to buying GTAV... >_>
