GTAO without rank and money

143 members have voted

  1. 1. Would you still play GTAO as much, without a ranking or money system? i.e. Everything is free(ammo/cars etc.)

The OP needs to add an option of 'would you at least like a 'choice' of opting out and just have a freemode like IV's'

I'm sure everyone on this forum and beyond would vote yes to that.

I would pay for this choice I really would. I'm in my 7th year of playing in freemode in IV...7 years!!! 1000's of hours of fun. Freemode in V is like walking on egg shells. :panic:

ill be nice...

i can tell V is the first GTA game for some people here as they dont seem to understand the beauty behind a game not tied to money or ranks.

"there would be no purpose" or " nothing to achieve"

^you wont hear this from a person that played IV"

anyway in order for a gtao with no money or ranks to work it would need lobby options.

Cops Off, Blips Far, Tanks Off = GTAO heaven!!!

^^^ Yup.

In GTA4 Free Mode, you can travel anywhere on the map without any real incident or provocation, knowing that if you go near the airport, you're going to be greeted with the GTA4 "elite."

I used to spend so much time fetching that little APC and the awesome Police Stinger, free to run around doing whatever.

For me, there was never ever a feeling of pressure to make money to buy stuff in the game – you just ran around in an open world, having fun until you got hungry or bored.

GTAO has pretty much created a more hostile environment where ragers, griefers, stalkers. and modders rule the universe, making it about 87% less fun than any other GTA game.

Mind you, it's still fun as all heck, but just not nearly as fun as the others.

Plus, the cops in GTAO... o.m.g.

Well you heard that from me and I played the crap out of IV online :) it was sh*t still is, go and try it. Although I did enjoy being able to get inside buildings and have huge shootouts against the cops with your friends, friends on GTA V.. lol everyone is a hater.

That would be boring as f*ck. There's a reason I do Missions, so I can gain money to unlock new cars, and I enjoy the grind to getting a car I want, rather than just having it handed to me.

I enjoy progression in games, and unlocking things. I'm not saying a game has to have them to be fun, but look at something like Destiny for example. You continue leveling up to unlock items and abilities, if you had everything from the start it would be boring.

For the people who like to grind and progress. Have you ever played, GTA SanAndreas, GTAIV or ViceCity? Cause thats what I compare the current GTAV to. You guys seem to put GTA into the same boat as 'COD', 'Destiny'??. Thats why you like grinding. Its becoming normal with this generation to think every game needs a rank and leaderboard. Cant you just play for fun, like the ol' days?

Sure but... imagine having 10 buzzards in the sky, 10 jets, 5 titans and 10 tanks in the ground. Yes, I have played SA and IV and I've enjoyed them both. But GTA V Is different, the new economy and level systems are really helping the game.

Probably not.. the ranking and buying stuff is ultimately what made me keep this game still after completing the single player.

I wouldn't mind if they removed money, but everything else has to stay.

Yes, I could imagine that. It would be awesome. Whats the problem?

It would suck.

Look at the votes, only 20% would like a system like GTA IV, the rest don't want it or voted meh.

People like progression, being rewarded for what they do. We ain't living in the 90s anymore. It is 2014, the second decade in the 21st century. The playerbase changed, everything changed.

I don't think it would suck. I loved GTA IV's Freeroam and still play it to this day along with Online.

The option should at least be there.

This guy is right though, and that's not necessary a good or bad thing imo just different.

From "progression" to DLC and micro-transactions, gaming is going from "Here's the fully fledged finished product- out the door" to progressive hamster wheel.

It's an interesting way to look at it. To me GTA is a game which involves a lot of creativity as well as personalised things.

I would say something like this would work as long as everything is a level unlock.

Ms.AirSuperiority

It would kill the fun for me atleast.

I got a 200 million money gift last Christmas Eve, and at first it was really fun.

I bought a Titan, all of the planes, all of the war stock vehicles (that were unlocked), a Z-type, and all the guns I could stand.

I was a king for a few hours, just blowing money on all the stupid bullsh*t I could (even turbo'd a Emporer XD) and not worrying about it. After awhile though it got repetitive. There was no point in doing missions, collecting Simeon vehicles, selling cars, or chasing bounties. There was nothing left to work for and nothing left to do besides grief.

A big part of the game for me was saving up money to buy aircraft and expensive cars. I killed the fun of saving enough to buy a plane (and also made each plane seem a little less special than the Cuban 800 that I bought with my own money) and I could buy any car, so they weren't special anymore (except again my 9F, which I worked my ass off for)

I ended up getting rid of all of the supercars (only kept my Surfer, sultan, 9F, and Tornado) and spending my money on like 200 Adders (which I got rid of) until I only had like 5000$

It was fun again afterwards.

It's a lot more rewarding saving up money and leveling up.

It makes you appreciate your purchases more.

(Currently at 800K, 300K left until Besra!)

I probably wouldn't play at all. I played GTAO4 online ONCE. There was no point to any of it. Nothing to earn, nothing to unlock, no motivation to do anything.

I earned everything I have in GTAO. From my rank, to my character abilities, to my car mods. It's nice to go up against players that have done the same.

Ok, so my ultimate answer from the poll is:

Its 2014, and the player base has changed. It likes rank, progression, grinding/cashcards.

Unlike the 'old days'. Where you were given everything for free and had fun immediately. That explains alot. Thanks ppls for your participation.

IMO rank is what gives you an incentive to play. Stuff should have been unlocked through rank not cash but it is what it is.

No rank? Maybe;
Everything free? Hell no.
Plus what would be the point if already everything from the start? You should work your way up: Work hard to achieve your goals of killing and becoming the biggest psycho in town, work hard to get your hard earned cash and spent all of it in Chrome supercars with dollar rims, and stuff like that.
The sense of accomplishment, even in a game, is one of the best senses of could have!

I noticed that once I hit lvl 100 there wasn't much point to playing missions because I had everything. I was sick of RR! I started getting into a lot of free roam battles in the last month and a half which got old quick. The change to the payout system has breathed new life into the game for me. I never realized how many of the missions I really liked, they were never worth playing. Saturday a group of us played 2 hours straight going from mission to mission!!! I can't say I wouldn't play the game a lot, I probably wouldn't have played it everyday.

Everyone voting no is pretty patheic. I can see it making gta a little more fun but the only reason you play is to rank up and buy virtual car parts that you wouldnt want if they were free. Thats the mpst patheic thing ive heard in a while

Actually, that participation trophy/"everyone should win just for showing up" mentality is pathetic. The premise of starting with nothing and working my way up to being a kingpin was the only reason I got online in the first place...

I would play when I would just want to screw around without any consequences. I would still play regular Online quite a bit. It`s more satisfying to drive something you own than something you got for free. That is why I didn`t want to have Elegy some time back.

All I do is trying to replicate an imaginary game I used to 'make' as a kid. And since its all based on rank and such, I would finish that in 1 hour max instead of taking time and such.

If the game was like that then I would've dropped the game since December.

I, myself?

would honestly want a "Hardcore" or "Simu" mode where sh*t was just more realistic, in certain aspects that wasn't too OTT.

Even a server based option where everything was much less forgiving and required you to use some sort of skill to survive, instead of AA your way out of everything and running back to your apartment.

So, not wanting everything to be handed to me in a golden platter, make me "pathetic" ?

Even if everyone votes yes. You must be stupid to think Rockstar will change their whole Game's Mechanics and Gameplay.

Face it. What you people are really asking for is a sandbox multiplayer, like GTA IV.

Me too :(

I'd like the option but that's why I play GTA IV.
