GTAO without rank and money

143 members have voted

  1. 1. Would you still play GTAO as much, without a ranking or money system? i.e. Everything is free(ammo/cars etc.)

Recommended Posts

^^As title suggests^^ Imagine, loading up GTAO for the first time and having everything free from the start...(ammo/cars etc.)

Is this The Guy?

No. Would really see no reason to play if everything was free.

Honestly I play gtao everyday (since I'm the vice president for rock machine mc). Regards to money and rank doesn't matter to me because with or without I would still play gtao. I like the money and rank system makes me feel like if I want anything in the game I have to work for it, just like in real life.

I quite like the mmo like aspects of the game, I got such a buzz when I had finally reached my goal of having 2mil to buy the buzzard. And since that last update the money flows in, almost up to 2 mill again.

I, like everyone else here, woulds still play the game. Unlike some others though, I prefer the game as it is.

Everything should be free and equal from the beginning. When I think of the incredible number of real life hours, days, weeks and months I have spent leveling up and grinding in GTA0, it makes me sick. If this were a rich virtual world like Second Life (where I have spent a lot more time, over 10 years), I could justify it. But other than the beauty of the GTAV virtual world design, the effort I have put in cannot be justified in any way.

I would have played less hours but had a lot more fun if GTA0 was free and equal from the beginning.

Probably not. I've discovered part of the fun was that climb to reaching that new clothing item, that next vehicle or upgrade or that new weapon. Now I'm at level 130something, almost 5mill and own most everything the game has to offer and there's just little incentive for me to play GTA: O when my friends aren't on because griefing isn't fun for me. So I've been playing less and less since I have little to actually do than casually drive around.

I wouldn't play it would have no purpose. Pretty much just like it is currently with no unlocks after level 120 and every mission paying the same depending on time..

No purpose of playing, it would be boring. Nothing to achieve, just blow sh*t up.

Blowing sh*t up seems to be THE purpose for 99% of all GTA0 players. I think that if they could do that all day, every day, from the beginning, it would have made them very happy. :p

The purpose of playing video games is to have fun. If rewards are your incentive to play, you're doing it wrong.

Not entirely. You don't want things just HANDED to you in a game. It's more fun to start off with a couple tools of the trade THEN move up to the heavy duty 'I win' toys like the Minigun.

I agree with that 100%. I love things to unlock, and earn. But these things are not requisites for having fun. They are a bonus.

Normally i would say no but in GTA:O there really isnt a story to work through. Its such a sandbox vibe that it really never feels like i am actually working for a satisfying goal. I think i would actually play it about the same as i already do.

True, but then comes that question of 'Now what do I do?'

When you have most everything there is to claim in Online, what else is there to do? Not everyone enjoys killing other players or mindless NPC rampaging so that tends to leave a problem for some of us who don't have much reason to jump into Online except 'I'm bored, what's going on here?'

Brilliant Ideas

the ranks im ok with. gives us incentive to work for what we have. although having it end after 120 and then pointlessly going up all the way to 8,000 is idiotic imo. they should have made a "prestige" mode like in RDR where you could start over and unlock bonus items for reaching 120 again and again, such as exclusive vehicles/weapons for example. the money on the other hand i dont care about. if gtao didnt have money, it would be a much better experience. no stupid shark cards, no grinding repetitive missions with robocop enemies who respawn 24/7 while awaiting the mythical heists to arrive, no lack of fun, and it would simply give R* a reason to make the jobs more balanced and consistent.

This is why people who glitched their money and bought everything, are bored now. :D

If you can't think of a single thing to do in the game then unlock content and kill everyone then you have a problem (generally speaking). There's activities to enjoy with your friends, there's missions, races, just like there were in the beginning. Then there's the updates which keep the game fresh as well.

In the end, there's is only so much a game can give you. You will get bored with it eventually. Especially if you keep asking to be rewarded for playing.

I have everything i could use right now. I cant really go on random shoot outs, thats too expensive lol. Normally i play missions when i get hyped for it or i grind missions during commercials when watching tv o,o lol

Problem is there's absolutely no fun in playing GTA V in a lobby, it's just death and stress. The only fun part of the game is unlocking things.

That's a matter of opinion. There's always something fun to do. I'm still having fun with my Besra for example. Not to mention all the fun with random people, be it pvp, cruising around, doing missions, races,... That's the beauty of online gaming, you never know what or who your gonna run into.

To both of you then: Do you still play? If so, why?

Yes. GTA 4 was fun and I still dip into that. Money and rank = dickheads in my opinion. I also miss weapons spinning around in a back alley :(

R* don't want you to spend long in freemode if they did they would have at least a choice for a system like IV's.

I just want the option to be able to play in freemode like IV.

I know I am not alone in thinking this!

Maybe it is time to make a petition?

Rank and Money is what adds motivation to do all these missions and activities. The fact you unlock stuff from ranks and able to buy and customize is what makes this game fun and adds replay.

As a Saints Row 2 online player, it was like this. You had ranks and each ranked unlocked more clothing and customization. So when GTA V introduced this online, I was happy.

But unlike Saints Row 2, Rockstar handled it poorly. The ranks and money are unbalanced. They added too many levels which don't unlock anymore content and everything is overpriced ridiculously for cash cards.

And yes for anyone who played Saints Row 2 online, clothing was overpriced too compared to story, like GTAO, but at least the game modes gave you a lot of money. GTA gives you shxt payout most of the time to buy the items online.

In my opinion, if Rockstar didn't get so greedy and didn't rush online, the money and rank system would be enjoyable, but it's flawed right now.

"Would you play as much?"

"Yes, I'd play more".

Dick caught in ceiling fan.

I'm not answering the poll, but I'd probably play it exactly the same as I do since rank and money have never been something I've sought.
